After the nurse patched me up-all she did was give me an ice pack for my swollen eye that was sure to be black tomorrow-I was cleared to go home. So, I threw my helmet on, started my bike, and drove off, heading for my house. Once I made it, I slowed, and parked, then turned my bike off and went inside, placing my helmet and keys on the table. "Wait a minute." I told myself, turning back to the door, and looking down at the porch. An envelope sat there, pure white, and sealed with red wax. "What?" I bent down, picked it up, and looked around, but no one was close enough to have just now delivered this. Maybe it'd been delivered when I was in school. Anyway, I closed the door, and sat at my counter with its black marble top. For a minute, I stared at the envelope. "I didn't apply to any colleges, and I didn't write anyone a letter. Maybe they have me confused with someone else." I turned the envelope over, searching for an address-and there it was. My address. No mistake here. Ignoring the unease in my stomach, I ripped the envelope open, and unfolded the letter inside. It read, in cursive:
Dear Shelby Lee, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into our university. You will be expected to arrive tomorrow with all personal belongings for a tour of the campus and to settle in. You are scheduled to arrive no later than 8:00 am. Thank you for your time.
I blinked, processing the words. I was, apparently, moving into a university that I knew nothing about and that I hadn't applied for. I'll admit, as skeptical as I was of this, I was also curious. So, I threw the letter away, changed into my hero-ish outfit-which was a skin-tight, black bodysuit that had a hood with wolf ears, and boots without a heel. I then went out to patrol the streets like I always did on my bike.
