"I think I now have one too"
Ciru was surprised, so much so that she couldn't form a word.
"Everyone has one" Tony said, while floating about.
"Flight, that's the best one to have in this kind of place." Alpha commented.
"What about you? What did you get?"
With a nervous smile, Alpha raised his hand up as if receiving something from the sky, and immediately after, blue light flashed for a second before revealing a well crafted spear on his hand.
It was brown with a black metallic head, being about a meter long , the spear seemed to have been crafted by the gods.
"Can you throw it? Or maybe make another one?" Curiosity filling his entire deminor, Tony asked excitedly.
"No, just like everyone else, I only know how to activate my ability, but can't really say about it's full capabilities yet."
"Can you craft another type of weapon or is it only a spear?" Ciru, stepping out of the daze, asked curiously as she looked to have brightened up almost like how she used to be back in school.
Alpha didn't answer her instead, he raised his hand that held the spear back up, and once again a blue light flushed and a second later his hand was revealed holding up a half a meter black machete that appeared capable of cutting someone in half at one go.
After the display a genuine smile spread across Ciru's face.
"My hands are growing."
"I can control those roots."
"With this I'm gonna fight that cowboy and become your saviour." Liam declared, as he raised his hands forming a triangle with them and immediately a gush of wind formed in the middle. With a grin he shot the ball of air upwards and shouted atop his lungs.
"Air ball."
Alpha could only smile at the sight, no one even paid Liam much attention but he still did it
"Looks like everyone has one, guess you were right again, damn that's a scary power to have." Tony said, looking at Dan who hadn't said a word since they started displaying their abilities.
"Trust me, flight is ten even twenty times better." Dan said, still maintaining a grim personality he'd created since Mercy displayed her ability.
Tony had noticed this, but couldn't really do anything about it. He asked him once, and not being someone who liked prying into other people's business, had dimmed the first answer he got enough.
"Now we can have a a slight chance of survival even in the forest."
"Not a slight, but a definite chance." Alpha said gripping the machete tighter.
....
White room, What was that exactly? Mrs Taiyo still sat on the hill of compiled skulls. Thinking back on it she really wanted the kids to have something to give them hope, but now, after she accidentally activated the white room, she wasn't sure anymore.
After activating it she'd supposedly found herself in her own bedroom from back home, though not exactly it but a mirrored version.
She couldn't touch or even interact with the room. Spending over an hour in that room trying to find a way back was almost haunting.
When she finally managed to touch and open her bedroom door, she found herself still sitting on the same spot like she never even left, before some kind of vague memories she didn't remember experiencing flooded her mind.
She figured her ability was white room, an ability capable of affecting anyone within a given radius, like how she affected the kids. But what really gave her a dread feeling was a glimpse of memory that appeared last.
There were thirty disfigured entities that'd somehow lost their humanity and were now roaming a forest same as this one.
She couldn't really make out their faces, but that dread feeling still remained.
"We can now leave this place, with this powers we can even fight that cowboy" Liam, who was still testing out his powers, said.
"Yeah"
"Let him come"
'How is it possible for people to be this dumb. Did they even see how strong that guy was?' Alpha lampooned as he watched some of his classmates. He new all too well that even if they all ganged up on that cowboy, there was no hope of winning. His speed and strength was far superior than theirs, and looking at this path, all these skulls, there had to have been people who also got abilities and still died by his hands.
Looking around, he could see a few kids who also doubted it. They still didn't know their full capabilities, so engaging in a fight with that guy was a death sentence which meant that their best bet of survival was avoiding him at all cost.
"What do you think about our chances of survival?" Alpha asked Dan, who looked to have been thinking of something. He could now believe that Dan's ability was somewhat related to the future.
"0, we'll all die"
"What?" Tony asked in disbelief, he thought he'd heard that wrong but looking at Alpha and Ciru's faces, there wasn't anything wrong with his hearing.
"What was that?" Dan's asked confused by the group's terrified faces, his voice different, as if he was a totally different person.
Alpha's heart raced, this was the second time Dan had acted like this, Was he playing with them? That couldn't have been it.
"Are we really not gonna make it?" Ciru asked, her voice breaking.
"Why would you ask that? Of course we're gonna make it" Dan looked even more confused as he answered her.
"You don't remember?" Tony asked both confused and terrified.
"Remember what?"
"What's your power?" Trying his best to ignore that answer, Alpha asked hoping for a different answer.
"I have no idea."
"Huh, I thought everyone figured out their power in that white room?" Tony asked confused.
"Wasn't it future sight? If not how do you explain how you know what's gonna happen."
It had to be related with the future, everything he had said turned out true, but there was this other thing, when he spelled doom he somehow seemed to forget it a second later, it's like he had another hidden personality.
"You just said that we won't make it." Ciru seeing as to how the boys were circling around the same point.
"When did I say that?" Dan asked, confused about the flood of questions he was receiving.
"Why do you do that? You did it before, and now?"
"I only remember Alpha speaking, but I never caught the topic and the next second I find you looking at me with terrified faces."
He didn't seem like he was joking so Alpha, again, decided to leave it at that. If he couldn't remember then there was nothing he could do about it. Dan was gonna figure out his ability sooner or later. Looking at Ciru.
"I told you I'm gonna protect you, and that's what I'm gonna do"
"Yeah."
Tony, after seeing this also decided to stop with the questions.
"Don't worry I'm gonna protect you."
"No way a skinny guy like you thinks he can protect me." With a smirk, Dan said, showing off his muscles under the green jacket, before adding. "Seems like I'll have to stick close to the three of you so I could protect you better."
'Hahahaha'
The four of them laughed out loud.
After seeing him smile, they looked to have all calmed down a little. No one knew what was going on in their heads, but for now they appeared to have forgotten the things that had transpired a moment ago.
'I wish everything was this simple' Seeing his friend smile and laugh out loud Tony couldn't help but somehow feel sorry for him. He could sense that something was going on with him but didn't know how to help him.
....
Everyone busied themselves trying to understand their abilities.
Mrs Taiyo was still trying to figure out what the memories she had after leaving her mirrored room, were.
She still couldn't sit right with the fact that everything seemed to be connected, the beings she saw were thirty in total, the same number as them. What did it even mean? And what was the purpose of this white room. Just like everyone else she only figured out it's activation method and nothing else. Was it the one that gave them abilities or did it just activate them? And what was this shadow they saw?
.....
The remaining hours of the night were filled with noises.
Chasing away the crimson light of the night, the yellow rays of the sun illuminated the forest.
"So it finally begins, the real Odyssey."
