Chapter 13 - A punishment befitting for a Lord-3

Only the oldest of the Lords had a clue to what Sebastian was but he wasn't even sure. It was the Lord of Cornswell and the man was over fifty years old. When he was little, his father told him stories of different creatures that lurk in the shadows at night. In the past, Denver was a kingdom that no one dared come out at night because of the stories and rumors that spread about creatures that devour people at night. According to Lord Cornswell's father, there wasn't only one creature that lurked at night. He described three creatures that lurked in the shadows at night. Claiming that one had a smell of fire and earth, the other the smell of blood and the last one had a strange scent. Unfortunately for Lord Cornswell's father, he encountered the last creature that had a strange smell and it turned out to be a witch. The whole of Denver was frightened by these creatures and only a few had encountered witches at that time but years past and the second creature was discovered by a woman who later paid the price for announcing the kind of thing the second creature was. The woman called the being a "Blood sucker" and at the end, it killed her. The term "Blood Sucker" was then used by some people after the woman's death. But later on, people found out the original name for the being was Vampire. The witches were the creatures that could easily be identified by humans, they had a very strange and almost pungent smell unless they masked their smell with a spell.

Due to the fact that they could easily be identified, the people of Denver took it upon themselves to kill any witch they find. They either burned them alive or imprisoned them in prisons that drain their magic until they die. This act made the witches hide for many years.

But the creature that had the smell of Earth and fire had never been seen by anyone in Denver. At a point, they believed that creature was just a myth.

Unbeknownst to them it was the most menacing and strongest of all the creatures of the night. Presently, the sightings of the Blood sucker and witches drastically reduced in Denver until Lord Blackthorn reported the strange thefts revealing the fact that they still existed but were only in hiding.

As the Lord of Cornswell recalled all his father told him about the creatures that lurk in the shadows, he remembered that his father also told him those creatures could be identified by their eye color also but it wasn't really as easy as he thought because the Vampires and Witches had various clans and these clans all had different eye colors. So trying to identify them by their eye color might just be futile.

Sebastian stood up from his throne and strode slowly around the court room table where the Lords were seated. Like a predator stalking it's prey. The moment he got close to Lord Cornswell, the man glanced at Sebastian's silver eyes. He hadn't seen anyone in the whole kingdom with those color of eyes. He knew perfectly that Sebastian wasn't a human but he didn't know exactly what the king was. He sighed lightly after Sebastian walked passed where he was and declared in his heart to give up trying to find out what the king was. He was getting old already and he didn't want to get to his early grave by trying to investigate on the king.

"One of us here is depriving his village of what they are entitled to" Sebastian said as he continued to walk around them.

"And because of this, the people of his village subjected to consulting witches. The witches gave them power and now, they are stealing from Blackthorn" hearing Sebastian say this, the Lord of Blackthorn raised his head to look at the king.

"If they are not caught, they might end up robbing the other villages too and who knows...one day they might try to steal from the crown" Sebastian continued. His shoe made a sound that filled the whole court room as he continued to walk around them. Every action and word of his at that point brought immense fear into the heart of the Lords. Even the ones that were innocent. The strong aura and the voice of the king could make anyone feel little and insecure around the king.
