Oscar ventured deeper into the emerald forest, once again finding himself far from the familiar boundaries of Beacon. This time, however, he was not alone. In his hand. He twisted it with a slight sense of trepidation, and before his eyes, a shimmering gate appeared before him.
Without hesitation, Oscar stepped forward, entering the gate. To his surprise, the dungeon was not the sterile, stone walls he'd imagined. Instead, it looked eerily like the forest around him, with twisted trees and overgrown roots reaching for the sky, a graveyard of nature's forgotten memories.
"Guess I'm in for another adventure," he muttered, surveying the area. His eyes quickly caught movement in the shadows—a skeletal figure, hunched over and dragging its bony limbs across the dirt. It was a Skeleton Grimm.
"Well, let's see what this new ability can do," Oscar mused, readying his sword. His hands gripped the hilt as he activated his latest skill, Turn On Dead. To his surprise, as the words left his lips, a brilliant burst of holy light exploded from his sword. The skeleton didn't just fall apart; it was erased completely, its bones turning to dust.
Oscar blinked in confusion. "Did… did I just—"
Ding!
[Skill real name revealed
Turn On Dead → Turn Undead]
"Wait… what?" Oscar stared at the notification before breaking into a grin. "Well, guess that works," he chuckled to himself, already eager to test out the new skill again.
He moved deeper into the dungeon, attacking each Skeleton Grimm he encountered. Every swing of his sword released that same radiant burst, disintegrating each one effortlessly. He couldn't help but laugh as he spammed Turn Undead, clearing room after room of the skeletal invaders. The dungeon practically cleared itself, the powerful light from his attacks slicing through everything in his path.
Finally, he reached the boss room. Inside, a towering figure awaited him—the Skeleton King. Its dark, hollow eyes glowed with an eerie light, and its skeletal frame loomed over the room, holding a jagged, bone-studded sword.
Oscar cracked his neck and stepped forward. "Time to put you down," he said, raising his sword again.
Without a moment's hesitation, he activated Turn Undead.
A massive pulse of holy energy erupted from his blade, and the Skeleton King's form disintegrated almost instantly. In less than a second, the boss had been reduced to nothing more than a pile of dust.
Ding!
[Prey Slaughtered]
Ding!
[Skill leveled up - Turn Undead level - 12]
Oscar couldn't stop the smile from spreading across his face. "That was easier than I thought," he said as he glanced around the now-empty room. "I guess that's why it's a boss fight."
The final notification rang in his mind:
Ding!
[Dungeon has been cleared, gate has been opened]
Oscar raised an eyebrow. "That was fast," he muttered, clearly impressed by the speed with which he'd completed the dungeon.
Ding!
[Host has leveled up Level 36 → 40]
Oscar let out a laugh as he ran a hand through his hair. "Guess I'll take the easy wins when I can get them."
He paused, glancing around the dungeon that was now completely cleared of enemies. It was silent, and he knew that whatever lay ahead of him would no longer be the same easy task. But for now, he allowed himself a moment to enjoy the victory.
With another satisfied grin, Oscar stepped through the gate, ready to face whatever new challenges awaited him.
Oscar then stopped and looked at the Bone sword, he grabbed as it then transformed into two metal gauntlet, with Skeleton Degine the sword was no longer there now was two Gauntlet.
Oscar stared at the two gauntlets in his hands, feeling the strange power emanating from them. The bone designs, etched with runes and dark markings, gave off an eerie vibe, but the transformation was undeniably fascinating. It wasn't just any ordinary weapon—it had adapted to something else entirely.
He carefully inspected the gauntlets, then glanced at his system, speaking aloud. "System, I'm giving these to Yang. What exactly can they do? I know they can fuse with her weapon, but tell me more."
Ding!
[Bone Gauntlets Analysis]
[Gauntlets Description: A powerful relic forged from the bones of an ancient Skeleton King, these gauntlets have the ability to fuse with compatible weapons, enhancing their overall power. Upon fusion with Yang's weapon, the gauntlets will increase her striking power and grant her flame-based shockwaves with every punch.]
[Abilities:
Flame Shockwave: Releases a concentrated wave of fire upon impact, causing explosive damage in a wide radius.
Bone Strike: A reinforced punch that can temporarily stun enemies or cause them to lose balance.
Fused Strength: Enhances the user's physical strength, allowing them to hit harder and faster.
Rebirth Aura: The gauntlets can heal minor wounds over time if the user focuses their energy, drawing on the connection between life and death.]
[Compatibility: High. The gauntlets can fuse with Yang's weapon, amplifying both her combat abilities and her semblance.]
Oscar nodded, impressed by the potential of the gauntlets. "Seems like this is a good upgrade for Yang. These could really enhance her power."
He held the gauntlets carefully, feeling the weight of their history in his hands. They would certainly add something to Yang's already formidable strength. But he couldn't help but wonder—what else could these gauntlets do, and how would Yang handle them once they were fused with her weapon?
"Guess we'll find out soon enough," Oscar muttered, turning towards the exit. He knew Yang would appreciate this new addition to her arsenal.
With a final glance at the gauntlets, he placed them in his bag, ready to give them to Yang. Whatever came next, it seemed like they were only getting stronger.
The next day arrives, as Blake was looking at the [Ice dagger] that Oscar gave her and Yang was looking at the [Bone Gauntlet]
Blake looked at Oscar she spoke. "You made this".
Oscar actived [Loki's Lie], as he spoke what he practiced. "Yeah I did, I thought I can help my team and everything". He actually when he said he looked at them. "So the Ice Dagger is 80% made out of Ice dust and will the remaining 10% is made out of Steal, it can break easily but so easily, if breaks give back to me".
Yang then looked at with a Grinn. "You know this explains why you just desiper".
Oscar chuckled, as he was happy they still didn't find out he was white mask or about the Dungeon. "Yup definitely".
Blake studied the dagger in her hand carefully, inspecting its craftsmanship and the way the light reflected off the ice. She could feel the cool aura radiating from it, though the steel gave it enough durability to not worry about it shattering immediately. Her eyes flicked up to Oscar, scrutinizing him, trying to gauge if there was more to the story than he was letting on.
"You really know how to make useful tools, Oscar," Blake commented, her voice a mixture of appreciation and suspicion. "But you're still being a little vague on the details. How did you even learn to make something like this?"
Oscar's heart raced for a moment, but he kept his cool as he activated his [Loki's Lie] again, perfecting his calm, nonchalant tone. "Oh, just a bit of trial and error, I guess. I've been doing some research here and there. You know, nothing too crazy."
Yang gave him a playful grin, clearly still intrigued by the gauntlets she held. She raised them slightly and flexed her fingers, getting a feel for them. "Research, huh? Guess it explains why you disappeared last night, huh?" She raised an eyebrow, teasing him. "You went off to make all this stuff for us."
Oscar chuckled, trying to keep his voice steady. "Yeah, I guess I've just been keeping myself busy."
Blake wasn't entirely convinced, but she let the matter drop—for now. The dagger in her hand felt lighter than it looked, but the chill it gave off was almost comforting. She felt a sense of gratitude toward Oscar, even if she suspected he wasn't being completely upfront. But she wasn't about to press him too much just yet. There were more pressing matters at hand—like understanding how to use the new weapon properly.
"Thanks for the gift, Oscar," she said, offering a small smile. "I'll make sure to use it well."
Yang nodded enthusiastically, her usual brash self evident. "And I'm gonna enjoy these gauntlets. I can feel the power already." She gave Oscar another grin. "You're not bad, kid."
Oscar laughed lightly, relieved that they were both accepting of the gifts—despite the fact that he was still hiding so much from them. "Just... don't go punching anything too dangerous with those gauntlets, alright?"
Yang's grin widened. "No promises, but I'll try to keep it under control. I'm sure these will make everything more interesting." She slapped the gauntlets together with a satisfying clang.
Oscar couldn't help but feel a sense of pride, though it was mixed with a little bit of anxiety. The team hadn't figured out everything just yet, and that was good—but how much longer could he keep up this charade?
"Anyway," Blake spoke up again, breaking his train of thought. "How exactly do these abilities work? You mentioned something about synergy and some kind of energy before. Should we be practicing with them, or is there more to the weapons?"
Oscar took a moment to think before answering. "For now, just get used to the feel of them. They'll sync up with your natural aura and Semblances, but it takes time for weapons like these to fully adapt. Just try not to break them too quickly, okay?"
He gave them both a knowing look, trying to hide the anxiety that bubbled up when they asked too many questions. He didn't want to give too much away.
"Well, if anything goes wrong," Oscar continued, his voice more confident, "I'm always here to fix it."
Yang laughed, clearly enjoying Oscar's antics. "Good to know, 'cause when I start smashing things, you might need to patch 'em up."
Blake gave a small, dry chuckle as she adjusted her dagger. "We'll keep you busy then, Oscar."
Oscar smiled, but inside, he couldn't help but feel a little nervous. The deeper he went into this deception, the more complex it became. How long could he keep up the act? How long before his secrets would be exposed?
Ruby then looked at Oscar as she spoke. "Hey where is my cool new weapons or Weiss".
Weiss just hupped as she spoke. "I don't need da new weapon".
As then she grabbed a box that Oscar through at her, as she opened and saw Dust that she had never seen".
Oscar looked at her and spoke. "Specialised Dust, made by me".
The truth was she bought them for the systems, will a few hundred that is, he just gave a small box to Weiss but [Loki's Lie] helped to keep the lie intact
Weiss stared at the box in her hands, her eyes narrowing in curiosity as she examined the contents. The dust crystals inside were unlike anything she had ever seen before—glowing with an otherworldly hue, and radiating a sense of power that felt foreign to her.
She looked back up at Oscar, raising an eyebrow. "Specialized Dust?" she repeated, her tone skeptical yet intrigued. "You made this?"
Oscar, feeling the pressure of maintaining the lie, nodded confidently, activating [Loki's Lie] once again to reinforce his words. "Yeah, it's a special formula I've been working on. I thought it would help enhance your current abilities. But it's still a bit experimental, so use it carefully."
Ruby, always the eager one, bounced on her heels. "So, where's mine? I want a cool new weapon, too!"
Oscar chuckled softly, trying to redirect the conversation to avoid any further scrutiny from Weiss. "Don't worry, Ruby. You'll get your turn. But first, I need to make sure everything is perfect." He flashed a grin, hoping to alleviate any tension in the room. "You're both gonna love it."
Weiss wasn't fully convinced, but she trusted Oscar—at least enough to believe he was doing his best to help them. Still, the strange Dust was a bit of a mystery. She tapped the box gently, the dust inside shifting with a faint hum. "I'll take your word for it, for now. But don't think I won't be asking more questions about this later, Oscar."
Oscar nodded, his nerves on edge as he fought to maintain his calm. "Of course, Weiss. Just experiment with it slowly, alright? It's a little... volatile."
Blake, who had been silently observing, raised an eyebrow but said nothing. She could sense something was off with Oscar, but for now, she chose to keep her thoughts to herself. Yang, however, smirked, clearly entertained by the scene.
"Alright, so when do we get to see these new toys in action?" Yang asked, leaning against the wall with a playful grin. "I'm getting antsy just standing here."
Oscar exhaled softly, glad to have moved past the immediate tension. "Soon. But remember, these things need time to fully activate. Don't go rushing into things."
Ruby bounced once more, her enthusiasm contagious. "Fine! But we're doing a training session later, right?"
Oscar smiled, nodding. "Of course. We'll test everything out and see how it works."
Weiss, still holding the box, gave Oscar one last skeptical look before tucking it away. "I expect results, Oscar. Don't disappoint me."
As Weiss walked away, Blake and Yang followed suit, each pondering their new weapons and abilities. Oscar watched them go, a sense of relief washing over him for the moment. But deep down, the lie he had told still gnawed at him. How long could he keep this up? And what would happen when they inevitably discovered the truth?
