Raguel had packed her hair backwards, and was outside the cave, waiting for Emily and Allerio to come out.
Emily was tense, and it slowed her movement. Allerio still had some amount of sleep in his eyes, and was finding it hard to wake up. The night had been unusual, such that each of them only had a short time to sleep.
"Darling might have started a search party for me!" Raguel had climbed onto the horse she had tied up outside the cave. "We should hurry up!"
Emily managed to go outside. "Are we going together?"
"No, but you will stay behind me. I have some strings to pull..."
"Some strings?"
"Yes, you just have to follow me." She turned the horse to be in Emily's direction. "We just have to do a hide and seek business."
Allerio got outside, but he bent his head low, avoiding eye contact with Raguel.
"Allerio.... You will stay closely behind me."
She also had issues in speaking to him. Without making an explanation, she had already started moving away, slowly, to wait for them a few rides away.
Allerio had climbed on the other horse, and Emily stayed behind him, her breasts rested against him, but she didn't mind.
Raguel resumed riding, but the path she was following was a bit out of the way to alpha's place. It was obvious that she hadn't explained the full details of her plan to them. She definitely had something in mind to do.
Allerio called Emily's attention to ask.
"You haven't told us what to do!" She had to shout out as Raguel was already gaining distance from them.
She halted her speed to wait for them.
"The route you're taking is different from the actual route."
"Yes, I have to make you look sick.... I have a friend we will have to meet. He has a way around it."
'A way around it?' She had wanted to ask, but didn't. 'Maybe there wasn't a reason to bother about anything.'
She leaned her body on Allerio.
Rguel gave them a long look. Allerio pretended not to notice.
After a few minutes, what Raguel had said started to come into play, as they could hear voices of men on horses passing by the other lane.
It was expected, but it came as a surprise to them. It was good they were not on the usual lane. The men would have seen Raguel, and her ploy to help Emily would immediately have loopholes.
Of course she was the alpha, but at each point in time, it was always better she had reasons for everything.
She had slowed her movement, and Allerio did the same.
"Wait!" She gave a low tone, almost like a whisper, but Emily and Allerio had managed to hear her. "It's better Emily rides with me!"
Such a change? Was that going to help in any way?
Emily immediately switched. Her eyes on Allerio were penetrating. He almost lost focus.
"You would have to stay behind us, just in case they meet up with us.... You would have to hold them back."
All through her prep talk, she was facing the road, not looking at him.
He nodded his agreement as though she was looking at him.
After a few more rides, the voices of the men on horses came out louder. The message was quite clear—Raguel was right about Darling organizing a search for her. That was expected because the alpha was always their greatest concern.
"Allerio!" She turned backwards to look at him. "You would have to draw their attention if we get close to being seen by any of the guards."
The men were the guards, her guards. It was such an irony that she had to hide from them.
The thoughts about Katie had risen up in Emily's mind, she had no idea that she had rested her body weight against Raguel, causing a bit of discomfort.
The guards on horses passed a different message to her, what if they were making a run for Katie? That was unlikely, Katie could turn into colors before their eyes. But.... What if she was stuck in the physical form?
Raguel moved her body backwards a bit, and Emily had to hold herself, rather than resting on her.
"The man we are going to meet is a mage."
"A mage?"
It felt like a new word. The sound of it gave her a sense of familiarity.
"A mage sounds strange to you?" Raguel had an idea. "You can't remember that your father was also a mage?"
She could not answer.
'How is it that she knows a lot of things I don't know about myself?' She did an inward calculation.
Raguel let out a chuckle, forgetting the fact that they were trying to hide themselves from the guards. Maybe a chuckle would not do any harm as her voice was not loud enough to be heard at the other side.
"Charles told me a lot about your family." She had slowed down a bit. "It's such a pity that you lost some part of your memories."
"Alpha!" Allerio called out. "You have to run with Emily!"
Raguel drew the ropes holding horse and spade away.
Allerio had to run towards the guards as though he had committed a crime. He tried to make it feel like he was running away from something, away from a crime he had caused.
"Hold him!" One of the guards shouted.
The horses were about twenty, and they gathered around him.
"I saw him riding in the company of two ladies."
That was a late update. Raguel and Emily had gone far distance from them. Allerio had done a great job.
"We will take him with us," one of the leaders said.
He had become a prisoner of the council.
Raguel had rode to arrive outside a hall, about a three storey tall. There were several kinds of grass growing at the sides of the entrance.
She came down from the horse. "And here is the hall of the mage that's going to help you out."
'Do we really need to go through all these just because I left the mate test ceremony?' Emily thought to ask. 'I had gone too far in asking Katie to spy on Darling.'
