Chapter 11 - Deadly Battle

Rowin glanced behind him and could see the girl attacking the air. He knew that Ghost was fighting her which gave them time to escape. Rowin made a mental note to thank him if they met in the future. Facing ahead, Rowin could see two new clones acting as scouts. They would check the alleys before the group that carried Rowin would pass.

The group had been running for about ten minutes when the glass from the third floor window of a building ahead of them, shattered. The one who had broken the window was a young man dressed in the opposing classes' uniform. A pale grey light coated him as he spun in the air and landed safely on his feet.

Chris prepared himself for a tough fight but another, much larger person, fell from the window. Rowin breathed a sigh of relief when he noticed that it was Titan with Beam on his back. They landed heavily and separated in an instant. Titan charged at the guy coated in grey, his heavy footsteps cracking the road.

The grey light coating the guy intensified as he also charged at Titan. The two met in the middle with Titan purposefully taking a hit just to land a punch of his own. Titan stood firm but his opponent went flying. The guy happened to be unlucky enough to land near Chris. The clone didn't hesitate to attack while simultaneously splitting into more copies.

In seconds the guy was surrounded by an angry mob of clones. A flash of grey light would occur and a clone would be injured but the clone would be replaced by a healthy one in an instant. The clones would occasionally shout insults at the guy for refusing to die but it didn't seem to help. The crowd of Chris' kept stomping on the guy for over five minutes before one of them left the group and headed towards Titan.

"My method isn't working. I'll hold him down so you can attack." As soon as the clone said that to Titan, the group of clones changed tactics and grabbed the guy. Ten clones held the guy and they still seemed to be having trouble keeping him still.

"Hurry up and finish the job, we can't hold him for long." Every single clone spoke simultaneously causing a similar effect to that of Ghost speaking. Titan charged forward again and cocked his fist back once he was within range. A heavy punch was thrown, aiming for the guy's head.

The grey light coating the guy's body vanished and appeared around his head just before the punch landed. There was so much grey light surrounding his head that it resembled a miniature star. Titan's attack landed and all of the clones holding the guy loosened their grip, not wishing to go flying with him.

Time seemed to have frozen with everyone staring at the results of the attack. Titan's hand was still outstretched but his previously confident gaze had wavered. He was the only one who knew just how powerful his attack was but the results were unprecedented. Nothing. No sound, no broken bones, no blood, not even any resistance.

Titan's fist was pressed against the grey light but the plan hadn't succeeded. Three people acted at once with two of them being Chris's clones. The guy was the third since he had expected the attack to be blocked. His grey light was spreading out to cover the rest of his body.

The two clones that acted had been the ones holding the guy's legs and they were ruthless with their actions. One of them had thrown a hook aimed at the guy's liver while the other had thrown an uppercut to the groin. The spreading grey light managed to reach the liver in time but the second clone hit home.

A horrifying sound that was the combination of a scream, a cough and a yelp left the guys mouth. The guy covered the area but the damage was done. All he could do was curl up into the fetal position with his hands on his crotch. Rowin, who watched everything unfold, subconsciously flinched and covered his own family jewels.

Something cool and wet splashed onto Rowin's back but the situation turned grim in an instant. The liquid became scalding and an intense itch that made Rowin want to rip his skin off came after. Rowin frantically took off his shirt while trying to scratch the affected area. He could see the one who had caused his misery smirking but Rowin was in too much pain to care.

The itching spread to Rowin's fingers, forcing him to stop scratching. He stared at his hands, terror in his eyes. Blood covered his palms along with a slimy green liquid. The liquid was the cause of the itching as it corroded his skin and flesh. In a rage, Rowin turned towards the culprit and used his telekinesis to smack the person into a nearby alleyway.

Ignoring the intense burning sensation of his back, Rowin charged after the person in a bid to finish them off. He only took two steps into the alley before his steps faltered, causing him to stumble. His head was pounding and his guts felt like they had tied into knots. Rowin could see that a girl was standing before him with a smile. She had blood flowing from a wound on her forehead, most likely sustained when Rowin threw her into the alley.

Rowin was about to continue attacking when his eyesight turned foggy. His stomach tightened and an intense feeling of nausea made him immediately start to vomit. As he vomited, his heart seemed to want to beat out of his chest, his throat seemed to close up as breathing became an uphill battle.

"What did you do to me?" Rowin struggled to ask as he fell to the ground. He knew that this was the girl's doing but he didn't know exactly what it was.

"You are experiencing the symptoms of neurotoxic poison all at once. It's a nasty way to go but you deserve it for making me bleed." The girl said as she walked past Rowin's spasmming body. She was about to leave the alley when she suddenly spoke. "Don't worry, it gets worse as you get closer to death."

Rowin could only helplessly stare at the clear sky above through the space between the two buildings. He was doing everything he could to stay awake and maintain his breathing. Rowin subconsciously knew that it was futile but his will to live made him forced himself to prolong his own suffering.

On the street, Chris was in a tough situation. Titan was out of commission after a green slime splashed on his face. Beam was trying to help Titan but it only caused him to be touched by the slime. One of Chris' clones had also been affected and after checking his condition, he realized that the clone was poisoned.

Chris ducked to the left as one of his clones flew past his body. The clone's chest had caved in and he was unable to stand. The clone disappeared with a flash but was replaced by another one. Chris saw that the girl had left the alley but Rowin hadn't. He was worried but he couldn't do anything about it.

Chris watched the girl carefully and prepared for a sneak attack from her. Surprisingly, the girl ignored Chris and headed for Titan and Beam. Chris wanted to help but he had reached his maximum number of clones. All of them were already busy holding back the grey coated guy.

Beam hadn't noticed the girl since his back was turned which resulted in a shocking amount of green slime splashing on his back. He frantically turned around while scratching his back. His eyes were emitting a gold light like a charging laser but he didn't get a chance to fire. Another ball of slime splashed on his face, blinding him.

Knowing that her opponent was doomed, the girl finally went to assist her classmate. She occasionally threw out the toxic slime balls but she couldn't seem to find the original clone. The grey coated guy was also in a similar situation. He had been destroying his opponent but couldn't find the original.

Chris was doing his best to force the two opponents to waste their energy since he could keep cloning himself indefinitely. The only problem was the mental strain since the clones shared the pain. He was doing his best trying to find a chance for one of his clones to escape. If one of him could escape, he could survive.

"Aaaahhhh!!! " An ear shattering scream came from behind them and the fighting stalled for a second. Everyone turned around and saw Beam on his knees. The golden glow from his eyes was so intense that his face was obscured.

Chris felt dread as his heart dropped. He tried to run but was too late. He only took a step before the world turned white.

In the dorms at school, Chris woke up screaming, his heart pounding.

In a lavish room, Chris woke up screaming and looked around but he only saw a naked woman beside him.

At a table in a bar, Chris shot to his feet and checked his surroundings. After calming down, he chugged a bottle of beer like heaven was at the bottom.
