As I arrived at Gesine's house, I saw her in the kitchen. When she looked back and saw me, her face had a disappointed look, like she was disappointed in something that I did.
"You're back? I thought you'd stay out until tomorrow."
"Oh, I just rushed some things, so I came back earlier than I imagined. So, what did you cook for dinner?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't cook dinner. I thought you'd eat out. Maybe you can eat some of the stale bread on the table. That should fill you up, right?" Dude, what did I do? I can't understand this woman. First, she's acting like a wife, then suddenly a fighter.
But as a man, I must understand and ask her what I did so I can clarify it. "Gesine, I know you're mad, but at least tell me what I did that angered you."
Meanwhile, Gesine's thought's were:
"I can't let him know that I stalked him! I must find other reasons. Come on, Gesine, think of something."
Esmond:
She stayed silent for a few minutes, then ran off to her room and slammed the door. But before that, I saw her red face; she was angry and flustered at the same time, and yet she looked cute...
"Well, now that I got what I needed from this place and nothing comes to mind, in a few days the festival will be starting. So, I should at least stay here for a while. But now I got nothing to do. Should I meet up with Cecil again?"
What am I even saying? Wait, now that I'm here, should I go and pay them a visit? My old comrades, it's been more than 2 years since I went to see them. They would appreciate it if I went empty-handed rather than with some extravagant bouquet of flowers.
Maybe tomorrow at noon, I should get ready to go. For now, I should head out in the middle of the damn night because a certain someone forgot to cook dinner.
I put on my jacket and headed out into the night. This time, I was in the inner part of the city. The houses and shops were shining in the light, and the streets were bustling with carriages and people, both noble and commoner.
Eventually, I found a street vendor who sells grilled chicken drumsticks. I'm a drumstick person; the breast of the chicken is too dry for me. It's just my own preference.
"One spicy chicken drumstick, boss," I said. Someone else ordered the same thing, but with a spicy chicken breast.
As we both stood there, a competitor, we halted and looked at each other. I recognized the girl who had delivered the groceries before. What a dear coincidence.
"Oh? Aren't you the guy I brought the groceries to?" she asked, looking at me.
"And you're the girl who ran and dropped the groceries," I replied. This girl had made me clean the floor because of her actions. And now, she's telling me she's a chicken breast lover?
The vendor then handed us our food and said, "No fighting in my stall. Both of you, leave!"
So we both left and strangely she's going the same way that I was going, "are you following me?" I asked her.
"What? No, why would I follow you!"
"Then go the opposite way!" I walked faster and eventually found a good spot to eat my food. It was like a park; there were people walking around with their partners and pets. I sat on the bench, and in front of me was a fountain.
Finally, after an eventful day, I got to eat some delicious food. I took a bite, and the chicken was juicy. It really filled my stomach, but soon I realized that two chicken thighs were not enough.
"Should I get more?"
"You want more?" I was caught by surprise when the girl with brown hair suddenly appeared beside me and leaned towards me. I couldn't make eye contact, so I tried to look down, but I only saw two watermelons, in fact, really big ones.
"You're hungry, right? You want more? I have more!" She slowly lifted her dress, but then I stopped her midway.
"Hey lady, you're scaring me. Are you a lost prostitute or something? 'Cause this isn't the red light district."
Suddenly, I saw it again - that weird smile that reached even to her ears. Her face was red, and she looked at me with weird, lustful eyes. It also looked like she was drooling, like she's hungry for something, and I hope it's not me.
"I should probably get going. Nice to meet you again, though, and I pray we never meet again!" I ran away. I may look like a coward, but I'm not going to satisfy a girl I never knew. She looked like a maniac who chases people, and I swear I'm not the guy who says, "I can fix her." No, that girl had a few loose screws.
I found myself in a crowded area. It's like the outdoor markets, but I lost my appetite with that experience. Usually, I would like to go back, but Gesine is pretty mad at me. Maybe I should get her a gift?
I looked through the stalls and gift shops, and there was nothing interesting to see. There's nothing here that Gesine would like. I mean, does she even like anything at all?
Then I saw something glimmering in the distance. Though the bright light was all over the place because of the lamps and lanterns, I felt like there was something that was calling me. I moved to see what it was as I was pushing people aside.
And eventually, I found something. I looked at it and immediately knew that it would be a perfect present for Gesine.
"Excuse me, how much are these moon-shaped earrings?" I asked the old vendor.
"Two silver coins.", It's pretty expensive for a pair of earrings, but it called to me, so I should get it. "Alright, I'll take it," I handed him two pieces of silver, and he wrapped it up and gave it to me.
I rushed back to the house and knocked on the door, but it was unlocked. So, I opened it and went inside. Fortunately, nothing was stolen. But I wonder if Gesine is still awake, so I knocked on her door and waited. There was no answer for a few knocks until I heard something drop inside.
Without a second thought, I bashed the door open and saw nothing. It was just her normal room, and Gesine was in her bed, but it looked like she was covering her entire body with a blanket. As I looked around, I saw a cap on the floor. What's more, the windows were open.
Does Gesine get lazy at night? That shouldn't be the case. Maybe a thief opened the window and accidentally left his hat. Anyways, I didn't want to wake Gesine up, so I exited her room. I'll have to give her the gift tomorrow since I'll be going to a special place.
I laid down on my bed because tomorrow. I get to visit them, since I haven't seen them in more than 2 years, truly it's been a lot of pain and joy.
