Chapter 1 - New Year, New Friends

~~~~~~~Marcus's POV~~~~~~~
"Finally here!" I say to myself as I walk into my still empty dorm room, carrying in the last box of my stuff, setting it on the floor next to the bed I chose. I stand up and wipe the sweat from my brows, feeling a little exhausted, but eager to start the semester and meet new friends. Speaking of, huh. I guess my roommate hasn't arrived yet. Wonder what he's gonna be like? I think as I start to unpack my stuff in the spacious dorm room.
~~~~~~~~Ethan's POV~~~~~~~~

I sigh as I walk up the stairs leading to the third floor of the dormitory, carrying the two small boxes and small backpack of my belongings. "Please, please just let me roommate be chill and ignore me" I murmur to myself.

I walk into the room, freezing as I see he's already here and already about unpacked. Oh great, I was hoping I could get unpacked before he got here.

~~~~~~~Marcus' POV~~~~~~~~
I hear footsteps entering the room, making me turn to see who it was "Oh! Hi there! You must be Ethan. My name is Marcus" I say, standing up as I see the rather small guy with bright green hair now in the room, carrying only two small boxes and a back pack. "Need some help getting the rest of your stuff up here?"
"H-h-hi, yeah I'm Ethan. N-nice to meet you...um....n-no this...this is everything." He says, shocking me as I look at him in awe. That's it? Two small boxes and a small backpack? How can he have so little?
"I.... really?" I ask, feeling kinda sorry for the poor guy as he sets the boxes on the floor next to his bed and takes off his backpack setting it on the bed.
"Y-yeah" he says, not even looking at me as he starts to unpack, seeming to want to avoid conversation. Guy must not be much of a talker. No matter, maybe I can get him to open up after a while. Still it concerned me that he didn't have much with him.
He finished unpacking quickly, or rather he had unpacked the one box and the backpack, just scooting the other box under the bed. That's odd, but whatever. After finishing unpacking he laid down on the bed, rolling over on his side, seemingly trying to go to sleep.
The boy must be tired, I thought to myself before shaking my head, removing an intrusive thought that had invaded my mind before adjusting the last of my things on my side of the room.
I went out, leaving Ethan to sleep to explore the campus a little, returning after an hour to find him just waking up.
"Morning sleepy head" I chuckled as he stretched and yawned.
"Morning dad" he said before his eyes grew wide and his face went flush with embarrassment about accidentally calling me dad. "I-I'm sorry, I'm so used to my dad waking me and I just-"
"Woah woah woah, hey calm down. It's chill, honest mistake. You're not used to living outside of home, I get it. It's not a big deal" I chuckled, thinking how cute he looked while blushing before trying to shake that thought from my head.
"O-oh, yeah..." he said, starting to get up, still blushing slightly embarrassed. As he moved I could swear I heard something, but I push that thought to the back of my mind until I sniffed the air.
"Hey, what's that smell?"
