Chapter 23 - Chapter Twenty Three

~Illusion~

"I dare you to lay a finger on her" they heard a cold voice from behind. They need not a ghost to tell them who the owner of the voice is.

Lansel stared fiercely at the trio.

"Brother..."

"Leave" Lansel cut Dionysios off as he made to talk. Dionysios sighed and left with the guards.

Princess Neriah also made to leave but was stopped by Lansel's intimidating cold voice.

"Why the heck did you lure her out in the first place?!" There's a murderous rage in his voice and his sea green eyes glimmered.

Neriah lowered her head, she couldn't withstand the look in his eyes.

"Answer me, Neriah!" His voice was a little loud, making her flinch. Niamh quickly grabbed Lansel's arm.

"It's not her fault, I asked her to take me out" she said softly, her silver eyes gazed into his fiery sea green ones which turned calm in an instant - Neev could truly have a power to take away someone's anger.

Neriah quitely left the room, shutting the door behind her.

Niamh gently left go of his arm and bowed, apologetically.

"I apologise, Your Highness"

"What happened?" He asked. Neev took a deep breath and narrated all that happened.

"I really don't know how it happened. I never meant to hurt anyone" Niamh said softly but soberly.

Lansel felt a strange sting in his heart, he suddenly don't want to see her sad. Therefore, he pulled her into a hug.

Niamh's eyes widened as her head lightly hit his hard masculine chest, she discovered how short and petite she is as he circled one arm around her tiny waist.

"Don't be sad. It's fine. I understand you have strange powers" Lansel cooed, patting her hair soothingly.

"You have telekinesis power. -The ability to control things with your mind. You're not just a mind reader" he stated.

"Does that mean I threw them all because I wanted to?" She mumbled on his chest, knowing fully he's able to hear her.

"Perhaps, they annoyed you" Lansel was skeptical about it.

"But why's all these happening? I only want to live my life as a weak supernatural. I want no powers" she ranted, her voice cracking at the end

"My family...I miss them" she cried, clenching a handful of Lansel's cloth from behind as she hugged him with all her might. Lansel let her pour out the tears for a while before pulling her back.

"Do you want to see your family?" He asked and Niamh's eyes twinkled excitedly.

"Can I?"

Lansel snapped his fingers and an illusion of the Calm Region formed. Niamh saw herself in her home. She saw her mom and sister, sitting quitely in the room.

"Mother?" Niamh called and tried touching her mother but ended up touching a thin air.

"It's an illusion, Neev" Lansel spoke as he moved closer to her

"She can't hear or see you, but that's what's happening in the Calm Region right now"

Just then, she saw Xerxes walked in. Unlike before, he wasn't wearing that his cheerful smile but a sorrowful and sad expression.

"Mother, I think I have to go to the Moon Realm" was the first sentence that left Xerxes' lips.

"You can't do that, Xerxes!" Awn-yah yelled.

"I can't just sit there when Neev is missing. The only thing I can do fr her as a brother is searching for her. She'll be found in the Moon Realm" Xerxes retorted.

"You could die, Xerxes. The Mist Forest is dangerous" Serephina said lowly.

"I want to take the risk, mother" Xerxes stubbornly insisted.

"I don't want to loose you too. Please stay with us and pray she's fine. Let's hope she'll return to us one day" Serephina stood up and hugged him.

Xerxes hugged her back, tears rolling down his cheeks

"Please come back, Neev"

Nimah was also in tears as she watched her family. "I will be back Xerxes, I promise I will. I'm sorry for leaving you but I have to, for that's the only way you can be safe"

Lansel snapped his fingers and the illusion disappeared. Niamh looked up at him and snuggled closer to him. Lansel froze. She didn't know when she did that but she needed a shoulder to cry on, no doubt about that.

The frozen statue, whose name was Lansel suddenly moved and patted her back.

"Neev" he called and she looked up

"When I end it with Damien, I promise to let you go back to your family" he assured, wiping her tears away. Lansel, himself was shocked by this side of him. He was never considerate, he never had soft spot on any aldy apart from his mother and sister. So, why her? What's happening to him?

"The Queen must be angry for I didn't obey her orders" Neev stated, pulling away from him

"I will take care of that" Lansel shrugged.

"But Your Highness..."

"Lansel" he cut her off

"You want me to call you by your name?!" She asked, visibly shocked and Lansel smirked

"Is it too difficult?"

"Perhaps I should call you Damsel"
