After finishing a pack of military rations, I prepared to leave my room.
My next destination? The Muta-genes Laboratory.
[Players on the property: Mansion
Name: Eva - Species: Human - Race: Earthling - Overall rating: F-
Location: 'Private Muta-genes Laboratory Building'
Status: Active]
(It seems she's also come to play early), I thought upon seeing Eva active in the laboratory.
The reason I'm going to meet her first is this:
[Inventory:
9mm Pistol x500
17-bullet Magazine x397
Water Bottles x498
Combat Ration x499
Private Deployment Flag (A)
Universal Emergency Potion x5
Wild White Rabbit Corpse
Goblin Corpse (Gobrakian)
'MK-516 Burst Rifle' Technological Chip (F)
Muta-genes Enhancer Material x176
Blood Extractor x89
Muta-genes Refiner (B+) x1
Muta-genes Eliminator (F) x56]
(I have two corpses ready and some other things for her entertainment).
I didn't forget what Luke said about her, so I thought I'd leave them to Eva and see what she could do with them.
"I also need to do something with that Technological Chip...", I exclaimed thoughtfully.
(Oh well, I have to build the Private (R&D) Laboratory and bleed out a few credits...), I thought resignedly.
There's a way to get this fabulous rifle in my hands in no time, what is it? Buying the materials at the tower's shop.
(A ridiculously expensive tower...), I thought with terror, remembering the prices for the clothes I'm wearing.
*Shake my head.
Shaking my head, I set off for the laboratory where Eva was located.
--
(Definitely looks great...), was my most sincere thought as I laid eyes on the Muta-genes Laboratory.
*Steps
*Steps.
*Push the door.
Upon entering, everything looked even more luxurious.
(Just seeing those black padded seats makes me feel like I'm in a super exclusive place).
It resembled some kind of hospital room, you know, a reception area, some seats, and stuff like that.
(Too bad it didn't come with a TV or something).
That's right, both here and in the mansion, there were no electronic devices, just furniture and some strictly necessary items.
[Eva:
Silent Shadow (You): "Hey, Eva, are you busy? I've got some things for you."
Eva: "I understand."]
*Take a seat.
(Comfortable).
The few times I've been to a hospital, their seats are pretty... stiff, unlike this place which isn't even a hospital, but it sure looks like one.
*Steps
*Steps.
At some point, Eva appeared.
Everything was the same, except for the doctor glasses she had on, which gave a... more serious touch to her serene and seemingly friendly face.
(Now that I look at her... does she have other clothes under that robe? Too bad she's got it closed), I thought as I observed Eva's professional appearance.
"Good morning, do you need anything?" Eva asked, standing in front of me.
Her face was quite serious.
(Did I interrupt something?)
"I have some... what are they called?... specimens?, yeah, specimens for you to see," I replied, trying to find the right words.
*Adjust her glasses.
She adjusted her glasses and said to me:
"Follow me".
I followed her inside the building and, as I did, I couldn't help but appreciate even more the discounts talent I got.
(Are those neon lights? Cool...), I thought as I saw the interior.
Literally, there was no place that didn't have some kind of luxurious detail, and that's just in the hallway.
We went up the stairs and passed through two large doors...
"It's here," said Eva, as she guided me to some kind of...
"Is this... an operating room?" I asked.
"Yes, sort of. It's adapted for dissecting subjects," Eva replied, then proceeded to give me a kind of lecture on what to do here.
A summary?
This is where the dirty work happens: separating parts that are useless or removing weapon residues and other harmful things for the gene collection process.
I approached a bed and...
*Expel.
*Expel.
I took out the two corpses I had in my inventory: the goblin's and the monster rabbit's.
(Just as ugly as last time...) I thought as I gave my first victim a quick glance.
*Steps *Steps.
"Interesting, their morphology doesn't seem very different from that of humans," Eva said, quickly approaching. She examined the goblin, clearly fascinated by its strange appearance.
(Doesn't seem like she's much of a fan of fantasy stories or animations...)
Considering she's a genius graduated from a prestigious university, these things shouldn't be of interest to her.
"Well, I'll leave you some stuff and be on my way," I exclaimed, immediately handing her the muta-genes-related items I had in my inventory.
After that, Eva escorted me to the laboratory's exit, bidding farewell before heading back inside.
(...)
--
I walked around the mansion's backyard for a bit, searching for an ideal spot to set up the Private Research and Development (R&D) Laboratory.
*Steps
*Steps.
"This place should do," I convinced myself in my mind after examining certain criteria.
Although everything could be summed up in one point: not being visible to visitors.
[Available slots for private buildings: 9
Are you sure you want to build a 'Private Research and Development (R&D) Laboratory'?]
"Accept," I said, and the same thing happened as with the muta-genes laboratory.
A hologram showed the silhouette of the building that would later become the R&D Laboratory.
[Materials needed: The tower will take care of that!
Remaining time: 14:00:00]
"Use the structure reinforcement and construction card," I instructed the Technological Core.
*Fuuuuuu!
And with an intense green light, the R&D Laboratory appeared.
"Hmmm, not very different, I must say...," I exclaimed as I examined the structure.
It had the same color tones as the Muta-genes Laboratory, its doors were also identical. Although it's true that its structure is different, more spacious?
This building was single-story, unlike the previous laboratory.
"Let's go in."
*Steps
*Steps.
*Open the door.
Upon entering, I could notice quite a difference, as instead of the reception room of the Muta-genes Laboratory, this place had... booths? Separate places where something was done.
Further back, there seemed to be a courtyard and other strange things.
(I wonder what that'll be...), curiosity invaded me, so I decided to enter those 'booths' first.
[Synchronizing with the Private R&D Laboratory...]
(Curious...), my Technological Core seemed to react upon entering the booth.
The booth wasn't anything out of this world; it had a long seat and a table with a place to rest the arm (highlighted), probably for Technological Cores.
[Synchronization completed!
The R&D Laboratory is equipped to build technology from rarity 'F' to 'S'.
Technological Chips available for construction:
-Technological Chip 'MK-516 Burst Rifle' (F) (It's possible to build it!)]
"Oh?" Curious, I selected the rifle and...
[Materials required for Technological Chip 'MK-516 Burst Rifle'
-Stainless steel or aluminum alloys
-Reinforced polymers
-Carbon fiber
-High-strength carbon steel
-Heat and friction resistant plastic
-Reinforced glass]
"Oh..." My curiosity evaporated when I saw the materials it needed.
[Tower Shop:
Carbon fiber reinforced polymers: 80 credits per pound]
I wasn't clear on the actual price, so I began to calculate...
"According to this blueprint, I need 7 pounds... 560 credits?"
(Expensive! Damn expensive!) Although I didn't know exactly how much that material cost in real life, I was sure it wasn't anywhere close to that price.
"I think it's better if I don't see the prices," I exclaimed determinedly as I purchased the materials.
[Thank you for your purchase!]
[Thank you for your purchase!]
[Thank you for your purchase!]
[Thank you for your purchase!]
[Thank you for your purchase!]
[Thank you for your purchase!]
[Remaining balance: 13,937,000]
(Out of sight, out of mind), I repeated in my mind as I quickly closed the notification windows.
[Materials for the Technological Chip: 'MK-516 Burst Rifle' are complete.
Do you want to build it?
Approximate time: 5 minutes]
"At least I don't have to wait."
*Sigh.
I sighed as I accepted.
*Zoom!
After that, all the materials I piled on that table were sucked away somewhere when it split open down the middle.
--
5 minutes later...
*Puf!
With that sound, my much-awaited weapon appeared, expelled from the same place where the materials I bought had gone.
I took it in my hands, and my first thought was:
(Great... expensive, yes, but great...)
The MK-516 Burst Rifle rested in my hands with an imposing presence.
Its matte black metal body radiated a sense of durability and precision that inspired confidence. As I held it, the ergonomic handguard molded perfectly to my fingers, offering a firm and secure grip, ready for any action.
The adjustable grip and retractable buttstock made the weapon a versatile tool, adaptable to any situation that combat could present.
