Sebastian and Benjamin prepared to leave for Father Roberts house after the court meeting was over.
Meanwhile, in the Nolan home Mrs Nolan was dressing her husband's wound as they discussed about the guests in their home. After Mrs Nolan arrived home yesterday, her husband told her all that happened and like he had expected, she grew extremely worried of his safety. But then he reassured her that the king's guards will let no harm come he him or their family. "So how long will they be staying?" Mrs Nolan asked carefully dressing her husband's wound. "I really don't know. Probably till when the king wants them back" Mr Nolan answered.
"Just be more careful. I thought this whole thing about the creatures of the night was over but now, you were attacked by some in broad day light" Mrs Nolan said caressing her husband's leg to sooth it after she was done dressing it.
"I'm not really surprised. After all, a witch cursed our Mirabelle" Mr Nolan said as he remembered the unfortunate ordeal that occurred many years ago. His eyes became dull as he recalled every moment on that cursed day. Tears threatened to fall as guilt creeped inside his heart. Mrs Nolan saw that her husband's mood had changed to a sour one and she hugged him while gently patting his back.
"It's not your fault honey. That witch was just wicked like every other witch out there. Don't feel bad for something that was beyond your control" Mrs Nolan said trying to ease her husband's pain because ever since Mirabelle became blind, Mr Nolan had always felt it was his fault.
Mrs Nolan pulled away from the hug "it's okay. I believe one day our Mirabelle will be able to see again." She said to her husband with her palm on his cheek. "Of course. I just hope that day comes fast" Mr Nolan said raising his injured leg from his wife's thigh.
"It's almost eight. You should be heading to your shop before noon" Mr Nolan said and his wife gave him a questioning look. "You are not well, I'm staying home with you" she said standing up from the bed.
"Elizabeth.." Mr Nolan called his wife.
"Yes honey?" She answered with a smile on her face.
"You know you don't have to stay home. I can walk with the leg. It feels better really." Mr Nolan said feeling a bit guilty he was being a burden to his wife for an injury he could actually manage.
Mr Nolan was in his late forties so he still had energy to do things by himself.
"Honey I'm your wife, we'd share your burden together. After all, this is not the first time we are facing challenges is it?" Mrs Nolan said facing her husband.
"Of course not" Mr Nolan answered.
"So relax and let me take care of you for the entire day" Mrs Nolan said.
"Also, I'll be heading to the palace later to thank the king for his kind gesture" she continued.
"Ohh alright." Her husband said having no problem with that.
The horses trotted towards the direction of Father Roberts house as Sebastian and Benjamin were seated quietly in the carriage. Finally arriving, the Coachman pulled the reins and the horses stopped moving. Benjamin came down from the carriage and placed a stool for Sebastian to step on before stepping on the stoned path that led to the Father's front door. Getting down from the carriage, Sebastian turned towards the Coachman and said "We'd be back with the Bishop. We won't take long". "Ok sire" the Coachman said.
The king along with Benjamin walked towards the Father's front door. After getting to the door, Benjamin knocked twice and the aged Bishop opened the door. After seeing who it was the man bowed slightly as he greeted "Your majesty, you may come in". Father Roberts opened the door widely to allow the two men enter.
He offered both of them chairs to sit as he asked "What do I owe this pleasure?". "Well Father, your help is needed. I'll tell you all about it on the way but I need you to come along with me to the palace" Sebastian said. "Oh okay. Let me get my things, I'd be right back" Father Roberts said as he exited the living room.
Few minutes later, the old man came out with his big bible and said "We can go now". They all returned to the carriage on their way to the palace and the Bishop said "Thank you your Majesty for coming all the way here. But you know you really didn't have to, just a letter would have brought me straight to the palace" Father Roberts said.
"Father, you know it is my pleasure to bring you to the palace myself" Sebastian said with a little smile on his face. Truth be told, Father Roberts was one of the humans Sebastian favored and anyone he favored, he tried to show kindness. He didn't favor them just because he trusted them but he was also afraid of loosing them and only Benjamin knew why.
But that wasn't the only reason he decided to bring Father Roberts himself, he also feared the Father's life might be in danger. Due to the recent reviving of the activities of the witches, anyone could be in danger.
