Yohan looked around the dimly lit room, scanning the faces of the children who were just as scared and confused as he was pretending to be.
His eyes stopped on two in particular—the children Cruz had specifically instructed him to protect.
The boy, older and visibly trying to remain calm, was doing his best to comfort his younger sister and the other children huddled around them.
His voice was soft, but the tension in his body was obvious.

Suddenly, the sound of an alarm blared through the building, and panic surged through the room. The children tensed, eyes wide with fear.
Yohan's senses sharpened as the noise of battle grew louder outside.
