Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

His aura was intimidating, and anyone in his right mind could sense that he was angry, surprisingly nervous, or.... confused.

Confused...Yes, that was the correct word.

Goddamn! It was quite difficult to say.

As an Alpha, he truly was a good fit. He possessed all the qualities needed in a pack leader. To be fair, Raven was not quite this vicious before the tragic incident. Cold, bloodthirsty, intimidating, unyielding, and merciless. His heart was pricked by Chloe's death, leaving a deep scar that would never heal and unleashing the demon within.

"Alpha or Raven...?" Playfully, Simon enquired. His misbehavior attempted, but failed, to soften my gaze.

"Your Highness..?" Jeremy chuckled at the address. With his right hand on his chest, he bowed deeply.

They really had a great variety of sarcasm. Struggling to keep my cool under their taunts, I tried not to take offense.

"Whatever! Would you please just put your ass in the fucking seats? I gave a fierce, authoritative growl. Alpha tone.

"Raven then..." With a shrug, Simon took the seat nearest to me.

"Could I get a sandwich?" With his hands on the red button that called for a maid, Jeremy was prepared to press it as soon as Raven gave his okay.

Without even looking at him, Raven acted as though he had not heard his request. Well, maybe he didn't, in which case he should give it another shot.

"Sandwich, please." With that mischievous smile on his face that irritated Raven the most, Jeremy asked hesitantly.

With an angry glare in his eyes, Raven lit a cigarette and dragged it icily. He released a wisp of smoke, but his Gamma remained fixed on his burning eyes.

 "All right..." Disappointed, Jeremy scoffed.

"What's up?" Simon could tell that this was related to pack security based on the expression on his Alpha's face. For an Alpha, maintaining pack security was the most crucial and significant duty.

With pride, Raven cast a quick look at Simon. Unlike his Gamma, who was playful and obstinate, his beta was everything he could have dreamed of—serious and committed.

 "Hmph." Jeremy mocked Raven's ideas.

"Alpha, you are to blame. To justify his misbehavior, Jeremy shot back, "My service is actually not needed for now."

Alright, his Gamma was dead on. As the pack's third-in-command, the Gamma's responsibilities were all related to the Luna. keeping watch over and making sure the Luna was cozy and safe.

The likelihood of Raven finding his mate was extremely low, if not nonexistent, as of yet.

"There is a human in the pack."

Jeremy and Simon exchanged a bewildered look. A human in the pack—what could be wrong with that? What made this particular human unique in the pack was the large number of humans already present.

"She does not have the seal..."Bringing his assistants out of their reverie, he said.

"I take it that she wants you to get one for her?" My beta inquired. He always thought, of course, in terms of plans.

 As a response, I nodded.

"No, but her brothes are part of this pack." In the Ash tray, Raven let go of his cigarette stick. "They were guests." He chirped while putting his arms across his chest.

"Oh," Simon exclaimed.

"All right, so..." Jeremy was still perplexed as to why they were meeting over a person whose brother was paying them a visit but who did not have the necklace. Was this why the Alpha had cut short his private moment with his partner?

Haaa!! Goddess of the Moon!

How did this dumbbell become his Gamma, Raven wondered? Oh my! Indeed, he now recalls.Jeremy possessed incredible speed, which would come in handy when trying to locate Luna and ensure her safety.

"Jerry..." With pity, Simon pursed his lips and gave his ignorant friend a nod. "Raven mentioned that her brothers are werewolves, but she is human," he said, choking his words so that his friend would comprehend.

"Oh..." Though his friends could swear he did not understand even a little bit, Jeremy was nodding slowly, as if he was picking up his lost pieces. This was his only son, but his father was regarded as the wisest werewolf in the history of the northern packs.*Sigh*

Poor being...he only got his father's good looks.

Raven looked at Jeremy in the hopes of seeing a smile, but Jeremy was acting very serious, as if he did not comprehend. His beta was fortunate enough to acknowledge that he understood, but even so, his Gamma could be a drama queen most of the time.

"Was that really possible?" Simon questioned while leaning back in the chair and massaging the side of his head with two fingers.

"Yup.." "One of her parents must be human and not just an average one," Jeremy winked and grinned. His eyes wavered, first going dark black for a minute and then returning to their typical shade of forest green. His demure smile, which filled his face and made him appear as pure as an angel, was frighteningly beautiful.

Raven grinned, knowing full well that his Gamma was aware of his thoughts and had even made an exact guess. Raven was not surprised that Jeremy thought more quickly and intelligently than Simon because Jeremy's father was the starlight pack's most revered and feared warrior. He was also the current Gamma and minister of defense. Not just an average human...

Alpha Raven was well aware of the type of person his Gamma was referring to—their most hated foe, the werewolves, who were constantly alarmed by their presence. Their onslaught was like a merciless death that was creeping up on them.

"Hunter..." Simon mumbled, looking as pale as if he had never set foot in the sun because all the blood had vanished from his face.

Raven experienced a slight tremble in his legs upon hearing that word.Hunter...

He was the next Alpha to rule this Pack, and he targeted the hunters and a few rogues first...he already had complete control over the humans.

Because they thought werewolves were evil and should not exist, hunters engaged in numerous battles with and killed large numbers of werewolves. Prioritizing the destruction and torture of all werewolves until the world is free of them was their top priority. For their kind, they even had an association that went wood-hunting at night.

 Association of Werewolf Hunters.

The she-wolves who lost their mates in the Starlight Pack were assigned tasks or work to keep them busy; they were not considered outlaws. Some of the reliable individuals worked for the Royal family. This instills a sense of accountability and provides them with a purpose for existence. If they so desired, some decided to become fighters for the pack. However, male wolves were assigned to specific roles within the pack from the time of their birth.

The majority of she-wolves return to their pack and their families. But like a wolf breaking from its pack, it was forbidden now. Making sure his wolf stays with his pack is Alpha Zion's responsibility. Pack is kin.

Because the majority of the wolves who left his pack turned out to be traitors, that is why he did that. Rogues...

Every werewolf's mind is still filled with the name "Anita Stone." The werewolves never forgot her name, and a whisper of -Ani- sent shivers down their spines. Anita was determined to eradicate all evidence of them and bring them to extinction. She launched attacks on the north, east, west, and south werewolf regions. Before being captured along with her allies three years ago in an attack spearheaded by Alpha Raven, she was the most formidable and feared rogue. He wanted them to suffer the same agonizing death as his departed loved ones, so he killed the majority of them brutally while kidnapping the strongest and sending them through earthly hell. When Anita took control of their pack many years ago, she was unstoppable, causing the people to suffer and long for death. Raven was not even very old at the time, but the event was too traumatic for her to forget.

She was the leader of the Starlight pack's warriors until she took the priestess' mate, which she continues to insist is hers. Leading the werewolf hunting association, her mate was a human. A she-wolf could typically only have puppies as a mate, but Anita was a known stealer, and she gave birth to three pups for the hunter, Michael. According to the pack history book, the priestess had turned him down because of his kind and position. For putting the safety of her pack before her mate bond, she was honored to this day.

For Anita's mate—her stolen mate—she had betrayed her pack. She started to pose a threat to the pack following Michael's passing. An unstoppable best, a rogue... werewolf with traitor's blood.

Jeremy voiced his hypothesis, "Maybe she is just a late shifter." He really did not want to be at this meeting, and right now all he wanted was a sandwich.

 Disapprovingly, Raven nodded.

The messenger described the human girl as being no younger than twenty-five years old, while the werewolves' most recent shift was sixteen. The fact that her brothers were werewolves and paid her a visit was still unsettling.

Ahaa.

While his head was still on his neck, the guard from the Royal Palace ought to pay homage to the Moon Goddess at the temple..

*Sigh*

Well.. blame Ashira for being a precocious child. She definitely didn't look like a teenager.

"Why didn't they grow up in the pack?" Nick arched his brow, exchanging glances with both of them. His gaze lingered longer on Jeremy. He seemed to be more knowledgeable about this topic.

Raising his shoulders and extending his palm, Jeremy said he did not know the answer to that one. Gently, he repositioned his hands on the red button.

"Rogues..." An instantaneous reaction filled Raven's face with anger, and his eyes darkened.

"No, I do not think so," With his hand still on the bell, Jeremy was prepared to ring whenever his Alpha gave his OK. "Perhaps their mother belonged to the she-wolves who moved in with her family after losing their mate."

"When it was not against the rules." Simon finished speculating with his friend.

"Perfect!" Jeremy nods and gives his astute beta a quick finger snap.

Simon turned to face Raven and asked for his thoughts, or perhaps a decision. Although he did not think this case warranted a meeting, Alpha was the pack's ultimate guide, and because he has Alpha blood in his veins, he could sense when danger was approaching. His size, strength, and astute security judgment set him apart from other wolves.

With closed eyes, Raven did not say anything more.

"Alpha...?" Jeremy had no patience.

After a moment, Raven turned his face toward the window and stopped responding. He was still wearing his eyes tightly closed.

"Transport the Human girl here." He gave a quiet command.

Jeremy stiffened as well, and Simon shifted uneasily in his chair. Having a human inside his chamber meant only one thing. An extra terrestrial hell creature...

"Ra..." Jeremy was cut off by Simon's grip on his hand. Simon put a hand on his enraged back and shook his head twice. He was well aware of Jeremy's intentions, and in this particular case, it was not a wise move.

Jeremy had always despised the idea of Raven punishing and torturing every human that came his way. Seal of immunity bearers were not left out; rather, they were fortunate to escape being imprisoned in that fucking cage.

"Right away, Alpha..." With a small nod, Simon stood up and dragged an enraged Jeremy with him.
