Emily could not remember how she had gone beneath him to start receiving consistent strokes that went in rhythm.
At one moment, they were standing outside as their tongue twinned together in a kiss, but in the next instance, she found herself inside the cave, their bodies entwined together.
Katie's moans were the loudest, ringing bells in Emily's ears. She was not in a physical form, and so, Allerio could not see her.
Katie reappeared as a wolf beside her, but couldn't look at Allerio with the same hunger she had. A bigger issue had surfaced.
He was still asleep, taking full advantage of the cool day.
"You made me do it," Emily said to Katie as her jaw dropped.
She wasn't able to look at him even when he was asleep. Looking or speaking to him would be a task too great for her. She thought of starting with an apology.
Katie instantly turned into a girl slightly younger than her. "It was for the both of us." She said with a serious expression as though their lives depended on the act Emily did.
Emily shook her head. "No." She gave a stern look at her. "It was all because you enticed me."
"Why not focus on finding your mother's killer?"
Katie had brought her back to the bigger issue.
"You have a way of finding your family and this insane killer?"
She laid her back on the mattress, her body almost touching Allerio. She wouldn't have dared to stay close to him, but Katie was sitting at the other end beside her, making the mattress too tight.
"The search could begin with you." She pointed at Katie.
It caught her absolute attention.
With squinted eyebrows, she moved her head backward a little, as though retreating. "How is that?"
"I don't know how to traverse worlds."
"We could find a way for you." Katie nodded multiple times.
"It should be after the mate test ceremony."
"Okay."
Katie, as usual, gradually blurred off as she went out of sight to take her abode in Emily's head.
An hour had passed, and Allerio was just waking up to find her beside him. She was lying in the opposite direction and he wasn't able to see her face unless she turned around. For the first second, he felt he heard a muffled cry like the one he heard last night, but decided against it. The tones of the birds, coupled with the cool breeze had covered it up. He moved over to cuddle her, but she abruptly got up, letting his hand fall to the mattress instead. It felt alright when she walked outside the cave. She just needed to stretch herself, he convinced himself.
"I have to see my alpha." She said from outside.
"Why not wait some more?" He went out to meet her without a piece of clothing, allowing the rod between his legs to dangle. "She can always wait for you."
Again, he tried to keep his hands on her shoulders. It just happened that she walked a step further away from him, making his hands drop to his side. He thought less of it, it was a coincidence that she was already walking out.
She tried turning to face him, but quickly averted her gaze as though she hadn't seen him naked the whole night. "She wants me to spend some time with her."
He felt her averted gaze was a way to respect him.
Would it have felt awkward for him to talk about how strange she was on the mattress? It was her beneath him, no one else, not even near the cave. But she felt like two in one, and the usual range of pleasure was doubled.
At Raguel's home, called "the alpha's place", she had dressed up her bed, and had set a table before it. At the side of the bed, instead of the lamps that were normally used, candles were placed, about three of them burning in blue flames. She was going to have the meeting with Emily in her room, and the bed was going to replace the seats that were needed.
Emily entered with her head lowered a little to show respect, even though they were friends.
"Alpha."
It was a simple greeting.
Raguel smiled, tapping the side of the bed for her to sit.
"Your eyes." Emily said, raising the finger of her right hand.
Raguel's eyes were filling up, and Emily could tell it wouldn't take long before the tears started dropping to the ground or the bed.
"My eyes?" She asked, making it so obvious that she hadn't noticed.
She quickly stood up and took the door to the bathroom.
When Emily saw she wasn't there, she started her usual habit of turning her eyes into a scanner to spot minute details in the room.
Her gaze fell to a picture on the wall that was attached to the head side of the bed. It was a picture of a man with wolf's legs. The other part of his body was that of a human. His hair was short, and barely enough for weaving.
"Katie." She called.
With colors building up to her eyes, Katie appeared beside her. She placed her hands on her shoulders, giving them the perfect look of twin sisters. Katie always had different styles of coming into the physical view.
"I feel I know him," Emily said, pointing to the picture.
Katie moved forward, climbed the bed, and scattered the smooth arrangement Raguel had used an effort to achieve. "The picture has no colors, how would you be sure?" She turned to Emily.
"The beard all over his face had caught my interest, and—"
Raguel's voice was suddenly heard from the bathroom, and Emily was rushing forward to meet her.
"Why not ask her who he is?" Katie stepped down from the bed, about to go unseen again.
"Maybe I will."
In the bathroom, she found Raguel's head bent to the ceramic bowl, weeping. At the sight of Emily, she hurriedly turned on the tap, and began washing her face in an attempt to gain back her composure.
"I'm perfectly fine." She tried smiling by showing off her white teeth, but instead, ending with a contorted look.
"You aren't." Emily's voice was slightly raised.
It was obvious she hadn't thought about being careful talking to an alpha.
She softened her voice as though she was going to pet a child. "You could tell me the problem. Aren't we friends?"
A friend to the alpha?
Raguel tried to calm her breathing as she relaxed herself on Emily. "It's because of my mate who had left me to be alone."
"Charles?"
"Yes."
Emily's heart started to beat loudly, and Raguel could hear it.
"Why is your heart beating so fast?"
