Allie pushed the door open upon realizing that it wasn't locked. She walked into the spacious presidential suite with precise steps. The lights were on, and something was playing on the TV.
She looked around when she reached the center of the living room but found no one. She went to the two rooms and also checked the balcony but saw not even a shadow of the person she expected to see.
She went back to the living room and checked the cake on the table. There was a small note beside it. It said:
'Happy birthday, my dove.'
Allie's face was blank. She put it down and stared at the TV screen. Some of her childhood videos were compiled and being played, videos where she wasn't even showing a single smile.
Meanwhile, in another room of the hotel, a man sat in front of his laptop, watching Allie's every move inside Room 201. He was smiling.
