A dense white mist settled in a small western part of the Laziha forest, soft whispers traveled in the air as several black cloaks ran towards the mist.
Inside the mist, a soft voice asked "Did he come?" "Yes, the trap was also triggered" another voice answered and went on to say "I think he wasn't alone".
The soft voice went quiet, after a while it sounded again "And the creation?" "He died",the other voice answered again.
"Leave" the soft voice commanded.
"You will come to me son, crawling or walking". The soft voice said menacingly.
Florah skipped happily as she walked back home using the route from before. She was going to pick up the required things, after being instructed by the seemingly strict head maid to bring her clothes and small belongings.
As she would start living and working in the castle until told otherwise.
Reaching her house, she saw a medium sized box on her bed that she was sure wasn't hers. Cautiously walking to it, she read the small note that read "A breathtaking vampire".
She rolled her eyes knowing who it was from, moving to open the box, "wow" she wondered.
"This is beautiful". Florah said touching the baby peach colored dress with small red flower designs that was in the box.
After a few minutes admiring her gift, she decided to start packing her stuff in a box she pulled from under her bed, packing the dress along with other stuff. She couldn't wait to tell 'Jer' about her new job.
Looking around her almost empty room, Florah thought of how she was forgetting something.
That was when it hit her that she was yet to tell Miss Bernatta that she was quitting, she also hadn't seen Mr.Humphis.
Hurriedly walking to the market, she made her way to the stall seeing a very busy and annoyed Miss Bernatta, she decided to not poke the angry lion and decided to go to Mr.Humphis' instead.
Reaching the stall, she asked the boy that worked with Mr.Humphis. "where is Mr.Humphis" "He didn't come today Miss" the boy who knew Florah answered.
Politely bowing to each other, Florah decided to go back before wasting more time which wouldnot be a good impression on her first day.
Reaching the castle through the same route, Florah flashed a badge with the insignia of a sword pierced in the ground which was given to the servants of the crown for easy identification.
Opening the gates for her Florah, carried her luggage with her as she entered.
Titus came to help her and he led her to the servant's quarters which were a polar opposite to what she had seen in the hallways.
Biege painted walls and small doors in a long hallway is what welcomed her. "This are the women's quarters. Look through the rooms for an empty space. If a room has only one person, you can occupy the empty space because two to three servants are expected to share a room".
Titus told Florah since male servants weren't allowed in the female servants' quarters. "Thank you again, Titus" Florah thanked "It is what friends are for" Titus replied cheekily
Florah was already scared to have to sleep in a room with someone else in it, given that her nights were sometimes filled with immense pain and screaming.
Looking through the rooms which were already occupied by either two or three maids.
She started to wonder if there was any space for her.
"Come with me" A deep voice said behind her.
"Huuhh" Florah closed her mouth before she could scream any louder. "Mr. Matthew, i am sorry i didn't realise you were there" Florah bowed apologetically.
Matthew just looked at the odd human and moved past her to walk further in the hallway.
Florah stood there for a second and remembered he had said to follow him, hurrying to follow him, she left a space between them as she walked behind him.
Florah did it as his status was above hers and she was also scared of the vampire.
"Miss... "The butler glanced behind his shoulder at the woman."Florah Crest....Sir" she said trying to keep up with his long legs.
"Hmm Miss Crest, where did you work before?" Matthew asked.
"I worked at the local restaurant 'MADDY'S' in Dradfold town. I was also one of the kitchen hands there" Florah lied through her teeth.
The butler's eyes twinkled, his face remained expressionless as he slowed down his steps, hearing the girl basically jogging to keep up with him "So you lived in Dradfold town" he asked. "Yes" Florah replied
Reaching the end of the hallway, the butler pulled out his keys that jiggled as he opened the door infront of him. The door screeched as he pushed it open.
The square room was small with a window at the right corner with dust and cobwebs. Mops and brooms lay on the floor, " This was the cleaners' storage room" The butler said which acted as an explanation. "Clean it up and settle in, lunch is in two hours". With that said the Butler exited.
