The door slammed shut. Magnus caught sight of the vase sitting on the table beside the entrance and hurled it to the floor.
"No! She can't be!" he screamed, his voice echoing through the room. Cecily, sensing the panic, quietly slipped out her heart racing.
As soon as Magnus spotted her, he rushed over. Cecily's breath quickened, and fear reflected in her blue eyes.
"I think Eisley is pregnant," he said, fury burning through his words.
Cecily gasped, stepping back, but with each retreat, Magnus closed the distance.
"You told me to be patient! You promised I would get her back! Now she's pregnant!" he roared, gripping her arms tightly.
"Is it confirmed? You said 'think'! She can't be!" Cecily shot back, her voice rising as she squeezed her eyes shut.
"You bastard! How could you deceive me? I listened to you—I believed you!"
