Chapter 36 - Annoyance

Charlotte got there a bit later than the redhead, but he could hear yelling and cursing from the entrance. No doubt the other students could listen to it too, not that they made it known. The redhead and the golden-haired man stood near the teacher with the door wide open. He looked inside, and it was once more filled with dust, almost like his work yesterday hadn't happened.

"You honestly can't expect us to clean that up. Do we look like maids to you?"

"Come on, at least let the... riff-raff handle it."

The golden-haired man said as he put his hand on the shoulder of the girl. He subtly turned to look at Charlotte. He hadn't been subtle in who he was referring to, but Charlotte didn't react. All the while, the teacher just smiled and listened to them speak.

Charlotte was about to head to the classroom to ask Fang for a bucket, but almost as if that thought very thought summoned him, Fang tapped him on the back. Charlotte turned around, and Fang held out a bucket with clear water and a clean rag. He smiled and set it down for him.

"Thanks, Fang; see you after the class, I guess?"

He nods excitedly and looks over him. He reached down to his cut sleeves and looked at Charlotte with worry clearly in his expression.

"I'm fine, don't worry; I told you I am very durable, didn't I?"

Charlotte smiled and tapped his chest, and Fang nodded as he looked at the two other students. They had stopped arguing with the teacher and were now looking at him. Fang waved slightly and turned red as he ran to class; the two looked at Charlotte. The redhead raised an eyebrow while the other rolled his eyes and turned to the teacher.

"Besides, we have nothing to clean with. Only he does. How about we make him clean?"

"I don't entirely agree with him, but he is right...Besides, they look capable enough."

The two seemed to have agreed to push him to do the work. He sighed and set the bucket down as he washed the rag before cleaning. He was about to start before the teacher woke up.

"Before you do that, I need help from the three of you. I'm trying to find a word for something below garbage...any ideas?"

She seemed stumped as she rubbed her chin and looked at the two before looking at Charlotte. She seemed to be waiting for them to respond. Charlotte was hesitating mainly cause he sensed this was a trap and didn't want to be caught in it. The other two seemed to be seriously contemplating what to say.

Charlotte just tried to ignore it and got to cleaning. He wasn't going to waste time falling for her trap. His mind wandered, primarily to his fight with Fang and how to counter or try and get ahead of him. He didn't see it, but the teacher scowled a bit as he began cleaning.

"Well? I am waiting, or are your heads as empty as your threats?"

The redhead flinched and glared, While the other just scoffed and laughed it off.

"How about nothing? That's the only thing below garbage, I believe?"

She contemplated it and nodded. She seemed to agree and smiled as she held onto them.

"That's perfect, with that out of the way...You two nobodies can work on cleaning the room; I don't think I need to remind you two that you took an extra day to wake up. So that piece of garbage, as far as I am concerned, stands above the two of you."

She looked at Charlotte and picked the two of them up effortlessly before tossing them into the room. They got covered in dust and brought Charlotte back to reality as they got picked up by her.

"Don't take too long; I'm going on a walk with this piece of garbage. I expect the room cleaned by then."

She took the now dirty rag from his hands and tossed it before the two. The redhead mumbled something under her breath and got up, but she stayed quiet. The golden-haired guy didn't seem to take kindly to his words as lightning ran down his hands.

"Do it; see how that ends."

She turned and walked away, taking Charlotte along; they raised their hand and aimed it at the teacher. He grits his teeth and stops himself as he turns away; the redhead has picked up the rag, and the two seem to have started arguing about who got the rag. He was taken outside the school and placed on the ground, and she kept walking without saying anything.

He got up and looked back at the school, running to catch up to her and walking beside her. The two walked silently for a bit; she seemed smiling as she hummed a tune. While he didn't know what to say precisely, he followed and tried to hum along.

"Aren't you going to ask about what that was about?"

She said it with curiosity, clearly in her voice, as she looked down at him. He shrugged and contemplated for a bit before speaking.

"Not really. Yesterday, you complained that I didn't react to your insults...They seemed to be the perfect target for you, though."

She grinned and patted his head, which made him unconsciously place his hands on his head to cover his hair.

"You're half right; I love messing with them, especially since they aren't as accepting as you. The other truth is that I'm trying to make them hate you by playing favorites."

"Why?!"

He didn't need more enemies, especially since he had already decided on his target for the coming month.

"They weren't going to be friends with you regardless, and anything I can teach they already know. However, you would benefit greatly from my help. So being the teacher's favorite seems like the perfect role for you~."

She pinched his cheeks, which made him slap her hand away, and she pretended to be hurt as she looked away.

"Guess you would rather not learn a thing...I could always use the redhead as my pupil."

He opened his mouth before closing it and rubbing his face. He had gotten the worst teacher. Maybe he should have tried another school.

"I'm sorry...please forgive me."

He tried bowing his head as he apologized; he didn't get any answer but heard her snicker and laugh.

"Alright, alright. I forgive you, my favorite piece of garbage. Together, we will surely make you into a real boy!"

He regretted apologizing almost immediately, but it was too late to take back his words now.
