Lucas was surprised at what he heard. He looked at his wife with piercing eyes. Gladys was afraid of Lucas when he's angry but she still knew that he wouldn't hurt her. The one she was mostly afraid of was uncle Josh, he held so much power that Lucas obeyed him in most things. Even the people from the palace in the capital city respected him.
Lucas: " Gladys, what's uncle talking about? I told you to take care of the girl. Why is she a slave in our home?"
Gladys: " I.... I just asked her to help out with some chores. I didn't even know that she's a slave in our home..... maybe something happened that she was treated this way."
Gladys tried to explain but the pain in her soul increased the more she spoke. Her face became paler and cold sweat drenched her dress. Lucas looked at his wife and knew that it was all her doing but he couldn't let his uncle hurt her because of a girl they didn't know. Lucas sighed then spoke to his uncle.
Lucas: " uncle Josh, Gladys didn't know that the girl was made a slave. She was just asked to help out in some work around the mansion. I know my mistake because I was the one that assured you of her safety. Please uncle can you forgive me I'll try my best to rectify my mistake."
Uncle Josh just stared at Gladys the whole time. The woman didn't even apologize for her mistake she just let his nephew take all the responsibility. He never liked this woman, there was evil in her heart that couldn't escape his eyes. Uncle Josh withdrew his aura stood up then started walking away. Lucas hurried after him to stop him.
Lucas: " uncle Josh, I've already apologized. Do you want to be angry at us for an outsider?"
Uncle Josh stopped then turned to face his nephew together with his family. He roared at them.
Uncle Josh: " That girl is an outsider but her mother saved my life. I had not yet repaid my debt to her then she died that debt had to be repaid to her daughter but what did my family do? You made her into a slave. No clothes, food, she sleeps with the pigs. Is this how I should repay my savior? I've asked around at how she was treated and I'm ashamed to call you family."
Lucas was startled by his uncle's words. He knew how to repay his debt especially to people that saved his life. Some that saved him have been taken care of all their life together with their families then how could he not see his uncle's burden.
Gladys was surrounded by her children but she wasn't even remorseful for the things she did.
Why would she care about his savior. Her home was not for charity. If he wants to repay others he can do it on his own. Uncle Josh saw the vicious light in her eyes, he didn't care about his nephew's feelings anymore this woman had to learn a lesson.
Uncle Josh directed his spiritual qi into Gladys body then directed it to her spiritual core then shattered it. Gladys screamed at the pain she felt when her core shattered. She fell backwards but her son Jason and daughter Justina held her quickly.Spiritual energy dispersed from her body, and she vomited a mouthful of blood.
Lucas ran to his wife but there's nothing he could do. She was now a cripple. Jason was shocked at what his grandfather did to his mother. Justina and Paul were crying at their mother's side. Carol with her son Drake together with Jane and her daughter Paula just watched the events silently. They knew the type of woman Gladys was.
Gladys was gentle, loving and understanding woman in front of Lucas but when Lucas was away she was a vicious vengeful woman that no one wanted to be around. She suppressed them in every way that it was hard to live peacefully. Now that she was crippled they didn't feel remorse for her in fact they were celebrating.
