"No! You have to stay down, don't you see that everyone is watching you?" Katie was already going to her usual state to get into Emily's consciousness.
She smiled before lying down on the stretcher.
The Council members had froze on their spots, watching as she tried to take up her sick expression. For that, Raguel and Allerio had nothing to say. Of course they were both trying to cover up, but she had done something strange.
Why the smile on her face? Why did she go close to the window? And why did she take a lying position on the stretcher? Perhaps someone needed to do some explaining.
"What's up with her?" Raguel asked Logan.
He was at a loss for words to say.
She had become concerned that something was wrong with Emily. Patrick came into her mind, what if he had done something else to her?
Soon, Emily closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep.
"This meeting might not continue," Raguel said. "There's nothing more for us to talk about. I also need to rest. I think we've discussed the issue of the young lady, and the case of my necklace being stolen, I will handle it at a later time."
The Council members' checking out on her could almost drain her out.
"Our Alpha needs to rest," Darling added.
The Council members started to walk out of the hall. There was nothing else to talk about since Darling had agreed to let go of the case. The guards carried Allerio away, and Raguel was waiting for everyone to go out.
Emily was in a conversation with Katie, such that she didn't notice the situation in the hall. All the members had left except Darling.
"I will take her out of here." Logan had asked some servants to carry Emily.
"You don't have to... Logan you can go."
"You mean I should leave her here?"
To him, it didn't make sense for a sick person to be left in the hall.... But she didn't seem so.
"Leave her.... You have done a good job."
Good work? He had actually done nothing as the test had not been done.
He bowed slightly, got close to the door, but turned back to look. "What about the treatment?"
"You have nothing to worry about, just go."
That was only when he left.
Darling was still on her seat.
"There are so many things I don't know," she said.
Raguel went to the spot where Emily was lying down. "Take her to my room."
The servants that were left in the hall began to carry her out.
"Euphoria, watch out for her, ensure she's okay."
"Okay Alpha."
If the servants were asked to speak, they all had different things to say. A reason was because they had seen Emily go into Raguel's room on several occasions, but the Council members did not know of that.
"It's just you and me," Darling left her seat to stand beside her. "You can tell me some things about her.... It is obvious that you are trying to protect her."
"I need some rest... And the deal you wanted, you will tell me about it, but not now."
Raguel was going to the front door, and Darling was behind her.
"You have something with that man?" Darling raised eyebrows.
She stopped moving, turning around to meet Darling's eyes. "Why do you say so?"
"How come your necklace was found with him, and you didn't react harshly? I feel everything is like a game."
She went back to the table. Darling's statement was something she had to consider. No one should have a clue of what happened with Allerio as it was against the laws of the pack. What if she went against it? Then she surely needed a covering.
"I don't have to over react to anything." She tried to wave off Darling's idea.
"You could easily get a mate if you wanted to, or you could make him your mate."
She hissed through her teeth. "Who says I need a mate!"
Darling went silent for a while as if rephrasing what she wanted to say in her mind, and then she touched Raguel's hand, patting her. "I know the inner feelings, and I also know you won't admit to it."
Raguel was quiet, and her nerves were starting to rise. Was Darling hinting at the one-time affair she had with Allerio? How would she have known?
"I know a lot about you.... I know you keep seeing Charles in your dreams, and I know you wish to find him." She crossed her arms, relaxing her back against the chair.
"Why do you say all these?"
"Because I've paid close attention to you, but then, you're trying to deceive yourself about it."
In Raguel's room, Euphoria had made Emily lie on the bed. She had gone ahead to light the candles as Emily had requested.
"Please stay outside."
She did just that. It wasn't unusual for her to stay on Raguel's bed.
Katie came into a physical state to sit beside Emily.
"What happened?" Emily asked. "You didn't return on time.... I feared something bad had happened."
Katie rubbed her palms together, scratching them. "Darling was looking for me, and a maid and a chief servant had seen me."
She left the bed, pacing up and down the room, and the Charles picture was still hung at the usual place, facing her.
"Did you make any progress?" Emily asked.
She shook her head. "Nah, but I feel that Darling knows a lot of things we don't know."
Emily's eyes narrowed. "How could that be?"
She climbed the bed to get a hold of Charles' picture. "This picture was also found in her room."
The picture had become a clue for Katie to decide that Darling knew a lot about Charles. But why was Charles picture in her room when Damian was her mate?
It surprised Katie.
"They discussed you, they talked about the other mate test ceremony that Charles had conducted."
"I met a mage," Emily said. "His name is Patrick, and he told me he knows everything about Charles and my family."
"Is he in this pack? When did you meet him?"
Katie considered it strange. It was a short period of time for her to have met someone whom she did not know.
"Raguel had asked for his help."
The door opened, and Raguel walked into the room. Katie had quickly gone out of sight.
Raguel kept a sick face, collapsing her body on the bed.
"Patrick's effect had worn off." She touched Emily's hair, flowing it backward.
Emily nodded, avoiding her gaze.
"Darling wants to strike a deal with me," she said.
Emily's heart skipped. It was the same person Katie was talking about. What kind of deal did she want?
