Sitting in a single room in a fancy restaurant were Viltz and Professor Kroft.
Viltz started the discussion by talking about a random topic and as Professor Kroft responded, he suddenly became paralyzed and misty-eyed.
Viltz put his hands on his head and recited the enslavement spell.
Professor Kroft suddenly woke up and his eyes returned to clarity.
"Master!"
"I'll come straight to the point, I want you to select those brightest students from the alchemy faculty and send them to me with the excuse that they will join a secret university project.
Remember, I only want the most elite of the faculty."
"Understood."
Opus Kroft bowed before walking away, leaving Viltz alone in the room.
"Hmmm, I guess the date I agreed upon with the lady of the lake is coming up. I should expand my own forces if I want to take on Dagon's true body."
Deciding what to do for tomorrow, Viltz opened a portal straight to his bed and fell asleep, waking at dawn.
Leaving the castle, Viltz called out to the huge dragon sleeping in the garden and watched it for a moment before deciding to give it a casual name.
"I was going to give you a random funny name but out of respect for both your dignity and my own, I have decided to disregard my intrusive thoughts for once and seriously think of a good name..."
From today onwards your name will be Ancalagon! It's not very original but you'll have to make do."
"Anca...lagon..."
The dragon repeated the name a couple of times before it started wagging its tail like a dog.
Viltz thought for a while before asking.
"Do you know the whereabouts of any lone dragons?"
"Master, I know of several. We black dragons prefer to be alone with our mates and we don't like to establish clans but we still contact each other from time to time."
"Good! I want you to take me to the nests of those dragons."
...
A year later, Viltz had managed to recruit another 7 black dragons. While the first dragon proved somewhat difficult to handle, the second proved quite the opposite as by then in addition to the large group of sorcerers, there were now also two dragons on the team. The next five dragons proved even easier to defeat.
To be even more prepared, Viltz managed to get another 15 sorcerers.
He had to kidnap them from both Nilfgaard and the desert countries. Looking at the group of 30 sorcerers and 8 dragons, all of them soldiers who would not hesitate to die if he gave them the order, Viltz's smile widened.
"I wonder if this will be enough to kill that monster..."
At the memory of the creature they would soon have to face, Viltz's smile was wiped off his face.
Viltz made a solemn face and ordered his soldiers to open the portals to Black Tern island.
Sensing the arrival of so many presences, the lady of the lake came out of the water and stood in front of Viltz.
The wizards around him did not know which way to look. There were even some who stared at the curves of the lady of the lake.
"Ahem!" Viltz shot a glance at his men before focusing on the woman in front of him.
"My lady." Viltz kissed the back of her hand and introduced her to his group.
"These are my men, all quite capable sorcerers. I also brought a group of dragons with me. It cost me most of my savings and a great deal of financial debt but luckily I was able to hire all of these people to help us.
Now, before we awaken this being, we must first prepare ourselves. We will use the line law of water flowing through the lake to empower ourselves."
"I see you have come quite prepared." The lady of the lake swept her gaze over the eight dragons and the 30 sorcerers and seemed to relax a bit.
"I too have made my preparations, though I have not managed to recruit as many fighters as you have, I believe they will not be a liability in the coming battle."
The lady of the lake waved her hand and two knights in shining armor and a sorceress stood to her left.
Three Vodyan stepped out of the water and stood to the lady's right.
Viltz scanned the group for a moment before nodding.
"Well, I think we should first discuss a detailed plan for..."
"No plan is needed!"
A blond-haired knight thrust his sword into the ground and proudly proclaimed.
"With the sword blessed by my goddess, no evil being will be able to resist!"
Viltz only looked at the idiot for a second before glaring at the lady of the lake.
"Artes may be a bit vigorous at times but he is reliable and his strength is trustworthy."
The lady of the lake averted her gaze and tried to sound convincing but her dwindling tone of voice only betrayed her embarrassment.
"As I was saying, we need a detailed plan.
Even if we have a large force and the enemy is weakened, we must exercise extreme caution. No ancient being is something to be underestimated."
The lady of the lake nodded and went elsewhere to discuss the plan with Viltz.
Half an hour later, they gathered the group of sorcerers who had already connected with the ley line and prepared to execute the plan.
The group of sorcerers surrounded the entire area, forming a circle and activated a spell in unison.
The water beneath the sorcerers' feet suddenly seemed to be sucked up as it began to recede throughout the area around them.
A few seconds later, a large empty area formed in the middle of the lake, where a stone temple filled with moss and algae could be seen.
Viltz did not miss the opportunity and together with the three Vodyan sorcerers began to conjure the surrounding water, forming a wall of ice that isolated the water in the area.
The 7 black dragons led by Ancalagon flew over the place and took a deep breath before launching their dragon breaths at the temple.
The temple could not withstand the fire of the 8 beasts together and began to collapse almost immediately.
A roar full of fury reverberated throughout the area but no one here could hear it due to the fact that everyone, including the dragons, had magical devices created by Viltz that isolated the sound.
Because Viltz was quite knowledgeable about the methods used by the beings created by Lovecraft, he took all the measures he could, including the creation of headbands that blocked any kind of telepathic communication.
Although these measures made it impossible for them to communicate with each other, for Viltz it was a better inconvenience than having his subordinates against him because of the mind control of others.
The roar of the monster echoed throughout the lake, causing the fish on the other side of the ice wall to tense up and some began to act strangely, slamming directly into the wall and dying in the process.
Viltz raised his hand and all the sorcerers raised their staffs as the dragons took a deep breath.
When he lowered his hand, all the sorcerers pointed their staffs at the ruined temple and launched their attacks while the eight dragons did the same.
With a bang, a gigantic 20-meter fish-man burst out of the ruins while blocking the attacks with his arms.
The fish man let out a roar before launching an attack with his claws towards one of the dragons flying overhead but the dragon easily dodged it and launched a whip with his tail that sent the fish man staggering backwards.
Viltz seized the opportunity and poured his energy into Aerondight before slashing through the air that sent a blast of cutting wind at Dagon's right leg, cutting his heel and causing him to lose his balance, falling backwards.
The sorcerers did not waste the opportunity and began to attack with more fervor.
The sorceress grabbed the two knights accompanying her and teleported right over Dagon's head.
The two knights immediately drew their weapons and prepared to pierce the creature's eyes.
The knight on the right gripped his spear tightly and threw it at the monster's right eye, driving it into its eye and causing it to explode.
The monster roared in pain and because of its roar, the second knight failed to thrust his sword and instead slipped and fell right into the monster's eye.
When their gazes met, the knight's eyes turned completely black and he froze in place.
His partner frowned and was about to help him up when the former grabbed his sword and thrust it into his partner's neck.
The sorceress was shocked and because she couldn't react in time, the monster stuck out its tongue and rolled it around with her before devouring her.
"Nooo!" The sorceress could only watch helplessly as her body was dragged into the creature's stomach.
"Noooo!" The lady of the lake watched in fury as all this happened but she had no power to stop it, she was not a warlike being so she did not know how to fight and in situations like this she could only depend on others, something that frustrated her greatly.
She could only bite her lips hard and hope that this grotesque creature would die once and for all.
