Chapter 13 - Sick Old Granny

"Madam, that's not necessary, and I'm not looking down on you. I am married, after all."

"You are married? What a pity, but my grandson is very handsome. Many women are crazy about him. Shall I show you his picture?" Alisha fumbled in her coat pocket. "Where's my cell phone?"

"Madam, you don't have a cell phone. You don't have to pay back my money." Danera sighed and looked at her with pity. The old lady looked like she had nothing and was sick.

"Hmph! You're not very grateful for your good fortune. Well, forget it, don't say you regret it after learning about my family."

"It's okay, Madam. My family is also quite rich. I don't lack anything. Madam, do you have a family? Do you remember their phone numbers? I'll call your family to pick you up." Danera didn't want to linger on the old woman's nonsensical remarks and was worried that her illness would recur.

Alisha looked at Danera with raised eyebrows. "Of course, I have a family. But I don't want to go home now. I just arrived in this city and want to go sightseeing. Young Miss, since you said you're rich and don't lack anything, you should help me buy some gifts for my grandchildren."

Danera stared at her with her mouth agape.

"Let's go." Alisha immediately turned to leave cheerfully.

Danera couldn't help but feel anxious about letting an old woman who might have Alzheimer's disease go alone.

"Madam, wait a moment! We haven't paid the bill yet!"

...

"Young Miss, you're very generous."

Danera just smiled while inwardly grimacing. She accompanied Alisha from shop to shop, buying some clothes the old lady thought were for her grandchildren. Danera felt bad if she refused because she had almost used up her one-year savings.

"Your taste in clothes is good, by the way. But why are you wearing such shabby clothes." Alisha criticized the casual clothes Danera wore.

As a designer for forty years, she couldn't stand the shabby way Danera dressed. Danera had good taste in choosing gifts for her granddaughter, but the way she dressed was so shabby.

"Madam, you don't deserve to criticize me. Your own clothes are very eccentric."

"It's not eccentric, but a fashion trend," Alisha argued. She didn't want to admit that she wore the wrong clothes during her illness relapse.

"Whatever you say, Madam. When are you going to call your family? It's already five in the afternoon. Your family must be anxiously looking for you." Danera coaxed Alisha after they rested on one of the park benches.

But the old woman did not look worried and licked her ice cream calmly.

"Hmph, my daughter never cared about me, her biological mother. She only cares about her useless husband. For twenty years, she didn't allow me to meet my grandchildren. All because my disliked son-in-law brainwashed my daughter."

Danera was silent for a moment while listening to Alisha's story. "Twenty years you never met your daughter and grandchildren? Who took care of you all this time?"

"I have only one daughter, and she cares more for her own family. I have lived alone for thirty years in Paris." Alisha said sourly.

"Then why are you here? What... because you're sick?" Danera said carefully.

Alisha immediately glanced at her but did not reprimand Danera. She sighed. "Have you seen? I'm sick, and I don't have long to live. I want to see my daughter and grandchildren before I die."

Danera gave her a concerned look and took Alisha's hand while squeezing it gently. She did not say any comforting words.

Alisha looked at her. "Why don't you ask why my daughter and I are twenty years apart or comfort me?"

"This is your family matter. It is inappropriate for me, a stranger, to know about your family."

"Then comfort me. This old granny is going to die soon. You must comfort me."

Danera looked at her and smiled carefully. "I can't comfort with soothing words by saying you'll live a long life because it will make you have hopes and then be disappointed."

"Young Miss, you are too honest to be annoying," Alisha said sullenly. "You have more sense than the people I've met. You know those people can't wait for me to die and pretend to comfort me so they can get an inheritance from me. Hmph, they are so hypocritical. Young Miss, I will give you one more chance to obtain my favor." Alisha puffed out her chest proudly.

Danera glanced at her watch and said. "Madam, let's call your family or people you know to pick you up immediately. It's almost evening, and I need to get home."

"Young Miss, you don't believe me? Don't treat me like a sick old granny." Alisha said in frustration. She did not like being indebted, and Danera did not say whatever she wanted.

Danera stared helplessly. "I will be grateful if you go home and rest, Madam. You can send money to my bank account number according to the money you spent on these gifts if you have money."

"Of course I have money!" Alisha grumbled, offended by Danera's last sentence.

Suddenly, Danera's cell phone rang. Danera was a little surprised when she saw Zayn's name appear on her phone screen.

She immediately picked up Zayn's call and moved away from the park bench.

"Hello Mr. Zayn ...."

"Where are you? Why aren't you at the apartment?" Zayn's cold voice sounded unhappy on the other end of the line.

"I... I was out looking for wind. What's wrong with calling me?" Danera replied in a low voice.

Zayn could be heard clucking. "We have to visit my family for dinner. You should be there now in ten minutes. I'm on my way home."

"Ah, okay. Can you give me your family's home address?"

Zayn immediately disconnected the call and then sent the address of the Wilde family home to Danera's cell phone, telling her to come quickly.

Danera checked the address Zayn sent and then returned to the park bench.

"Madam, I have to go now. How about you call the people at your house to pick you up, okay?"

"You just go. I still don't want to go."

"Madam, please don't be like this. You should go home and rest. I can't leave you. I'll call the people at your house to pick you up, please?" Danera couldn't leave an old lady with Alzheimer's alone in the park.

"Alright, alright, where's your cell phone," Alisah said reluctantly, asking for Danera's cell phone.

Danera looked relieved and gave Alisha her cell phone.

"My driver will be here soon. You can go home, young miss." Alisha returned Danera's cell phone after calling the driver.

"I will wait with you."

"No need. Don't treat old granny Alzheimer's." Alisah snorted while crossing her arms in front of her chest.

You do have Alzheimer's, grandma, thought Danera.

Danera observed Alisha. She looked normal and dignified, which indicated that the disease had not relapsed. She checked her cell phone and recalled Zayn's words to arrive at the Wilde residence in ten minutes. She had no other choice and left Alisha after telling her not to go anywhere before her family came to pick her up,

After Danera left, a luxurious limousine car stopped in front of Alisha.
