Chapter 41 - Chapter 41:Murky waters village

Viltz entered the cell where the cat school witcher was chained and without saying a word, he conjured a flame and began to burn the man's feet with it.

The witcher started screaming, insulting and threatening but Viltz didn't care about anything the man said, he just continued with his daily torture session.

When he finished, he walked out of the cell and down the stairs to his lab, where a pair of centipedes were playing inside a small glass terrarium.

Viltz approached the terrarium and grabbed one of the centipedes, chanting a spell as he made eye contact with the insect.

A few seconds later, the centipede trembled for a moment before screeching and curling around Viltz's fingers.

Viltz grabbed the second centipede and did the same to it.

"If only controlling people was as easy as controlling these little guys..."

Sighing inwardly, Viltz put the pair of white centipedes back in the terrarium.

What he used on them was a druid spell, animal control.

With that spell, a druid could tame any animal, even monsters like griffins or wyverns could be controlled.

Looking at the machines he brought back from Professor Moreau's lab, Viltz rubbed his chin.

"Should I go to those secret labs I know and loot them?

Yes, let's do that."

The next morning, Viltz finished breakfast and dragged Lena to a doorway that led to the outskirts Oxenfurt.

"Where do you want me to take you, my lord?"

"Take us to Vizima."

Viltz handed a bag of coins to the carriage driver and sat inside the carriage.

Pulling out the memory glass, his conscience went inside and Viltz pulled out a new book he had not read before.

"Compilation of data on the origin energy of the world."

"Hmmm, interesting title."

Viltz opened the book and began to read.

"Source energy is produced at the core of the world itself and we theorize that it is the basis for its sustenance.

It is a much purer and more powerful energy than energies such as ether, demonic energy or elemental energy.

We, the great scholars of the empire, have managed to create a method of extracting this energy to create a weapon powerful enough to help us exterminate these loathsome winged reptiles.

A cannon powerful enough to bring down those ancient dragons over 100 meters.

With this weapon, our empire will rise to rule the entire continent and we will no longer have to live under the yoke of those dragons."

Viltz flipped pages and found that most of the other records in the book were blueprints of giant cannons that worked by connecting them to a battery filled with world-sourced energy.

"The cannon isn't very useful to me but the world-sourced energy battery could be of great use to me in completing the Genesis project."

Viltz spent some time memorizing the blueprints for the battery before closing the book and pulling his consciousness out of the memory crystal.

Pulling out his grimoire, he began to draw the blueprint he memorized earlier.

Lena looked at the various complicated layouts Viltz was drawing and asked curiously, "What are you drawing?"

"This is a blueprint, when you want to build something like for example a house,, a carriage or a weapon, you must first draw a blueprint that will help you know how to build it."

"I don't understand..." Lena lowered her head for a moment before sheepishly asking, "Can I draw too?"

"Sure!" Viltz took out her old journal and a pencil and passed them to the girl who grabbed them happily before lying down on her seat and starting to draw while resting her head on the belly of poor Sasrir, who lay down dejectedly after trying to escape in vain.

Viltz watched the scene and chuckled before returning to concentrate on his work.

Several days later, the carriage arrived on the outskirts of Murky Waters, a town south of the city of Vizima.

Stepping down from the carriage, Viltz took a deep breath.

He had big plans for this area, plans that needed a great deal of planning to make them work and above all, he needed allies to take on this large individual who could kill him if he was just a little careless in his future confrontation.

"I have to get that item first, only then will I be able to carry out my plans, as for that guy, I'll come back for him once I've finished gathering strength."

Viltz's eyes shone with determination as he took a step forward and entered the village.

The townspeople looked at the visitor with strange looks, this village was inhabited by mostly poor people and the luxurious armor and coat that Viltz wore marked a stark contrast to the dirty linen clothes of the villagers, therefore, it was quite normal that he attracted quite a bit of attention.

Ignoring the stares, Viltz approached one of the villagers and asked with a friendly smile, "Excuse me, good sir, could you point me in the direction of the village headman's house?"

"O...Okay!" The villager stammered out of nervousness and pointed to a particular house.

"Thank you!" Viltz smiled at the man and handed him a silver coin in secret.

The man looked at his hand and was ecstatic about the coin, quickly pocketing it.

Viltz arrived in front of the village chief's house and knocked on the door several times before he heard footsteps coming from the other side.

"Coming!"

A young and delicate voice was heard at the same time as the door opened.

A blonde girl with freckles on her face opened the door and was stunned to see Viltz on the other side.

"Is this my prince charming?" The young girl began to daydream as a woman behind her grabbed her by the ear and pulled her away from the door, greeting Viltz politely.

"Greetings sir! Is there something my family can help you with?"

Viltz smiled secretly at the woman's attitude, though it was quite normal for her to have such an attitude.

With his armor and two swords strapped to his waist, it was quite normal to mistake him for someone important and it was clear that this was someone he shouldn't be messing with.

Clearing his throat, Viltz proclaimed in a deep voice:" I am a priest of the great Levioda, Jarrix. A few days ago it was detected that there is an object of a demonic nature in this town, I am here to attempt to seal and remove that object from the town before it infects civilians, I ask you and your husband to please cooperate with the search."

The woman's face turned pale as her body began to tremble with fear, just hearing about demonic things made the common populace shiver as this woman was doing.

"Hmp! Pathetic! Living ignorant! In fear! Without any power to fight that which they fear! It is not to be like her that I fight and will continue to fight! No matter what it costs or what I have to sacrifice! I swear by my existence that I will break all these shackles and fly free like a dragon soaring in the skies!"

Unprecedented determination and conviction appeared in Viltz's eyes as he saw the pathetic state of the woman before him, clearing all his doubts and dislikes he had towards the path he himself chose to walk. His path was destined to harm and make many people suffer and after all, he was a person with a modern mindset that no matter how much he wanted to repress it, there would always be mixed feelings towards his own actions.

But all hesitation was erased from his mind as the sight of the pathetic middle-aged woman trembling with fear at just a few words from him, reminded him of his fragile and weak self that he decided to abandon and forget once he reincarnated. He didn't want to go back to being that weak child who could only

could only watch helplessly as misfortunes happened around him without having any power to try to stop them.

As Viltz was reflecting and remembering his past, Lena suddenly tugged at his hand.

"Mmm?" Viltz lowered his head and watched as the girl looked at him in confusion.

"Umm...But you don't...mmmm!...mmmmm!...mm!"

Viltz quickly covered the girl's mouth before she could blow her cover.

"Haha! Excuse the little girl! She's an orphan I found lying in a swamp, she was raised by some frogs so she sometimes makes some strange sounds thinking she's one of them."

"Mmmm!" Lena looked at him angrily but in the end gave up.

"Oh! I see! Poor little girl." The middle-aged woman straightened up and waved them in.

"My husband is in his office, I'll be right up to call him, you may sit here my lord."

Viltz sat in a wooden chair with Lena eating a cookie on his lap as he waited for the village chief to arrive.
