Chapter 10 - Saved by a Ghost

Rowin had been watching Ryan struggle to escape and he came to a simple conclusion. 'The guy who can shoot those yellow chains seems to be the trickiest to deal with so he has to go. I also don't know what abilities the others have and I can't risk it since one of them might have a counter to my own. I'll just have to attack them all at once while they are distracted.'

Rowin then used his telekinesis to break the floor beneath him into four pieces. The four rocks floated around him as he pointed his arms at the group below. The rocks vibrated in place for a second before shooting down at the unsuspecting students. Rowin also leapt off the edge to finish off any who might have survived.

He could see that three had died instantly and one was barely holding on as the rock had ripped his arm off. Rowin immediately snapped his neck once he was in the range of his telekinesis. He stood above Ryan who could barely open his swollen eyes. He didn't even bother glancing his way, he just crushed his head with his telekinesis.

Rowin looked at the massacre he had caused yet he felt nothing. There was no revulsion or disgust. He looked at the spreading pool of blood and it felt no different than a puddle of water after rainfall. Rowin's thoughts were interrupted by the rumbling of his stomach. ' That's right, I haven't eaten today.'

With this thought, Rowin levitated out of the area in search of a restaurant, his quest for Chris temporarily on hold. It took a while but Rowin ended up in a cafe. He could smell the scent of bread and cake as soon as he opened the door. Rowin noticed that the place was full of people who had stopped to look at him.

"Grab a seat bro." One of Chris' clones said while dismissing another that was seated beside him. Rowin simply took the empty seat and was immediately served some chocolate cake with coffee by another clone. "What's with the bloody shoes?"

"I killed a few people before I came here. Mhhm! This cake is amazing, the moisture in it is perfect." Rowin said as he wolfed down the cake on his plate. The clones just stared at Rowin until one of them finally asked.

" Are you okay? How do you feel?"

" Still kind of hungry. Can I have some more?" Rowin answered while pointing at the empty plate. The clone that had served him the first time brought another plate with a bigger piece of cake.

" I'm not talking about your stomach, I'm talking about your mind. You must be going through a lot after taking a life or multiple lives for that matter. How are you holding up?" The clone asked with a concerned voice.

" I don't really feel any different. Just a bit tired from using my ability to much." Rowin answered between mouthfuls. He was choking a little but his coffee remained untouched. He never really liked coffee.

"You are way more cold-blooded than I could have.... RUN!" Chris' clone suddenly yelled as the whole group faced the kitchen. The synchronized movement of the clones didn't end there as they all rushed to the kitchen. One of the clones had stayed with Rowin and had pulled him outside the cafe.

"I'll distract him with my clones so you can get out of here." The clone said while pushing Rowin away from the cafe.

"We should just team up and kill this guy." Rowin said, not realizing how he had just considered murder as the first solution to a problem.

"We can't, his ability is a perfect counter to yours. I also can't do much other than force him into a stalemate. Just head to the top of the tallest building in this city, another clone will be waiting for you there." The clone said and turned to face the door of the cafe. There was a lot of yelling and cursing coming from the clones in the cafe.

"I'll be heading there right away so your clone better be there." Rowin said as he slowly levitated. He proceeded to shoot into the sky but he immediately felt something heavy press against his body. Rowin tried to use his telekinesis to push his body higher but he felt the weight increase.

Rowin tried to find the person causing the sudden increase in weight but he was pushed to the ground before he could. He was now standing beside a kneeling Chris. Rowin was using his telekinesis to remain standing but he knew that it wouldn't last long. He was using too much energy and he hadn't recovered from using it before.

Looking ahead, Rowin could see a chubby guy standing there with his nose in the sky. The look of disdain coupled with the guy's arrogant smirk irked Rowin to no end. Pissed, Rowin tried to use his telekinesis to throw the nearest object at him. The nearest object just happened to be Chris' clone.

The clone was lifted about a meter into the air before getting slammed into the ground. Turning his head, Chris could see Rowin lying beside him, bleeding from his ears. His body was unmoving, probably unconscious.

Chris stared at the chubby guy who was slowly approaching them. The look in the chubby guy's eyes told Chris that he was responsibile for the pressure they were experiencing. He could also see a sadistic smile hinting that the chubby guy enjoyed the feeling of superiority.

The chubby guy was now a few steps away when he opened his mouth to speak. Chris excepted a voice filled with arrogance but all he heard was loud gurgling and chocking. Looking up, Chris could see a long, deep gash across the chubby guy's neck. He was grasping at the wound, futilely trying to cover it.

The chubby guy fell while still grasping his neck. Blood flooded out of the wound, soaking his shirt. His body kept struggling in the throes of death for a minute before finally going limp. Chris was so shocked by what had happened that he hasn't even realized that the pressure had vanished some time ago.

Chris cloned himself multiple times before standing up. The clones formed a barrier around him and Rowin's unconscious body, prepared to fight anyone that came close. Chris tried to gently awaken Rowin before slapping him awake when it failed.

"What happened?" Rowin asked the instant he woke up.

"I saved both your lives." A different voice that seemed to echo all around them answered. The clones immediately started searching for the voice while Rowin erected a telekinetic dome around himself and the clone closest to him. "Relax, we're from the same class. Codename Ghost."

"Don't you mean pervert?" One of the clones said.

"Call me what you want, Sloth. I saved you so you owe me." Ghost said with the same voice that echoed all around them.

"Then show yourself because it feels really uncomfortable talking to you like this." Chris said while looking around, expecting him to show up anywhere.

"Here I am." The same voice said, this time without the echo. Chris and Rowin froze when they saw the shirtless guy with a chiseled body and blue dyed hair. What made them freeze was the fact that he was seated inside the dome Rowin had put up to protect them. Ghost was holding a bloody knife in his right hand and a beer bottle in his left.

"How did you even get a beer? You know what, don't tell me. I don't wanna get involved in your bullshit." Chris said casually. Rowin was silenly listening while wrapping his body in a barrier. He felt threatened by Ghost's ability. Chris and his clones simultaneously flinched before turning to the cafe.

"We need to run!" Chris yelled as two of his clones helped support Rowin who couldn't even walk properly. They rushed away from the cafe, leaving Ghost who was staring at them with a raised eyebrow.

"I just took out the guy who was about to kill you, who else are you running from?" Ghost shouted at the group that was quickly getting further away. He turned to the cafe just in time to see someone leave the place with a knife in hand. The girl was tall and lithe with sky blue eyes and black hair. Her expressionless face was without a doubt among the prettiest Ghost had ever seen.

The girl closed the distance rapidly and thrust at Ghost's chest. Ghost could tell how inexperienced the girl was when it came to fighting just from her first attack. He side stepped easily and stabbed at her exposed neck. The shock on Ghost's face when his attack passed through was indescribable.

Jumping back, Ghost distanced himself from the girl and vanished. The girl merely snickered and spoke aloud. "Turning invisible won't help, you can't hit me either way. "

"And you can't hit what you can't see." Ghost's voice echoed all around the girl who was looking around trying to find him. "I'm very patient, so the instant you turn solid a knife in your neck is the first and last thing you'll feel."
