Chapter 10 - 10 disaster of being murdered(Two)

Fang Mu lightly tapped the pocket at his waist, and a flying sword flew out, carrying him into the air.

He wanted to use the height to locate He Cong, but it was late at night, and the trees obstructed his view, making it difficult to spot He Cong. It was like finding a needle in a haystack.

After some time, Fang Mu saw some slight movements in the distance. He immediately flew over on his sword, only to find a monkey climbing a tree to pick fruit.

Meanwhile, He Cong was hiding in the bushes, taking advantage of the darkness.

Not far above him, a figure was riding a flying sword in the air.

He held his breath, not daring to make any movements, and pondered how to escape.

He asked himself, if he were in Fang Mu's shoes, where would he look for He Cong?

Firstly, the dense forest in the mountains was undoubtedly one place, and secondly, it was inside the He family's village.

If he stayed here, hidden by the trees and the darkness, he wouldn't be found by Fang Mu for a while.

But over time, as the sky brightened, it would be difficult to hide.

As for the He family's village, with its open view, there was nowhere to hide and escape the pursuit.

After much thought, He Cong considered numerous escape routes, but eventually, he rejected them all.

It wasn't until the sky began to lighten that He Cong realized he had been overlooking one place.

Looking up at the sky, he saw the figure had descended. Throughout the night, Fang Mu would descend from the sky every so often. Presumably, Fang Mu's spiritual power was limited, and he couldn't control the flying sword for long periods.

Without hesitation, He Cong took the opportunity to circle back and, after wandering for several miles, unexpectedly returned to the mortuary.

The mortuary was undoubtedly the most dangerous place. Even He Cong felt that returning here was akin to seeking death.

But upon further thought, the most dangerous place, where others subconsciously felt they couldn't go,became the safest place.

However, just as he stepped into the mortuary, He Cong's face changed abruptly.

Standing in the mortuary was a man in a yellow robe, looking at He Cong with a smile that didn't seem like a smile, as if he had been waiting there for a long time.

This person was the fortune-teller!

He Cong subconsciously took a half step back, tensing up, ready to escape at any moment. But he heard the fortune-teller say slowly, "Friend, there's no need to be anxious. I mean you no harm."

Coldly, He Cong replied, "Yesterday you predicted that I would encounter a bloody disaster, and last night someone tried to take my life. How can I trust you?"

"If I wanted to harm you, why would I wait until now?" The fortune-teller stood up suddenly, raised a palm, and a flame appeared in his palm. As the flame rose, the surrounding air twisted from the heat.

He Cong realized something was wrong and instinctively tried to turn and leave. However, he found that a yellow talisman had been secretly stuck to him at some point. In the next moment, his whole body stiffened, unable to exert any strength.

Just as He Cong felt despair, the fortune-teller withdrew his magical power and said slowly, "I've come to help you escape your predicament."

He Cong breathed a sigh of relief and pointed to the yellow paper on his body, saying, "Since Daoist means no harm, could you please remove this yellow talisman for me?"

The fortune-teller laughed and said, "Don't worry This is a immobilization talisman, which only works for ten breaths."

Sure enough, after ten breaths, He Cong felt his body lighten, and all restrictions on his body were lifted. He couldn't help but marvel. He intended to pick up the talisman and study it, but he heard the fortune-teller say, "The spiritual power on this talisman has dissipated. Friend, there's no need to study it."

He Cong put away the talisman and said, "I used to not believe in such divination and feng shui practices, but today, seeing Daoist's skills, I have to believe. I'm curious, were you waiting for me here today because you predicted it?"

The fortune-teller smiled and shook his head. "On the day we first met, I placed a tracking talisman on you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to find you."

With a wave of his hand, a talisman floated out of He Cong's body and was collected by the fortune-teller.

"You said you came here to help me escape. I want to know how you can help me," He Cong said.

The fortune-teller smiled and asked, "Do you know why Fang Mu want to take your life?"

Recalling his conversation with Fang Mu earlier, He Cong replied, "Did I kill someone?"

The fortune-teller nodded. "Yes, in the cultivation world, many disciples are recruited from the mortal world. Because of this, the orthodox sects have a rule that cultivators cannot kill mortals."

He Cong nodded, indicating for the fortune-teller to continue.

The fortune-teller continued, "When the sects find that a cultivator has violated their rules, they will issue tasks to their disciples to kill the violator and reward them for doing so."

"From what you're saying, there should be more than just Fang Mu who wants to kill me, right?" He Cong smiled bitterly.

The fortune-teller nodded. "Indeed, so if you want to survive, you must listen to me or have a glimmer of hope."

"What is your solution?" He Cong asked.

The fortune-teller said, "If you want to survive, the only way is to join the Demon Sect!"

"The Demon Sect? Didn't you say that people from the cultivation world all want to kill me? Why join a sect?" He Cong was puzzled.

The fortune-teller explained, "The Demon Sect is different. There are not so many rules and restrictions. As long as you join them and become a disciple of the Demon Sect, the sect will support you!"

"What should I do?" He Cong asked.

The fortune-teller said, "To become a disciple of the Demon Sect, you must go to Tianyuan City. There, you will find a branch of the Demon Sect. Besides, you will need a letter of recommendation."

"What is a letter of recommendation?" He Cong asked.

The fortune-teller explained, "The so-called letter of recommendation is the heads of mortals and the heads of orthodox cultivators. Since you have killed mortals, you don't need the former. Next, you only need to kill an orthodox cultivator, take his head, and go to Tianyuan City to join the Demon Sect."

"Kill a cultivator? Daoist, are you joking? If I can kill him, do I still need to seek shelter in the Demon Sect?" He Cong smiled bitterly.

The fortune-teller took out three yellow paper talismans and said, "I'll give you three talismans to help you kill your enemies. These three talismans are the immobilization talisman, the lightness talisman, and the message talisman. You've already seen the immobilization talisman. As for the lightness talisman, it can greatly increase your speed for escape. Lastly, the message talisman can be used to contact me after you arrive at Tianyuan City."

After receiving the three talismans, He Cong could sense a faint spiritual power fluctuation within them.

Carefully storing the talismans, He Cong asked, "Where is Tianyuan City?"

The fortune-teller replied, "It's about a hundred miles east from here, as the center. Oh, and these three talismans can only be used once each. In other words, you only have one chance. Don't blame me for not reminding you. There is more than one cultivator who wants your life!"

With that, the fortune-teller patted He Cong on the shoulder and drifted away.

"I'll be waiting for you in Tianyuan City!"
