"It has been," she says, her lips started quivering. The emotions she was trying so hard to lock in wanted to break free.
"You are sad," the other person said so confidently that she became scared, scared of how transparent she was to her.
It's like she could read her like the back of her hand. She was the same person she didn't like at the start yet she's the one who knows her the best now.
"You are imagining things now? I told you to consult a doctor. Despite being young, you are starting to get symptoms of an old lady. I am not sad, Serenity," she says, trying to sound cheerful but she cringed at how fake her voice was sounding.
Serenity was the same girl who gave her the dare, the dare that took her to him, Arrow.
Just like his name, the cupid targeted his name's arrow to her heart.
At the start, she couldn't feel any pain. It was normal, she was rather feeling giddy but as time passed by, the poison in it started hurting her.
An injury leaving a scar behind that would never leave.
But she doesn't regret anything. If that day didn't happen then she would never get Serenity.
The sister that she failed to find in her own, the girl who understands her like a sister, the girl who takes care of her like a mother, the girl who protects her like a father, and the girl who loves her like a lover.
And most importantly, the girl who swore to be by her side, no matter what the situation is, like a true friend.
She doesn't know whether she has a future with Arrow or not but she's sure that her future children are going to know Serenity as their Godmother, as their aunt, as their mother's best friend, their well-wisher.
"Do you know how stupid you are for trying to fool me? Me? Serenity the live lie detector? Where are you? I am coming to pick you up. No matter what it is, we will solve it together. You shouldn't keep things to yourself. As your best friend, I have every right to share your sadness with you, just give me the address," Serenity said and a grateful smile took over Heaven's lips.
That's what she needed at that moment, a shoulder she could cry on.
She knew that she promised her mother that she wouldn't cry and she definitely wouldn't cry but telling what's inside her heart was the same as crying to her.
After crying, we feel lighter and after getting out what's inside of our heart, we also feel lighter. But to let everyone out, we need a person who would never judge us.
Someone who would also try to understand our point of view rather than being biased. Someone who would point out our mistakes softly so that we actually want to correct them and do the right thing later.
Serenity was just that person. She would gently handle her.
But as a person, Serenity wasn't as gentle. She's rather tough and harsh with others.
Heaven was her only exception.
Heaven quickly gives Serenity the address and waits outside of the bar. Serenity on the other hand curses after seeing the address.
"I knew that bastard is connected to everything. God forbid I might murder him. Our creator gave us all eyes but this guy is as useless as one can get. He can't even point out the right twin. All brothers and their friends are equally useless," she mutters under her breath, and just then her phone rings.
She curses even louder after seeing the caller ID.
"Name the devil and he shall appear," she says with an annoyed eye roll.
She cuts the call but the phone won't stop ringing.
After 4 missed calls, she finally picks up the call, almost near to her destination.
"WHERE THE FUCK WERE YOU? WHY DID IT TAKE YOU SO LONG?" The other person shouted.
"Don't shout at me. I am not your fucking servant and even if I was then you have no right to scream at me. If you want to ask something then ask it politely and nicely. I am not going to tolerate your psycho-type behavior. I demand respect and politeness. Try again," she said in a soft voice but her words were firm enough.
"I am sorry. I just got worried. Where were you?" The other side calms down and asks in a much calmer voice, probably sensing that Serenity's ok through her voice.
"I was driving through the highway and picking up the call wasn't safe for me. That's why I didn't pick it. I am extremely sorry for worrying you. I will try to pick it up on time. Also, babe, please stop worrying so much. You are getting old. Talking in such a high tone isn't healthy for you," she says with genuine concern.
She believes in what goes around, comes around. If someone wants her to be calm then they must stay calm as well.
And ever since she was a kid, she always hated being controlled. As a result, if someone demands something from her even in a loud tone, her temperature flames up.
"It's ok. Don't pick up calls while you are driving. Also, bro, you are making it seem like I am in my nineties," he says with a chuckle.
"You are not? Damn, I thought you turned 91 last year. No matter what age, you need to take care of yourself. I can't let my sugar daddy get sick," she dramatically says.
"Your sugar daddy is as fit as one can get and wait, are you calling me an oldie?"
"Obviously, I am, silly. You are really old. Vintage."
"We will see who's old tonight."
"About that, I am not coming tonight. I need to stay with my sister. She needs me."
"You need to stop calling Heaven your sister. I get confused sometimes even though you don't have any biological sister."
"Won't because she's more than a biological sister to me. Also, warn your friend. I might end up murdering his younger brother for making my sister sad. Anyway, I am there. See you later. Bye."
"Bye, I love you."
"I love you more."
