As Viltz exited through the doorway, he came upon a rather comical scene.
The little white puppy was clinging to one of the zombie's legs with his jaw while Lena was pulling him with all her might.
Seeing him come out of the doorway, Lena let go of the little puppy and ran towards him.
"Brother! Help me! Sasrir won't stop biting that old man's ankle!"
Viltz patted his head and approached the little puppy, grabbing him by the soft part of his neck, making him go completely limp, loosening his jaw and sticking his tongue out to the side, making him look quite amused.
"Here!" Viltz handed the puppy, which looked like a stuffed animal because of how immobile it was, to his sister and she looked at it in admiration.
"Woaah! How did you do that?"
"Some species of animals have a soft part in their necks by which their mothers grab them with their mouths to carry them, it's in their nature to go completely limp when grabbed by that part of the neck."
"I understand." Lena nodded and snuggled the puppy in her lap before beginning to pet him.
"It looks like he's grown enough to start eating meat, you don't need to give him milk anymore, tonight I'll teach you a druid spell that you can form a bond with him and he won't disobey you anymore."
"Really? Great!"
Viltz stroked the girl's head before going to her room, from where she removed the mutated centipede eggs and took them to her temporary lab, where she placed them in an incubator.
He then began sorting through Professor Moreau's various notes and put them away on a shelf, then began examining the various machines he pulled out of the lab.
"Looks like the next thing I have to do is hunt kittens." Viltz smiled and a plan formed in his mind.
A few days later, he opened portals to the various cities he had previously been to and bribed the owners of a few taverns, as well as leaving them a communication crystal.
What Viltz asked of them was relatively simple, that they would communicate any news they heard about the witchers of the cat school, plus put a reward of 1000 gold coins to anyone who brought him a Fiend hatchling, the reward would increase by an additional 1000 coins for each additional fiend hatchling brought to him.
When he was finished, he returned to his castle and lay down on his bed.
Only a week later, the communication crystal on his desk vibrated and a voice with a strange accent could be heard on the other end.
"My lord! Someone has just accepted the task you entrusted, and it just so happens to be a witcher with a cat medallion around his neck!"
"Well, contact me when he returns from his mission, then I will pay you handsomely."
"Thank you my lord!"
Viltz turned off the communication crystal and opened a portal to Novigrad.
After waiting a whole afternoon, the crystal finally beeped again.
"My lord! The witcher is here! He brought two offspring of some strange goats with three eyes!"
"Well, I'm on my way."
Viltz turned off the crystal and opened a portal to the tavern.
A strange looking man with two swords strapped to his back was drinking ale while holding a bag that kept twisting in one hand.
The man turned to Viltz and looked at him with his light yellow beastly eyes.
"So you're the bastard who wants to experiment with this stuff eh?"
The man measured Viltz up and down with his gaze and spoke casually.
"You know, it took me a lot of effort to capture these little guys, if you want them, you must pay me triple their price. How about it little refined boy?"
Looking at Viltz's handsome face and well-groomed hair, along with the fact that he wore an ample tunic that hid his athletic figure, it was only natural that they would take him for some sort of rich kid or something.
Viltz just looked at the man with a look full of hidden contempt and sat down next to him.
"How should I address you gentleman?"
"I'm Brehen from the Cat school!"
"So it's that emotionally unstable freak Brehen, no wonder his attitude.
As I recall, this guy would carry out a massacre a few decades down the road."
Viltz smiled at the man and said, "No problem, it's just a few coins too many."
Reaching inside his tunic, Viltz pulled out a bag full of coins and tossed it to the man.
Brehen just glared at him and took the bag. As he was about to open it, suddenly his pendant vibrated but before he could react, Viltz threw a small wind bullet that hit the bag of coins, causing it to explode and a pile of gold coins, along with a green gas, came out of it.
Viltz conjured a blue barrier around his head and looked at the people around him, who began to faint one by one.
Diverting his gaze to Brehen, he watched as Brehen struggled to get up while staggering.
"It's useless, I have prepared this gas especially for dealing with witchers, I am aware of your exaggerated resistance to toxins so it took me a lot of effort to prepare something like this. This gas is the mixture of magic and alchemy, I hope you like it."
Viltz smiled at the man who only got to touch the hilt of his sword before falling to the ground unconscious.
Viltz grabbed the coins from the floor and put a few in the tavern keeper's pocket before opening a portal to the catacombs of the castle, where he tossed Brehen and the Fiend spawns.
"Tsk, no matter how high your senses and reflexes are, if something like that blows up in your face, there's little you can do."
Viltz chained the man with chains made of dimeritium and then went to the fiend hatchlings.
"Right, you guys are leaving with me."
Going down the stairs of the catacimbs passage, Viltz came to a huge square chamber where the zombies kept opening more tunnels and smaller rooms.
Reaching one of the rooms, Viltz left the pair of unconscious hatchlings inside before creating a stone door to seal the entrance to the room.
Climbing back up into the catacombs, Viltz stopped in front of a cell that held a chained wyvern that opened its mouth wide.
A zombie walked stiffly up to the wyvern and stepped into its mouth.
The wyvern fiercely closed its mouth and chewed on the zombie before swallowing it.
"Who would think a wyvern would end up in such a state." Shaking his head, Viltz looked away from the wyvern and opened a portal that took him back to Novigrad.
Leaving the city, Viltz wandered into the forest while using a spell that allowed him to detect nearby life forms.
After half an hour of searching, he finally came to what looked like a small settlement, where some nasty looking creatures were wandering around the place.
Putting a mask over his face, Viltz activated a spell that conjured a barrier around the entire settlement before throwing a bunch of vials of sleeping gas into the settlement.
The little creatures began to fall asleep one by one.
A few minutes later, Viltz opened a portal and began throwing the creatures into one of the catacombs rooms.
Counting the total, Viltz captured thirty creatures.
"Thirty Dopplers will be enough for me to create a method to mimic their abilities?"
Dopplers were one of the numerous races that inhabited the continent and their racial ability allowed them to copy not only a person's appearance just by looking into their eyes for a few seconds, but also to copy their memories and that was an indispensable skill for Viltz if he wanted to carry out his plans.
As he pondered, a crystal at his waist released a blue glow and Viltz quickly opened a portal to the outskirts of the castle.
Opening the portal to the Sedhna Abyss, a giant blue whirlpool appeared over the lake and three medium sized boats and one larger one fell into the lake.
Countless souls flew out of the interior of the ships and plunged into the central monolith.
Looking at the flag with the Jolly Roger engraved on it that flew out, Viltz smiled.
"Looks like my financial situation will finally improve a bit."
He summoned the zombies and ordered them to collect the corpses from inside and around the ships and pile them up on the shore of the lake.
"I wonder what treasures are in these pirate ships?" Viltz rubbed his chin and began to explore the medium-sized ships.
He found many barrels of rum, dried meat, wheat and other supplies which he transported to the hold of the castle.
He then entered the larger ship and began to explore it.
He found large amounts of jewelry, gold and silver, plus a few elemental gems and a low quality magical pendant that he simply tossed aside since things like that he could easily create himself.
After exploring some more, he found a treasure map that indicated where this group of pirates buried much of their treasure.
Pocketing the map, Viltz stepped out of the ship and conjured up a few fireballs that began to burn the ships.
Looking at the large pile of over 100 corpses in front of him, Viltz concentrated and activated the basic necromancy spell, reactivating the motor functions of the corpses and causing them to move again.
Opening a portal to a large catacombs room, Viltz ordered the group of zombies to pass through.
Once all the zombies were transported, Viltz ordered them to stand in a straight line, then conjured a spell that began to freeze the zombies one by one.
Finishing freezing the last zombie, Viltz looked at the pair of zombies next to him that he didn't freeze and ordered them," Follow me."
Opening a portal, he threw one of the zombies inside, where a pair of goat-creature-like beasts with one eye in their foreheads pounced on the zombie.
Opening a portal to the wyvern's cell, Viltz made the zombie enter its mouth and the wyvern swallowed it without hesitation.
Watching it swallow the zombie, Viltz nodded and exited the cell.
