Jean didn't even hesitate when she found a motorcycle packed out of that building, she boarded and rode off. Anyone could tell from her speed that she was used to this kind of thing.
Her expression couldn't be seen clearly because of the helmet but from her narrowed eyes, she was not in the mood to have fun anymore, she was famished and everything had to wait till she was satisfied. After thirty minutes of riding, she packed her ride before the HEAVENS ESTATE gate.
That was where her home was located, Heavens estate was one of the classy residential areas in Jade city where elites only stayed. No ordinary person with mere money could afford a residence here. The Felix's mansion was one of the few mansions in this high end place.
She scanned her finger on the biometric before the gate opened. If you stayed here, you didn't have to worry about security at all. Jean stepped in her house after walking for some time, it was dark and it seemed like everyone was asleep. Jean was used to these instances in the military.
But before she could tiptoe upstairs, the lights lit up.
"Where is the young lady coming from?" For the first time after years Jean felt warm and embarrassed, Valery had waited for her.
Jean scratched the tip of her nose awkwardly, she could tell it was Madam Valery who was asking. After her eyes regained focus, she tried to come up with a lie but no ideas popped up. Damn this is the effect of hunger, she blamed it on her stomach.
In the she just smiled sheepishly, "OK, I kept some food for you pick it up from the microwave."
Madam Valery just raised her eyebrow when she saw Jean bobbing her head up and down like a kid. This was the first time she saw Jean behaving like a kid before her. She had always respected her but never had she been free with her or even have a girl talk with her.
"Go ahead I will be upstairs, learn to come back early ok?"
After she disappeared from her view, Jean was also baffled by her actions. Had she been craving motherly love for so long? But it doesn't erase the fact that she did wait for her till midnight, Jean felt some warmth in her heart.
This is the mother she had known since she was six years old and if someone says she didn't have feelings for her then it was a lie. She always fulfilled her responsibilities as a mother, she remembered there was once in high school she fought with a fellow student and her results were really poor. She was an adolescent in a rebellious stage.
No one understood her apart from Valery who she used to treat rudely thinking she was the reason why her mom died.
"Jean, you will have to wash all the laboratories for a week." The teacher told her sternly.
Jean of course a pampered lady in her teenage years refused and even yelled back at the teacher. Her parents who had been called were also taken back by her outburst. Mr Felix was angered to the point of slapping her but Madam Valery held him back.
" Sir, can I have lone time with my daughter?"
Everyone left and when Valery cast a look at Felix, he stood up left in a huff.
"Jean, come here and give mummy a hug." "You are not my mummy."
Of course she expected Valery to get angry and leave but who knew she would pull her into a hug and comfort her? She cried her heart out that day...
Come to think of that, Jean was a little embarrassed. She had always wondered how Valery managed to tolerate her. Even her at the moment, if put in such a situation she would have diagnosed the teenage her as a mentally handicapped person.
"Idiot! She pinched her cheek roughly till she yelped in pain."
It was since that time that she stopped being rude to Madam Valery and accepted her as a presence she would never erase. But that didn't mean they became too close, no, they just treated each other with respect.
"Young Lady, why pinch your cheek so hard?"
Jean was startled at the sudden voice, didn't she go to sleep? As if answering her silent question. "I came for a glass of milk, your dad is still working."
"Can I ask you a question? It maybe sensitive?"
Valery just frowned a little before nodding, she was surprised Jean had something to ask? "Why are you good to me when you clearly know that my mom used underhanded means to interfere with your love life and marriage?"
She could see Madam Valery's face harden but she still opened her mouth.
"Your mother begged me to treat you and Tina well. She specifically begged me to put up with your nonsense, not even begging she requested. I wished your mom could just beg me for once but she was a stubborn lady with inborn arrogance, she just requested me to guide you well. Make sure you experience motherly love. I once had an illusion that I was the third party but she told me Felix has always loved me and it was she who came between us. She didn't seem like someone who could lack a powerful suitor."
"I'm sorry on her behalf."
But Valery raised her hand, you don't have to be sorry. She will cry wherever she is if she witnesses your actions. Still she wasn't too happy about the topic.
"I will always hate her but not you two girls."
"If she comes back to life, I will fight with her till she gives me an answer."
Valery didn't know that one day her questions will be answered though.
She stepped out of the kitchen and left Jean who finally noticed her hunger. After eating to her fill, she went to her room sluggishly who knew she had a surprise ahead.
"Shit!!Two naughty kids in her bed and to make the matters worse with her pajamas on. It seems you have been babied too much."
Rummaging in her locker, she found a pair of scissors.
"You will wake up with clean heads my dear babies." They don't call her fiery for nothing, cross her and you will be burnt. She cut their burns off and trimmed their hairs evenly.
"Bald pair of monks!"
She finally picked a pajama and headed to the guest room.
Early in the morning, "Aaaahhh!!!" Jean was woken up by shrill screams, when she stepped out of the room. She found everyone including the maids rushing towards her room. "The bald monks are awake?"
She closed the door silently and went back to sleep. When Felix opened the door he was first surprised to see the two kids in this room and they seemed to have slept here.
"Babies, what are you doing in your sister's room?" He asked but Valery saw their heads first, "Why are you screaming in the morning and your heads?"
She was genuinely surprised, these two girls were supposed to go to school what was going on?
It was at this time that Felix saw their heads, "Did you encounter third world war on your heads? Bald... with patches"
Everyone who heard the comment felt their lips twitching before they burst into laughter, even Valery found herself laughing at them. They really looked like abandoned kittens, and their faces looked like a miniature copy of Felix.
"Now can we start calling them Prince Tina and Prince Phina. No difference from boys at all." A lazy voice was heard from behind, Jean went back to sleep but her sleep was already interrupted. There was no need for her to sleep anymore.
The two sisters were aggrieved, they ran to Jean and hugged her before crying their heart out.
"Hic... sis... our is gone, we are no longer pretty."
Jean had never understood why they love her soo much.
Jean had black lines on her forehead, she had forgot these two really knew how to cry like hell.
"OK, stop crying sister doesn't mind if you are ugly but my room is possessed if you sleep there again your hair will be cut again." It was then everyone realized it was Jean who cut their hair.
Valery just shook her head as she pulled out her phone to call for the stylist to come and deal with their heads. "Dad, stop sighing like an old man, don't you think they look like your carbon copy and if you take them out everybody will marvel at your genetic dominance."
This earned Jean a slap on the head before everyone dispersed and resumed their duties. Jean freshened up before heading down for breakfast, who knew these kids driver will have an emergency. "Jean drive your sister's to school before coming back, they have an exam. You will eat later, ok."
But when she entered the car, she was amazed by the hair stylists ability or these two were originally beautiful, why had she never noticed? Two identical faces sat in the back sit waiting for her compliment with sparkling eyes.
"You look nice ok, don't look at me that way."
She grumbled but they were happy from that one compliment, then their chattering began. Jean rubbed her ears slowly, "You may think I'm driving a whole kindergarten class."
She finally heaved a relieved sigh after dropping them off. After driving for while she decided to stop at the Grey Hotel for breakfast, she didn't have time to reserve a private room so she sat at the open near a window.
Anyone who entered the hotel would naturally glance at the eye catching lady near the window before looking away. Jaden Grey who normally had his breakfast here before going to work was no exception, he glanced at the eye catching thing but he didn't stop.
"Young lady of the Felix family." He nodded when he heard Carlos voice.
