Midnight, Unknown orphanage
Veritas woke up and hurriedly got off his bed, and grabbed his pre-prepared bag off the desk before looking towards a window with a lock on it.
Today was the day Veritas finally leaves the orphanage for good.
Well more like escape.
He quickly picked the lock with two thin, bent pieces of copper and opened the window. Looking at the lush forest before him and breathing in the fresh air. He no longer had any regrets about his choice
Leaping from the window onto the ground, he looked back one last time at the orphanage.
Veritas was 16 which made him the oldest kid in the orphanage by a long shot and even if he were to report the orphanage for misconduct and be transferred to another orphanage. His chances of being adopted were not looking so good.
Veritas decided that before he planned to leave he needed to have a job lined up. After sneaking out to do multiple interviews, he barely got accepted as a janitor at Potentia Academy.
Potentia Academy was an academy for champions, champions were people who are bestowed a virtue of a certain domain which could do miraculous things.
As for what that had to do with Veritas, it was nothing, as he wasn't an champion he didn't worry about the academics and could only happily think about the money he was about to make after he got his first paycheck.
"I'm finally free!" Veritas happily yelled as he was running through the woods, approaching the nearby city where the academy was located
The city was known as Libertas, the city of freedom. Veritas walked into an abandoned building he had scouted ahead of time and walked into his "room", which in reality was just a makeshift bed on the floor and a full length mirror that was already in the building previously.
Veritas looked in the mirror and at his appearance. A young man with dark brown hair that reached his shoulders, silver eyes that demanded honesty, and fair skin that contrasted against the gloomy environment.
He was currently wearing a plane white shirt with white trousers, as that was the main outfit of the orphanage. The academy would be providing him with a proper outfit before he began his job so he didn't worry too much about his plain looking clothes.
Veritas layed down on his makeshift bed and thought about his time at the orphanage. He's been there as long as he could remember and didn't know what his parents looked like. The people at the orphanage were kind and caring but unaturally strict when it came to the outside world.
Besides books and general knowledge that was taught at the orphanage he knew almost nothing about the world around him. Veritas, who was naturally restless and full of energy wanted to escape and go out into the world. Which lead him into his current situation.
He thought about the kids who were almost like his family and felt an emptiness in his heart knowing that he would never see them again. Of course, he made a report to the proper authorities so they would likely be relocated somewhere better.
With a sigh, Veritas covered himself with a sheet and closed his eyes.
