Kai lay in bed, disoriented. "Wow, what just happened? I fell asleep in my clothes." He hadn't changed or washed up, yet the clock read 4:00 AM. Usually, he woke up at 5:00 AM, so he decided to rest until then.
As he lay there, memories of the previous day flooded his mind. "Rough day," he thought. "Maybe if I don't overdo it, I won't pass out again."
Time ticked by, and Kai's alarm rang at 5:00 AM. He stood up, getting ready for the day.
"Kai, are you awake?" his mom called out.
"Yes, mom, I am," Kai replied.
"Get ready, the bus will be here soon. Your food is on the table," she reminded him.
"Mom, I'm big enough to make my own food," Kai said.
"Doesn't matter, just come and get it," she insisted.
Kai sighed. "Okay, mom, fine."
He left his room to find his mom bustling around the kitchen.
"Morning, mom," Kai said.
His mom smiled, handing him a plate. "Eat up, and don't be late for school."
Kai dug into his breakfast, fueling up for the day ahead.
As he ate, his thoughts drifted to Patience and the events of the previous day. What would today bring?
Kai sat at the table, eating his breakfast, and thought about visiting his dad in the hospital. "Mom, I think I'll go see Dad today after school," he said.
His mom smiled. "That's a great idea, Kai. It might lift his spirits."
Kai nodded. "I'll go, Mom. I want to see him."
Just then, his phone rang. He checked the number and saw it was Patience.
"Hi, Patience," Kai answered.
"Hi, Kai. I told my dad about what you did, and he wants to meet you," Patience said. "He wants to thank you personally."
Kai's mom looked at him curiously.
"When can I meet your dad?" Kai asked.
"How about 2 PM today? School ends at 1:30, right?" Patience suggested.
"Sounds good," Kai agreed.
After hanging up, Kai's mom asked, "Who was that?"
"Patience, my new friend," Kai replied. "I met her yesterday. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to worry you."
Kai's mom raised an eyebrow. "What happened?"
"I saved her from some gangs while walking home," Kai explained. "And get this, Mom β her dad's car is a Rolls Royce! Over 1.5 million rands."
His mom's eyes widened in shock.
Kai continued, "Don't worry, Mom. She's okay. I walked her home, and her bodyguards arrived."
His mom listened intently, then stood up. "I'm running late for work. Take the keys, and don't forget to visit your dad."
As his mom left, Kai sat in stunned silence. "Wow, Patience called me.?
Kai wondered when the bus would arrive. Just then, it pulled up, and he grabbed his things, finished his food, locked the door, and boarded the bus.
Mister Johnson greeted him through the fence as he left.
On the bus, Kai noticed a suspicious man acting frantically. Something didn't feel right.
Kai's instincts kicked in, and he jumped up, then sat back down, unsure why he reacted.
The frantic man stood up and pulled out a gun. "Give me your purses, jewelry, and clothes!" he yelled.
The bus driver pleaded, "Sir, please sit down."
Kai intervened, "Sir, don't be reckless. That's a gun you're holding."
The man threatened, "Shut up, or I'll shoot you!"
Kai thought, "How can I solve this?" People were panicking, and the man held a gun.
He noticed the coins in his pocket and thought, "These coins can make miracles."
Stepping closer, Kai asked, "Sir, why are you doing this?"
The man replied, "Why do you care? I'll blow your head off."
Kai thought, "I'll be late for school. Why is he doing this?"
Analyzing the situation, Kai observed the gun's trajectory, the man's shaking posture, and made his move.
With lightning speed, Kai threw a coin, hitting the man's hand, and swiftly struck his chest.
The gun went off, but miraculously, no one was hurt.
The passengers were stunned by Kai's heroic act. "How did this boy do that?" they whispered among themselves.
The would-be robber lay on the floor, spitting blood. Kai asked, "Is everyone alright?" Concern etched his face, relieved the gun hadn't harmed anyone.
Grateful passengers thanked Kai, praising his bravery. "What's your name, young man?" someone asked.
"What you did there was so great," another passenger added.
Kai shrugged humbly. "It's nothing. I could do it for anyone in trouble. We have to look out for each other."
"Does anybody have a rope or something to tie this guy up so he can't escape?" Kai asked. "And someone please call the police."
A passenger provided rope to restrain the assailant. Kai stood guard until the police arrived.
"Slow down, bus!" Officer Themba Mthembu ordered, his deep voice commanding attention. He was a tall, imposing figure with a shaved head and piercing brown eyes that seemed to see right through you. His crisp blue uniform and badge gleamed in the morning light.
The police officers stepped out and approached the bus driver. "What happened here?" Officer Mthembu asked.
The driver explained, "This guy pulled out a gun and demanded our valuables. But this young man," he nodded toward Kai, "intervened and disarmed him."
Officer Mthembu's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow, he's so young. How could he do that alone?" he thought to himself.
The officers looked at Kai with newfound interest.
Officer Mthembu approached him, his expression a mix of admiration and curiosity. "Wow, young man, your future looks promising. We'll talk later."
Kai nodded. "Officer, can I please go? I'm late for school."
Officer Mthembu smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Of course, you're free to go. We'll take your statement downtown later. You're doing great work, keep it up."
Kai breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, officer."
As he exited the bus, Officer Mthembu called out, "We'll be in touch, Kai. You're a hero today."
Kai smiled and waved, then entered the school gates.
Classmates who had been on the bus spread the story, some exaggerating Kai's heroics. "He was like lightning!" "He flew!" "He's a superhero!"
Mike greeted Kai at the entrance. "Hey, bro! Yesterday was crazy. Hope today's better."
Kai smiled. "Yeah, let's focus on classes."
Their day proceeded smoothly, with Kai excelling in his studies. His friends no longer doubted his abilities; they now recognized him as a prodigy.
As the day unfolded, Kai's thoughts drifted to Patience and their scheduled meeting. What would her father want to discuss?
Kai's school day proceeded smoothly, filled with classes and familiar faces.
During break, Emily spotted Kai and waved. "Hi, Kai! How's your day?"
Kai smiled, and they chatted about their morning.
Raymond approached, accompanied by his two friends. Mike sat alongside Kai and Emily on the other side.
"Kai, mind if I sit with you guys?" Raymond asked.
"Go ahead, man," Kai replied with a nod.
"Thanks, Kai," Raymond said, taking a seat.
"I worked on it," Raymond continued. "I'm not going to disturb anybody anymore. From now on, I'll be straight, guy. No more trouble."
Kai smiled. "That's a good start, bro. That's a good start."
The group chatted, enjoying each other's company.
Mike approached, excitement radiating from his voice. "Hey, Kai! I heard about a young hero on the bus. Some people are calling him a superhero."
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Would you believe me if I said it was me?"
Mike chuckled. "Nah, bro! But anything can happen, right?"
Kai shrugged it off, and they continued their conversation.
The school day drew to a close. As the final bell rang, Kai gathered his belongings.
"I need to visit Dad," Kai reminded himself.
Just then, his phone rang. "Kai, where are you? I'm outside your school."
Kai recognized the voice β Patience.
"Yeah, I'm finishing up. I'll be right there," Kai replied.
"See you soon," Patience said.
Kai stepped out of the school gates, scanning the area.
Patience is already here. Wow. They were early.
Guy's hearts keep debating. Guy's hearts keep debating.
Kai's thoughts swirled, wondering what Patience's father wanted to discuss.
As Kai stepped out of the school gates, he bid farewell to Mike and Emily. "You guys go ahead, I need to meet someone."
Mike and Emily exchanged curious glances but didn't pry.
Kai walked toward the sleek, black Mercedes-Benz S-Class parked by the curb. The car's tinted windows gleamed in the sunlight, and its polished surface seemed to radiate wealth.
Patience stood beside the car, waving at Kai. Her bright smile and radiant beauty left him breathless.
"Wow, she looks stunning today," Kai thought.
As he approached, Mike and Emily whispered to each other, "Look at Kyle's connections! Who are these people? They seem so grand."
Kai ignored their whispers and greeted Patience. "Hi."
"Hi, Kai," Patience replied, her eyes sparkling.
The chauffeur opened the rear door, revealing Patience's father, Reginald Thornton-Fisher, a billionaire entrepreneur.
Reginald, in his mid-50s, exuded confidence and sophistication. His tailored suit, crisp white shirt, and gold cufflinks screamed wealth.
Kai's eyes widened as he took in Reginald's imposing presence.
"Kai, this is my father," Patience said, gesturing to the billionaire.
Reginald's piercing blue eyes assessed Kai, his expression warm but discerning.
"Ah, Kai. Pleasure to meet you," Reginald said, his deep voice commanding respect.
Kai shook Reginald's hand, feeling a mix of awe and nervousness.
