I threw on my black hoodie, ripped black jeans, and black boots. I brushed my hair, full of blood-red and white and gray and black streaks. Black had been my natural color, but I thought it looked plain, so I had decided to dye it. I also put on my dog collar, complete with spikes, and threw my bag over my shoulder. I grabbed my keys, and my helmet, then started my motorcycle, and was off to school.

I parked near the front, and shut the bike off, letting my helmet hang on one of the handles. Then, I looked up at the big school. It looked more like a college, with its tall, brick walls, and small, clean windows with thin ledges. I didn't know it yet, but today would be so much different from my usual routine. So, I headed into school, and went to homeroom, ignoring the stares and whispers. About half the school didn't like me. The other half thought I wasn't bad but didn't try to approach me. Well, other than my best friend, Levi. He knew what I was really like under all the emo and goth. He took his seat behind me. "How's your day been?" He asked me, smiling as bright as the sun. Or maybe brighter than it, I couldn't tell. "Fine. And yours?" "Not bad. I hear we don't have to do a lot of work today. Think it's true?" Levi here was more of the gossip-talker than I was. There was no interest in it for me when I could tell what everyone was like with just one look. "I hope so. High school work is intense." I replied as the bell rang.

Eventually, first period ended, and it was time for second. But I had to take a quick pit stop. I did my business, and when I came out, I saw some guys waiting for me. I sighed, shaking my head. They all always try and get under my skin. It never works. Seeing how messed up my family is, I don't think anything else could earn a reaction from me. One of them grabbed my arm as I passed. I stopped, giving him the death stare, even though I was shorter than him by about two, maybe three feet. No matter who I used this on, my death stare always worked. It would freak people out, and they'd end up staying away from me, exactly like I wanted. I protected myself and Levi and citizens but no one else. "What do you want?" My voice e was cold as ice, but calm as a gentle breeze blowing through the trees. "Don't stare at me like that, it's rude." "Says the one who bullies others to make himself feel better. I know you only bully so other people feel the pain you do in your household." His grip loosened. His eyes showed a hint of fear. "Ho-Nevermind, that's not important. But what is important-" "Is getting your grades up? Honestly, with all your failed classes, I'm shocked to see you here." The bully didn't answer. Then, after minutes of silence, he spoke up. "Shut up! You don't know anything!" "But I do. I know your name. I know your personality. I know how to tell your folk from others round here." He didn't answer at all that time. Instead, he pulled me out to the football field, had his goons block the entrance, and cracked his knuckles. First, all was silent, still. Only the wind could be heard. Then, as fast as the hero Flash, he tried to punch me in the face. I sidestepped, rolling my eyes, and threw him in a headlock, scowling. I usually didn't start fights. And I hadn't started it. He had. But I sure as hell would finish one.
