Chapter 15 - Taken over

Now Aleyah's body no longer belongs to her. The soul of that male boy penetrates her body like water poured into a bucket. Merge into one until this body moves according to the wishes of the soul owner.

Aleyah opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was an ant walking on the carpet. She sighed and realized that she literally spent the whole night on the cold floor. She got up and looked at her bedroom window. It turned out that it was raining outside; perhaps, she couldn't see clearly whether it was raindrops or sunlight. The woman blinked her eyelids, her vision was very blurry as if the room was filled with thick fog.

The teenage male ghost remembered that this woman always wore glasses. She felt around the floor, her fingertips touched an object and she immediately grabbed her glasses. Aleyah put it on and her vision became crystal clear. The woman looked back out the window, the sunlight was shining brightly but rain was falling from the sky.

There was a name for this phenomenon but she couldn't remember it. Aleyah looked at her fingers and moved her fingers carefully. The ghost was surprised at how easily he moved this human body and how smoothly he walked on his two legs. Aleyah started jumping on her bed then she started laughing alone.

"What are you doing this early in the morning? Are you just jumping on your bed?" asked an old man in the doorway of her room. Aleyah stopped and put her palms together.

Smith squeezed his flat cap. He looked sorry at Aleyah's apologetic reaction but he continued to squeeze his hat without saying anything.

"Please help Lucy downstairs," he said, then left the doorway of Aleyah's room.

Aleyah breathed a sigh of relief and rolled up the sleeves of her long shirt. Aleyah came down from the stairs while twisting her joints. "This is amazing, I can completely control this body." she muttered a little then she stood still when she reached the ground floor of the stairs.

Aleyah covered her mouth with both palms. Her slightly reddish eyes darted here and there, looking for someone that possibly had heard her. Did anyone hear what she just said? Yes, a young girl who looked at her with her lips twitching sideways.

"You've been up for so long, don't you want to open the shop? I'm already very busy in the morning because of you." complained the young girl then slammed the broom into the corner of the room.

Aleyah folded her arms in front of her chest. She approached Lucy with the same pose. "All this time, it's your sister who has always taken care of the house and this bakery. Now you are so fussy just sweeping the floor." she said in an arrogant tone.

Lucy stared at the person taller than her with bulging eyes. Aleyah didn't want to lose, she put her hands on her hips and returned her sister's sharp gaze. Smith appears and breaks up their argument. Lucy was defended by her father so that she was relieved of her duty of baking bread. Then what Aleyah got was to pick up the ingredients they ordered at the shop next door.

The ghost did not know the name of the person Smith mentioned. Aleyah frowned in surprise outside the bakery. Smith was still beside her, that old man wondered why his daughter hadn't gone to get milk from their neighbor.

Instead, Aleyah stretched out her palm to reach the rain. Smith handed her his umbrella, "Use this, don't get caught in the rain and go home immediately when you're finished." he said then Smith ran through the rain with his jacket.

Aleyah nodded in understanding then walked in the direction Smith had pointed earlier. Several small children ran past her and one of them nudged her body until the small umbrella that she held flew out of her hand. Instead of picking it up, she let the rain wet her body.

Aleyah looked up at the clear sky and squinted her eyes so that the rain wouldn't hurt her eyes. She still couldn't remember what this strange phenomenon was called. Aleyah who was still imbued with a teenage boy soul, walked with regular steps in the rain with enthusiasm and left the umbrella behind. She started running, faster and faster and then took off her sandals when they got in the way.

Aleyah stopped at the end of the sidewalk. Her blue shirt was soaked. Likewise with her short shoulder length hair and long trousers. However, she didn't panic even though she was the only one who was wet among the people who were taking shelter under umbrellas. She looked at her feet and hands repeatedly, "It feels like this body was mine from the start." she said enthusiastically.

"It feels comfortable. What is this? I've never possessed anyone before, but can all humans be taken over this easily?" Aleyah covered her mouth again and repeated her reaction of surprise at her ability to speak.

"Hey! What are you doing in there?!"

Aleyah turned to the source of the sound. A fat man with a bushy beard shouted at her. The man's question made Aleyah look at herself, she was just playing in the rain. Her thoughts were quickly diverted to something else until the man's screams no longer disturbed her thoughts. She held out both hands, facing the sky. Wailing raindrops burst onto her palms.

"Strange. I can't feel anything." muttered Aleyah, she didn't feel the drop of water on her palm or any cold all over her body. The ghost was still curious about this new thing so she hit herself. "It didn't hurt. But how come?" she muttered again, still in the same surprise.

"Hey!" shouted the fat man again.

"Mind your own business!" Aleyah shouted back annoyed.

The fat man walked through the rain to grab her hand and then he dragged her on the terrace of his house. That fat man looked angry and worried at the same time. So Aleyah can't decide whether she had to run away or stayed there to find out if she knew this man.

"I heard the news about your mother. I'm so sorry for your loss but don't use it as an excuse to make yourself sick."

"Lost? I didn't-," Aleyah stopped speaking immediately, "I lost something?" she murmured, then the ghost had a flashback when the first time he saw this woman. It was at a cemetery, so it must be it.

"Aleyah? Can you hear me?" asked the fat man again softly.

Aleyah immediately dispelled the fat man's worries in a high-pitched voice. "Oh yes, that's right! My mother! Yep, that's exactly what is on my mind. My mother has passed away. And you're right, I'm quite shaken right now. That's why I was acting strangely-"

The fat man removed his hand from Aleyah's shoulder. Slowly he stood up straight, looking satisfied with Aleyah's chatter but unable to resolve his worries.

"I'm okay," Aleyah said again with a smile, which she hoped would relieve that fat man or whatever his name was.

"I'm glad to hear that you're okay. You must have come here to pick up your groceries, wait here a moment. I will bring you milk and an umbrella."

Aleyah was only silent in response and the fat man left her. He entered his house and from the door of this house appeared a little girl.

"Hello little girl," greeted Aleyah but the girl shouted and went back into her house. She bumped into a man at the door and immediately hid behind him.

"Jeez, what's wrong? Why are you screaming?" asked the fat man. He brought out 3 liter cartons of milk and a polka dot umbrella. The little girl who was hiding behind the fat man's legs pointed at Aleyah.

"She's strange... Why is that man in Aunt Aleyah's body?" she asked in fear.

The fat man lowered the child's arm. He tried to get the little girl to apologize to Aleyah but that sweet child didn't want to do it. "He shouldn't be there, that boy must leave her. Aunt Aleyah will be missing, uncle." said the little girl while tugging at the fat man's trousers.

"Hush, what did your mother say about telling nonsense and lies? Quickly apologize to her."

"I don't want to. I'm afraid of her, her eyes are turning red and I don't like it," the little girl cooed, shaking her head.

The fat man gave up and stopped forcing that child to apologize. "Sorry, Aleyah, she often says strange things. She didn't mean it, you look beautiful as usual." he said.

Aleyah frowned and it made the fat man close his mouth in embarrassment. The male ghost doesn't like hearing compliments, especially those said by a man.

"I know that I look handso- I mean beautiful." Aleyah turned to look at the little child who was hugging the teddy bear, "See you later, little princess, I hope we meet again soon." she said, smiling broadly at the little girl who managed to blow his cover.

Aleyah immediately took 3 boxes of milk and walked back home. The fat man blocked her steps by holding out an umbrella. "Wear this, you'll get sick if you get caught in the rain." he said again.

"No need to, I can take care of myself. Just calm that kid down," said Aleyah without the slightest hint of friendliness towards the kind man.

Instead of listening to Aleyah's words, the man smiled without being disturbed by the sound of his sister's crying. He stared at Aleyah's back for a long time without any desire to move or open his umbrella. Aleyah turned around again facing that fat man. It made him couldn't hide his joy.

"Thank you for your help, you are very kind but I don't like people who are too kind. You know what I mean, right?" Aleyah said again before really leaving.

When she got home, Aleyah was immediately scolded by Lucy. She was told to take a shower immediately and she didn't, because he would see a woman's body if he took a shower. So what she did was change clothes with her eyes closed.

The ghost realized something while wandering around using this woman's body. He felt that Aleyah's chest was very heavy, so he took the initiative to peek at what was making this woman's chest heavy. It turned out that there were two melons in her chest, no wonder why it hurt so much when running.

Lucy glanced strangely at her sister and then turned on the television. There's no harm in relaxing when there are few customers. Now Aleyah's focus is on the terrible incident reported on television. It's true, he doesn't have time to remember the thrill of life when he has important things to do.

Aleyah found a black shadow wandering outside the shop. The ghost inside her started to think about a plan to arrest the killer and he needed to discuss it with his friends. He already had a few plans and the ghost that was languishing inside Aleyah's body was about to come out. But all he did was take the woman's body out of the shop and run after something that was visible to the edge of the highway.

Lucy hugged Aleyah's stomach as hard as she could and pulled her sister from the highway with all her strength until they both lay on the ground. Lucy groaned in pain but Aleyah screamed hysterically and got up to close her eyes repeatedly.

"What's this? I can't go out." Aleyah muttered and panicked.

"What are you saying?" Lucy asked puzzled while stroking her waist.

Aleyah closed her eyes and tightened her grip. The teenage boy's ghost tried to get out of Aleyah's body but he couldn't.

"I'm trapped!"
