Emily frowned and replied. "This is the Cooper family, who used to be our neighbours. Their daughter, Leticia, was Zayn and Joyce's playmate as children."
Mrs. and Mr. Cooper stood up to greet Alisha with a smile. "Hello, Mrs. Wiston; I have often heard about your achievements in the Alisher brand. I didn't expect to meet you in person."
"Our daughter also admires you very much. Leticia is a designer, and she's a fan of yours." Mrs. Cooper introduced her daughter.
Leticia straightened up and smiled elegantly, "Hello, Mrs Wiston; I didn't expect you to be so young and beautiful in person. I like all your brand designs."
Alisha nodded politely. "Thank you, it's nice to meet you."
"Hello Grandma, I'm Janeth ...." Janeth came forward to greet her enthusiastically. She had never met her uncle's grandmother-in-law but had heard much about her. Alisha Wiston was one of the wealthiest women in the world compared to the Wilde family.
She owned a brand-name company and a diamond mine. If Janeth could impress her, she might benefit. Her agency tried hard to get Janeth to become Alisher's ambassador but never got an offer.
"I didn't know you had another daughter," Alisha said as she glanced at Emily.
"This is Janeth. She's my husband's niece."
"Ah, your husband's niece?" Alisha instantly turned indifferent and gave Janeth an unfriendly look. "Don't just call me Grandma; I don't have any poor relatives from that lowlife."
Janeth widened her eyes and was not pleased with Alisha's reply.
"Mother, don't look down on my husband!" Emily looked at her with a cold expression.
The lowlife Alisha was referring to was her husband. Emily did not like her mother putting her husband down. This was why Joshua chose to go out of town rather than welcome his mother-in-law's visit to avoid her scorn. Alisha had disliked her husband since the day Emily got married.
"Am I wrong? Don't acknowledge relatives who have nothing to do with you. Don't let them make trouble for you." Alisha retorted not to be outdone.
Zayn cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention away from the argument between Emily and Alisha.
He knew about the bad relationship between his parents and his grandmother.
His grandmother had come to visit after decades of not visiting them. It was not good to show their family problems in front of guests.
"Grandma, you just came. Let's sit down; I'll have the servant prepare some tea for you."
Alisha's expression instantly changed when she looked at Zayn. She approached him quickly.
"Zayn, you've grown up. I missed you so much." Alisha held his hand tightly.
Zayn just smiled a little. "Long time no see, Grandma. How have you been?"
"I'm good. I always wanted to see you, but your mother never brought you to Paris to visit. Now that you've grown up, I regret not watching you grow up." Alisha groped Zayn's face with a face full of longing. "You look a bit like your mother. So beautiful and handsome."
"If you miss it, why don't you come to visit? Grandma just doesn't want to come visit." Joyce said in a sarcastic tone.
She had never been close to her grandmother because she had never met her since she was born. Joyce often heard about her grandmother, who always looked down on her father. That's why she immediately disliked her grandmother, who had just come to show a fierce attitude.
"Bad girl, can't you be polite?" Alisha turned her head to reprimand her unhappily.
Before Joyce could reply, Emily cleared her throat. "There are guests here. Mother, be nice to everyone. Everyone take a seat; sorry for the inconvenience."
Everyone returned to their seats.
Alisha just snorted and then turned her gaze to Zayn. She then noticed the woman who had been quietly standing by Zayn's side and was surprised.
"Young miss, why are you here?"
Danera greeted politely. "Hello, Madam."
"Grandma, do you know her?" Zayn asked, looking at Danera and Alisha in turn.
"Yes, we met this afternoon. How did you get here, young miss?" Alisha looked at Danera with an attentive and curious gaze. She was especially seeing Danera standing next to Zayn.
"I'm ...." Danera seemed hesitant to introduce herself.
"She's my wife, Doriane, Grandma." Zayn, who introduced Danera, was indifferent.
Alisha widened her eyes in surprise and clapped her hands hard while laughing loudly.
Her actions startled the people in the living room.
"That's how it turned out. Young Miss, no wonder you refused to be matched with my grandson. It turns out that you're already married to my own grandson, hahaha... it's like fate."
"What do you mean, Mom?" Emily asked in surprise, then looked at Danera. "How did you meet, Doriane?"
"I met Madame when she-" Before Danera could finish her sentence, Alisha interrupted.
"We met when I was lost. I forgot my wallet and cell phone. This young miss helped me make phone calls and pay for my groceries. I spent her savings on gifts for my grandchildren. She's a very nice lady." Alisha took Danera's hand and looked at everyone in the living room.
"I'm telling you, women today are very rude and impolite to an old woman like me. Only she still has the conscience to help an old woman who is lost and has no money." After saying that, she winked at Danera.
"I told you, young miss, I'm very rich. You can ask me for anything. I'll reimburse you for all the money I spent."
"That won't be necessary, Madam." Danera grimaced as everyone's eyes fell on her. Even Zayn gave her a strange look.
"Call me Grandma. You are my granddaughter-in-law now." Alisha looked pleased.
Joyce snorted. "How could there be such a coincidence? Maybe she's been investigating Grandmother and pretending to help to look good in front of Grandmother."
"Bad girl, can't you say anything nice? Why do you always speak sarcastically? How have you been taught all this time?" Alisha reprimanded Joyce. The girl had always looked cynical and unhappy since her arrival.
"That's enough, and we have guests here. Mom, sit down, don't just stand around and make everyone uncomfortable." Emily interjected, feeling a headache from the conflict between her family members. She looked at the Cooper family with an unpleasant expression.
"Sorry to make you uncomfortable. Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Yes, of course, we haven't seen each other for a while. It's also nice to meet such an admired businesswoman. Leticia must have been happy to meet her idolized designer. She couldn't even take her eyes off Mrs. Wiston." Mrs. Cooper said, looking at her daughter.
Leticia blushed when she got a look from Alisha.
"Mom, don't embarrass me."
Emily smiled lovingly at her and turned her gaze to Alisha.
"Mom, Leticia is a fashion designer and a top graduate from abroad. What if she works for your company? I heard you're going to open a branch in the Capital and hire designers."
"If she wants to work, she should come apply for a job. I'm looking for talented Fashion designers and have no intention of opening the back door (using insider connections)." Alisha replied indifferently.
"Mom ...." Emily looked awkward because of Alisha's words. So did Leticia's parents.
Leticia straightened her back and still smiled gracefully. "Grandma, I want to show you my talents; of course, I want to use my skills when applying to companies and taking interviews."
"That's good, and I'm glad to see a woman who is so confident and has talent." Alisha nodded with satisfaction, then turned her gaze to Danera sitting next to her.
" Sweetheart, how about you?"
Danera was surprised at being asked so suddenly and said. "Me? What about me?"
"Don't you want to apply to my company?"
Danera laughed stiffly. "How could I possibly? I'm not a foreign graduate- I mean, I'm not a fashion designer." Danera wanted to say that she was not an overseas graduate in the field of design but immediately corrected her words because she was using Doriane's identity.
"Really? It's a shame, but you seem to really like fashion. The clothes you choose for my grandchildren are very fashionable."
Danera could only smile awkwardly.
"But if you want to learn to be a designer, I can teach you."
Alisha's words immediately shocked everyone.
Leticia bit her lower lip, feeling a bit jealous.
Danera's eyes widened in surprise, looking very pleased. "Is that okay?"
Zayn glanced at her to see the pleased and hopeful expression on Danera's face.
"You like being a designer?" He asked subconsciously.
"Ah, yes... I like designing clothes." Danera smiled shyly.
"Then why didn't you major in design long ago," Joyce replied scornfully.
"Right, I didn't know you wanted to be a designer. You always said you wanted to be with Zayn and majored in business management so you could live with him in college," Janeth said sarcastically after being ignored for a while. "Don't tell me you want to study designer so you can be close to Grandma?"
