Viltz saw all this happening but he wouldn't be such an idiot as to jump in and save the damsel in distress in such a dangerous situation but seeing the sorceress being eaten gave him an idea, a very bad idea.
"Sigh, I just hope it works out like Men in Black. This will be an unpleasant experience but there are things one must do for oneself, I don't have time to do the same thing I did with the sea serpent."
Viltz gave the lady of the lake a nod before waving his staff and teleporting to Ancalagon's head.
Using his bond created by the slave mark he commanded all the dragons to immobilize Dagon and hold him down for as long as possible.
The dragons swooped down and firmly grabbed Dagon, who kept resisting, trying to get up.
"Master! We only have 30 seconds before he manages to break free! He's too strong!"
"That's enough."
Viltz deactivated the telepathic link and climbed down from Ancalagon's head.
The Dagon-controlled knight lunged at him but Viltz drew his weapons and cut off his head with a clean slash.
"I don't have time for you."
With haste, Viltz rushed into the monster's mouth.
Dagon tried to reel it in with his tongue but Viltz threw a few fireballs at it that left it scorched, though it quickly began to regenerate again.
Wasting no time, Viltz propelled himself with air magic down Dagon's throat until he reached close to the creature's organs.
Wasting no time, Viltz imbued almost all of his energy into the Aerondight sword, causing the sword to burst into flames.
Wasting no time, Viltz severed one of the heart's arteries.
A guttural roar was heard as the whole place began to shake.
Viltz grabbed at the severed artery that was trying to reconnect with the heart artery but Viltz was quicker and covered it with a barrier to prevent them from connecting.
"I don't have much time left..."
Viltz stood up and gripped his sword tightly, cutting more of Dagon's heart arteries and veins before covering them to prevent reconnection.
On the other side, Dagon opened his mouth wide and a large amount of energy began to gather in his mouth.
"We have little time."
Seeing this, Ancalagon became even more worried.
Viltz looked at the last artery connecting the heart to the rest of the body and with a fierce look and his face full of blood, he slashed with his sword while clutching at the heart that was his size.
Using his staff, Viltz teleported himself and the heart to a giant tempered glass fish tank, where he let the heart rest before transporting back near the lady of the lake just in time to see the energy gathered in the dagon's mouth dipersize itself.
"Whew. Looks like we triumphed."
The lady of the lake looked at dagon's inherte body and let out a sigh of relief.
"If only it were that simple..."
Viltz shook her head as she watched as illusory black tentacles burst from Dagon's head.
The tentacles piled on top of each other until they formed the Dagon figure but with tentacles protruding from all sides of his body.
"Interesting trick human insect. You are lucky I was weakened otherwise you would never have managed to kill my physical body so easily.
Now, mortal, for trying to do something as stupid as killing a deity, you deserve punishment.
I, Father Dagon, the ruler of the deep, sentence your body to be my vessel and I sentence your soul to be my servant.
your soul to be my slave."
"Yes yes! Very interesting!"
Viltz gestured to his men, who activated a chaining spell, coiling Dagon's soul into a cocoon of chains.
"Now, my lady, it is your turn to work."
Viltz pulled from beneath his tunic an oval-shaped gem that glowed with an orange radiance and had countless blue runes glowing on its surface.
The lady of the lake looked at the stone blankly.
"I figured I wouldn't have to deal with just her body so I prepared myself beforehand. This is the sunstone, I've imbued it with a runic spell that will confine that guy inside but it needs a large amount of pure energy to overwhelm Dagon's soul."
The lady of the lake looked at the stone with a bearish look, she understood what Viltz meant by great amount of energy, his divine energy. The problem was that the divine energy came from the faith of his followers and would not replenish itself.
"What do I do? If I accept I will lose much of the energy I have accumulated and end up taking longer to ascend to demigod."
The lady of the lake bit her lip and hesitated for a few seconds before finally grabbing the sunstone and pouring much of her faith power into it.
The stone began to glow and the runes on its surface began to swim like worms.
Viltz grabbed the stone and began to recite a spell as he moved closer and closer to Dagon's chained soul.
"This is... I sense great danger... I must escape!"
Dagon's soul exploded with great energy and began to break the chains around him but all his efforts were in vain as Viltz had already appeared over his head, plunging the sunstone into it.
The sunstone released a monstrous suction force that sucked Dagon's entire illusory body into it.
Viltz waved his hand and the other sorcerers deactivated their containment spells, revealing how in the place where Dagon's soul had previously been there was now only the sunstone floating and releasing a buzzing sound from time to time.
The runes that previously swam on its surface now became engravings of golden chains.
"The sunstone, such a magnificent magical gem and that foolish elf whose name I can't even remember used it to engrave a token of love, what a waste."
As he continued to dibagate to himself, Viltz contemplated the sunstone. A small black stain could now be seen within it, traveling along the inside of the stone and continually crashing against the walls.
"Enjoy your instance, you'll be here for a long time." Viltz smiled at the stone before opening a portal and placing it in a completely isolated secret chamber.
He then returned to the lady of the lake to check on her condition.
"My lady, are you all right?"
"I'm just a little tired, that's all I used up a lot of divine energy in one fell swoop."
The lady of the lake leaned on Viltz's hand and pulled out a diamond.
"In this diamond is recorded my knowledge of the path to divinity. I have to warn you beforehand, I am barely a divine being, the lowest in the divine hierarchy so my knowledge only covers that level."
"With this I am more than satisfied my lady."
"Now what will you do with Dagon's soul?"
"I have left it in a safe place where no one can enter, I hope it will stay there forever."
The lady of the lake only nodded, still feeling somewhat unsatisfied at the loss of years of accumulating faith power.
Viltz saw her like this and tried to comfort her.
"At least now he will no longer be able to spread his evil claws to your followers or the people surrounding the lake, you now have clear ground to do as you please and you will no longer have competition for followers."
Finished speaking, Viltz pulled Aerondight from her waist and returned her to her original owner.
"I don't need her anymore, you might as well use her to reward your followers."
The lady of the lake accepted and grabbed the sword, dipping it into the lake, causing it to disappear, swallowed by the water.
"Well, I have nothing else left to do here so if you'll excuse me..."
Before he finished the sentence, the lady of the lake put a finger to his lips and whispered so that only the two of them could hear.
"Stay, you can leave later."
Viltz ordered his soldiers to return to Stygga Castle while he stayed to have fun with the lady of the lake for a couple of hours before returning to his castle.
Now alone in his room, Viltz imbued his energy into the diamond, causing his consciousness to enter within it.
Opening his eyes, he found himself inside a swirl of golden water. Opening his mouth wide, Viltz began to absorb the water from the whirlpool. As he absorbed, a stream of information was being recorded in his mind and becoming clearer and more concise.
When he absorbed the last drop, the information in his mind finally became completely clear to him.
As he absorbed the last drop, the information in his mind finally became completely clear to him.
Letting his consciousness leave the diamond, Viltz stood reflectively as the diamond in his hands was reduced to dust.
"The divine path is so..."
Viltz could only sigh and shake his head, somewhat disappointed.
"This path to immortality is not what I seek. It is too restrictive a path. But some of its elements are interesting. Divine body and divine soul eh? I wonder if they can be recreated without having to tread the path of the gods."
According to the information in his mind, the divine path was divided into three ranks, divine being, demigod and god.
The contents of the diamond only encompassed the rank of divine self.
To attain the rank of divine self one must first choose a certain location to establish the basis of one's worship.
The next step would be to choose a certain domain with which one is in harmony in order to connect with it to gain the authority corresponding to that domain.
The lady of the lake chose the authority of virtue, which encompasses the five concepts of chivalry: courage, honor, compassion, generosity and wisdom.
Because the authority she chose was too broad and encompassed too many concepts, it was extremely difficult for her to advance to the next rank and she needed to accumulate much more faith power compared to others of the same rank with less broad authority.
The third step would be to formally establish a cult in which he would represent himself with his chosen authority, forming a self-image of a divine being for the faithful to pray to.
"According to the records, I can choose the authority I want but if my authority is the same as that of another divine being this can result in a confrontation to take away the other's authority, thus reinforcing one's own so one must choose carefully which atority one wants to bind oneself to.
Despite the fact that there were an infinite number of authorities, some more powerful than others, Viltz immediately discarded this path.
The authority itself, which would be coveted by any mortal of this world was nothing more than a restriction for him since when a divine being binds himself to an authority he cannot go against what it represents, an example of this would be how the lady of the lake cannot do things that go against her concepts of virtue.
As if this were not enough, a divine being would be bound to his divine domain and abandoning it would be the same as weakening himself to the minimum, making him always dependent on his divine domain as his place of protection.
Considering his plans to travel through the omniverse, Viltz would not think for a moment to bind himself to a world voluntarily, especially considering that this world would come to an end in 3000 years and all the beings that could provide him with faith would be frozen to death by the white frost.
The only thing salvageable from all this information were three pieces of information, the creation of divine energy, the creation of divine weapons and the transformation of a mortal's body and soul to ascend to being divine.
The first was relatively simple, it was simply a matter of using the power of faith along with authority to create divine energy with the attributes of that authority.
The second was also quite simple, it was enough to pour divine energy into a weapon or an object constantly until it transformed into a divine object.
The third was a bit more complicated as it involved ascending to demigod.
The first step would be to connect and understand the authority down to 1%, then use the refined divine energy from that 1% understanding and fuse it into every single cell of the body until it fills them all, forming a powerful body made of divine flesh.
The second and more dangerous step that caused the death of countless divine beings would be to alter one's own soul, causing it to transcend into something higher than a mortal soul.
This requires pouring divine energy with 1% understanding into one's soul and using that energy as a hammer to constantly compress the soul to the limit while carefully fusing the soul with the divine energy.
When the soul is compressed to the limit, it either breaks, killing its owner, or it evolves, transforming into a powerful divine soul.
"This information can be implemented to the Genesis project..."
Finished pondering, Viltz lay down on the bed and closed his eyes.
