"Do you intend for us to bring him to your room?" The guard asked.
"Didn't you hear clearly?" Raguel's face was getting close to becoming contorted.
The muscles of her face were already pulping out. Her gritted teeth added to it. But who would believe she wanted to question a man in her room? The hall she had used to discuss with the Council members was available, why was she not using it?
"I will bring him here immediately!"He turned to leave, but still looked back as if to confirm.
"Go!"
While the guard had gone, Raguel and Emily kept a consistent gaze on Euphoria. If looks could kill, it was possible for her to have died, and Raguel's gaze would have been held responsible for it. Emily's eyes had tenderness, but Raguel's harshness covered it.
The guard opened the door, and this time, one of the chief guards had come along. Their hands grabbed Allerio.
"Leave us," Raguel said.
The guards glanced at each other. "You want us to leave?"
She nodded.
"But this man here.... We can't leave him alone with you..."
"Sagio." She called the chief guard. "It's a simple instruction. Just leave us."
Sagio shook his head. "But our work isn't complete. How is it possible for us to leave you to face harm?"
"Leave!" She had to shout.
They sensed fury rising in her, and decided to obey her instructions.
Euphoria wanted to join them out, but she called her back, saying she wasn't meant to leave.
Allerio was kneeling on the floor, and was close to the bed. His face was lowered down as though a heavy load was placed on his head.
"Allerio.... Everything has become complicated, and I feel it has gone far beyond what I'd planned." Raguel started.
She pulled the necklace from around her neck, and stretched it out so it appeared as the subject of their conversation.
"Start explaining in detail to me."
Allerio raised his head up, lines of whips were found on his face, extending to his broad chest. He was wearing just a trouser.
"You left it in the cave," he said. "I had wanted to return it, but I found it hard to speak to you."
Could that be an excuse? Raguel did not buy it.
"Did you have any intention to steal it?"
Allerio wasn't surprised to hear that. He showed no expression, but his eyes traveled to look at Emily.
"You must have pulled it with your clothes.... And I found it after that."
It seemed no one noticed that Euphoria was still in the room. Also, she had forgotten about the problem she had put herself in trying to listen to the conversation of Raguel and Emily, instead, she was straining her ears to what Allerio was saying, her mouth wide open.
"It was at the time you left the basement of the cave."
"No it isn't...." Raguel refuted.
"It was after you climbed the stairs with Emily...."
"You are calling me a fool? Aren't you? Allerio?"
She stood above him, holding the chain, and making it dangle. The necklace was the Alpha necklace, and it was taken as an heirloom . All the alphas that had governed Tolias, just like her, had worn it around their neck.
She had made her own conclusion, and it just happened that it declared Allerio as a thief.
"Imagine what would become of me if that necklace was stolen.... It will affect so many things."
"But I found it, and brought it to you, isn't that proof that I have no intention of stealing it."
She snapped her fingers, giving him a hard stare. "Don't push me!"
Her voice echoed in the room, and it made him mute for the moment. Emily and Euphoria also felt it. She was pissed, and her Alpha power had started to show itself.
It was clearly a joke when Sagio and the other guard had hesitated to leave Allerio with her.
"You had all the time in the world to return the necklace to me! But you had your own will, and intended to take it for yourself!"
Her voice had life of its own, and it made Allerio begin to shake as though he was convulsing.
"Tell me!" She gripped his shoulders. "Tell me the good intention you had by holding my necklace instead of giving it to me?"
While she made her emotions gain life to Allerio, Emily was breathing heavily as though something was about to explode from her body. She wanted to stop Raguel from pouring out her anger, but didn't know how to go about it.
"We had rode far from the cave, and you would have given the necklace to me!"
Allerio was sweating profusely, and his teeth were chattering. He couldn't form audible words to use in defending himself.
"Did you plan to expose me?" Raguel went on to speak.
"Raguel, you have to calm down." Emily came in. "I know Allerio, he can never be a thief."
Raguel seemed to have lost some nuts in her head, and was soon going to turn into her wolf form. The walls were almost shaking, and Allerio felt like a small cat placed before a lion.
That was the power of an Alpha!
"Raguel stop all this!" Emily growled.
With the sound of her voice, Raguel fell back to the bed, and was sweating just the same way Allerio was.
The first words that came from Raguel's mouth were "I'm sorry".
Euphoria stepped forward to hold Raguel, forgetting that she had committed an offense against her. Her state did not look good, and Euphoria was simply playing the role of a good maid.
"I'm so sorry," she said again. "You know, any time it takes over me, it's always hard for me to regain myself."
Euphoria and Allerio could not understand what she was talking about, but Emily simply nodded.
"Allerio." Emily called. "We are sorry for causing you this humiliation."
Things had changed in less than a minute, just when he felt there was no way he was going to escape punishment.
"Don't take any of these to heart." She was massaging Raguel's arm. "Euphoria, tell the other maids to lead him so he can have his bath."
Euphoria escorted Allerio out of the room, and later returned.
"I really need to calm my nerves," Raguel said. "You also need to return to your hostel."
Emily nodded.
"You would need a maid? Euphoria should go with you."
Euphoria was stunned. Was she going to start serving Emily outside the Alpha's place?
