Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Lizard Man

"Well done, Spider-Man!"

A child's voice called out from above. It turned out he had watched the entire process of Spider-Man turning defeat into victory and couldn't help but cheer him on.

Peter lightly leapt up to the window where the kid was standing. "Thank you for the support, kid. Could you call the police for me?"

"Okay, Spider-Man!"

Peter waved and climbed up to the roof, preparing to catch his breath first.

In fact, his body hadn't fully recovered yet, and he had just barely endured through that last fight.

So he had to let his whole body relax, which would speed up the repair process.

He found a corner and sat down, leaning his head against the wall, silently thinking things over in his mind.

He had originally planned to follow up with Police Chief Stacy so he could show off his skills in front of him and change his public image.

But after that interruption just now, it was obvious he had lost track of the chief.

Now he needed to find a way to get Chief Stacy's attention again.

At this time, his phone hidden in his trouser pocket vibrated.

Buzz -

Peter took out his phone and found a message from Gwen:

[I hope you're okay, is everything alright? Something happened over at the Williamsburg Bridge.]

"The Williamsburg Bridge! Thanks, Gwen!" Peter understood. This was information Gwen had specially collected for him because she was afraid he would lose sight of the situation.

Gwen also hoped that Peter could change Spider-Man's image in her father's mind.

Otherwise, the two people she loved most - one her boyfriend, the other her father, one out of romantic love, the other familial love - were conflicted.

She was caught in the middle, truly stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Well, it was really difficult for her.

She was actually even more eager than Peter to hope that he could clear Spider-Man's name!

Peter put his cell phone back into the pocket of his suit, stood up, and moved his body around.

After resting for a while, his body had indeed returned to its original state.

While resting, he had also found the issue with his web-shooter.

There was a small loose screw inside, causing the firing button to get stuck and unable to be pressed in.

After a simple adjustment, this minor issue was resolved.

But that wasn't the end of it.

Peter tweaked several parts of the web-shooter as well.

This was his experience from the other world he had been to.

After adjusting the parameters a little, the web-shooter that originally only had one firing mode suddenly changed to three modes.

Peter tried firing a web line, and it was good, meeting his expectations!

"Great, let's go!" Peter looked up and his eyes lit up.

Not far away in the sky, there was a helicopter also rushing towards the Williamsburg Bridge.

"How about catching a ride on the tailwind? I'm such a clever little spider!"

Peter took a running start, then jumped high into the air, shooting out a line of webbing that stuck to the bottom of the helicopter, and he lightly hung down from it.

"That little episode earlier wasted some time. I hope it's not too late to get over there now!"

At the same time, in the distance on the Williamsburg Bridge, traffic had slowly come to a standstill.

Dr. Nils Van Adder was sitting in a car, feeling the stagnation of the vehicle, and seemed a little impatient.

He had just threatened the useless Dr. Curt Connors at Oscorp.

He had ordered Connors to send the preliminarily produced medicine to the Veterans Hospital under the guise of a flu vaccine and quietly conduct human trials.

But that ungrateful guy had actually rejected him!

He had no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

Now he was on his way to the Veterans Hospital in Brooklyn.

But this damn traffic was jammed up!

"Alfred, can you go see what's going on? When will this damn car start moving?" Nils said in a strained patient tone.

"Right away, Doctor," the driver Alfred opened the door and stepped out.

Boom!

Not long after Alfred left, the rear of the car was hit hard, shaking the whole vehicle.

"Oh~" Nils was a little speechless, "It's really great."

Boom!

Before he could finish his rant, the car behind him suddenly rammed forward, knocking his car straight out of its original position and slamming it into the edge of the bridge.

"Hey, what are you doing!" Nils turned around and yelled angrily.

At this time, he noticed many people screaming from behind on the bridge outside the car window and running towards the other side.

"What happened?"

"Get back in the car!"

"Hey, what's going on back there?"

"Mom!"

"Oh, fuck!"

There was chaos on the bridge, and Nils was also affected by the panicked emotions. He felt a little flustered, not knowing what was happening.

However, he felt something was wrong in his gut.

After hesitating for a second, he decided to follow the crowd and get away from this place first!

However, when he went to open the door, he found that it was locked and couldn't be opened!

"Damn it!" Nils pulled hard several times and even kicked it with his foot, but the car door still didn't budge at all.

There was nothing he could do - when it was rear-ended earlier, the car had gotten wedged tightly in place!

There was another car to the left and the bridge's edge on the right, so he couldn't get out!

At this time, he glanced back in panic and caught sight of a huge figure, leaving him stunned for a moment.

The figure was over two meters tall, with a long tail trailing behind it. The green wart-like skin on its body made it look like an enlarged, humanoid lizard!

"What the hell is this!" Nils was horrified.

He saw that the lizard creature was peering into one car after another with its head, as if searching for something.

Stare!

Just as Nils was looking at the lizard creature, suddenly, its head turned around and made eye contact with him.

"Niles," the lizard spat out the name and walked quickly toward Nils.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Each heavy step made the bridge tremble slightly.

And this time, it also stomped on Nils' heart!

Although he didn't know why, he felt that this ugly lizard monster was coming to find him!

Bang!

The limousine's glass was smashed directly, and a big hand with sharp claws reached inside.

Nils shrank back to the other corner of the car in horror.

The Lizard's hand swiped at the empty air, shredding the leather seats to pieces!

Bang!

Another sound.

The car swayed, as the Lizard jumped onto the luxury vehicle, then grabbed down hard, tearing a big hole in the roof!

Nils fled in fear again, this time hiding himself under the backseat.

The sharp tips of the long claws tore through his suit, ripping the front into ragged shreds.

The smell of urine began to slowly spread inside the car.
