Chereads / Surrogate Wives For Billionaire / Chapter 9 - Despised by the Birth Mother

Chapter 9 - Despised by the Birth Mother

"That's enough." Billy cut in because Alice's words had gone too far with Danera. He didn't care how Alice hated Danera. But Danera was now Zayn's wife. If Danera came to hate the Gillard family, it wouldn't benefit them.

"Danera, don't listen to what your mother says. Your mother didn't sleep last night because she was worried about Doriane."

"I understand, Dad." Danera's expression remained calm as if she didn't take Alice's words to heart.

"Well, since Zayn didn't come with you, I have to go to the office. I'm almost late." Billy checked his watch and hurried away.

Only Danera and Alice were left in the living room.

"Why are you still here? Aren't you leaving?" Alice sat on the sofa gracefully and reached for the magazine on the table. She didn't care about Danera's presence.

"I'll leave after getting my things from my room, Mom. I didn't bring anything yesterday when I followed Zayn."

"Your things?" Alice glanced at Danera and then realized that she was wearing the dress Doriane had bought. The look on her face immediately turned displeased.

"You're wearing Doriane's dress in Zayn's room? Quickly get your things and change your clothes. Return Doriane's dress to Zayn's room. It was bought in Paris and is very expensive. When Doriane comes back, she won't be happy about you wearing her clothes. And don't you dare touch or get rid of Doriane's clothes and things in Zayn's apartment." Alice warned her sternly. She said it was as if Doriane had come back anytime and become Zayn's wife. Danera only replaced her temporarily and had to leave when Doriane returned.

"Yes, Mom." Danera turned to go to her room expressionlessly. She replaced the dress on her body with casual clothes: a short-sleeved white t-shirt and long jeans. She quickly packed all her belongings in boxes and suitcases.

A servant knocked on the door of the room and entered.

Danera turned to look at the maid, who was carrying a large box.

"What is it?"

"Miss, I will help you pack your things. Madame wants this room vacated as it will be used as storage."

Danera fell silent and smiled mockingly to herself. It seemed like Alice couldn't wait to kick Danera out of this house. Danera's status wasn't even certain, and she didn't know how long she would be living with Zayn.

If Zayn kicked her out and divorced her, Danera would have no place to stay in the Gillard family.

Did her mother hate her this much?

"Miss?" The maid called out to her, but Danera did not respond.

Danera smiled and said, "Yes, there is no need. I don't have enough luggage. I'll just bring my clothes and some personal items. The rest you can throw away."

Danera stood up and lifted a large box of personal belongings and important books in her hands. Her clothes had already been put into a large suitcase. Danera didn't have many belongings or clothes. Alice was so stingy with her allowance that Danera had to work part-time elsewhere and scrimp and save. She doesn't like to buy a lot of things or fancy clothes. She just has a lot of used clothes or clothes that Doriane doesn't want. Danera left all of Doriane's old clothes in her room.

The maid was surprised to see Danera carrying only one box and a large suitcase.

"Is that all, Miss? There's still a lot of stuff, and it's a shame to throw it away."

Danera could only smile. "You can take them if you want. I don't need those things."

Some were just unimportant decoration items and dolls from her childhood.

"I'll take this." Danera picked up a shabby little panda doll. This was the only doll from a gift from her parents before they abandoned her.

Danera would think of this doll as her last memory of a once happy child in the Gillard family.

"Alright, I'll go; you can take or throw things in my room." After saying that, Danera walked out of her room, holding a large box in one hand and pulling a large suitcase in another hand.

"Did you bring all your stuff?" Alice looked up from the magazine and looked at Danera, who passed through the living room carrying a large city bag and a large suitcase. She nodded in satisfaction as she saw that Danera had replaced Doriane's dress with casual clothes that looked shabby.

"Yes, Mom."

"Hm, that's good. You're an adult and should have your own place. Your room is vacated because we need a new warehouse to store things. Since you won't be using your room anymore, it's better to make it a warehouse than to leave it empty. Danera, you don't hate us, do you?"

Danera tried to keep smiling. "No, Mom."

Alice sighed and complained. "This family isn't as rich as it used to be. Our family offended the Wilde family so much that they stopped investing. But Danera, since you're married to Zayn, make sure to persuade him to help your father."

"I'll try, Mom."

Alice gave her an annoyed glance and sneered. "You're so insincere and rude. You obviously don't want to try to help this family. We've raised you all this time, but you have nothing to contribute to helping this family. If only Doriane were still here, she would have helped your father attract investment and persuaded Zayn."

Danera sighed. Whatever she was about to say would always be wrong in her mother's eyes.

"It's only my first day of marriage, Mom. I can't persuade Zayn that quickly to help father."

"Hmph! You're just useless. How can you possibly compare to Doriane? Doriane has been Zayn's girlfriend for five years. When Doriane returns, you'll have to hand over Zayn's wife position to Doriane. Remember, you're only a temporary replacement for Doriane in her absence."

Danera looked at her flatly and didn't want to respond to Alice's words.

"I'm going, Mom."

"Get going. Don't forget to ask Zayn for help in finding Doriane and persuade him that Doriane was actually kidnapped, not abandoned."

Danera took a deep breath and walked quickly out of the living room. Once outside, she exhaled a tight breath. She walked quickly away from the Gillard family home. She didn't go back to Zayn's apartment and only ordered a taxi to take her things to the apartment.

She didn't feel like going back to the cold apartment. She also couldn't go to her work at the studio as a fashion stylist.

The Gillards didn't know that Danera worked as a regular fashion stylist. They only knew Danera worked for a big company as a regular employee, and therefore, they allowed her to work. In order not to attract her mother's attention, Danera only secretly worked as a fashion stylist.

Danera's dream was to become a fashion designer, but Alice didn't allow her to major in design because she wanted to discourage her dream and didn't want Danera to stand out from Doriane.

Alice wanted Danera to be ordinary and even wanted her daughter to be hidden from the social circle of the underworld so that everyone would only know Doriane, her favorite daughter.

Therefore, no one knew about Doriane having a twin sister except for her immediate family and the Wilde family, who only recently found out about Danera when she proposed to Doriane.

The Gillard family did not support Danera studying abroad like Doriane or her dream of becoming a designer.

All the Gillard family's money went into raising Doriane to be the heiress of the family company and a socialite in elite circles. At the same time, Danera went to an ordinary domestic university and was kept as a business marriage tool.

Danera sighed, standing dazedly in front of the photo studio. She didn't realize she had walked this far to her workplace. The signboard of F&D Asher Studio stretched in front of the entrance.

She wondered if she should go in and hand in her resignation letter to her boss. Danera loved her job, and her boss was very nice. She had been working with her boss for four years and couldn't just quit without notice.

As Danera was thinking, the studio door opened, and a handsome man came out.
