Chapter 30 - The obsessed

We waited for hours, and as the sun finally began to set, the quiet streets became rowdy and chaotic, indicating that people were enjoying the festival. Of course, I wanted to enjoy it as well. I just hope nothing bad happens.

Yep, that's a danger flag; something is bound to happen. Well, anyways, we are about to head out again, and Gesine looked excited. I also had the earrings that I bought a few days ago, which I was planning on giving to her during the fireworks event.

I definitely didn't forget to give it to her, you know, since a lot of things happened.

"Gesine, let's get going already!" She stayed in her room the entire time and didn't come out. I thought that she was asleep, but I kept hearing noises in her room.

"Coming!" When she came out of the door, her face that was full of makeup just this morning disappeared.

"Oh? Where's your makeup? Don't tell me you put on some makeup thinking that the emperor would fall in love with you," I smirked.

"I thought I was seeing the emperor, so I think dressing up properly and putting on makeup would be much more elegant,"

"But you look far more beautiful without the makeup," I added.

"What?" She stared at me with suspicious and delighted eyes.

"What?"

"What did you just say?" She approached me and poked my face. "You will not make me say that again."

"Let's just go already. Come on, we don't have time for this." This time I pulled Gesine out of the house and dragged her to the festival. As we arrived, we were immediately greeted by the smell of food. Everywhere I looked, I saw people cooking.

"No!" Gesine looked at me with a displeased face.

"Come on, it's just a few bites. We haven't had dinner yet, so let's just eat some street food while we're here."

"I said no! This money is for dinner later. I saved a special seat at a restaurant where we can eat our dinner."

I sighed and gave up. The food is tempting, but I can't really buy any since I'm broke. I only rely on Gesine's money. I hate being broke. Why am I broke? Why should I be broke???

"The fireworks event won't start until later, so let's explore, shall we?"

"I mean, sure, why not?" What's the point of exploring if you can't even buy the foods that surround you? It'll only tempt me more and more.

We were walking around, and the festival was actually quite normal. There wasn't anything going on, really. There are people drinking on the other side of the road, and others having a family dinner, casual and normal.

I put my hands inside my pockets and touched something. It was the box that had the moon-shaped earrings. I am hesitating for a bit. Should I do it now? Or maybe at dinner?

It'd be worse if she takes it as a proposal for marriage. That'd be bad because I got no money to prepare for a wedding. I'm not even gonna kneel when I give it to her.

"Gesine," I called her, and she looked back at me with a curious face. Even in the night, she's still blinding.

I took a deep breath. "Doesn't the moon look beautiful tonight?" Oh crap, what am I saying? Well, I can't stop this.

"It kinda reminded me of someone." I looked at her with my face that was trying to look handsome.

"Are you... Confessing right now?"

"Confess—bah, I mean no, I'm not. Haha." Okay, I looked weird. Let's try it again but a bit more serious.

I took the box with the earrings and looked at Gesine, but she had already looked away and was walking forward.

"Gesine, wait—", then something struck me. It didn't hurt much, but it was enough to shake my legs. I was looking at Gesine, but then I was enveloped by darkness, and the box with earrings that I was holding onto fell to the ground.

I was strangely losing my consciousness. My body was beginning to lose strength as well. I tried to take off the thing that was covering my head, but I only struggled.

I felt something; it's like I'm being carried. Hell, who would kidnap someone in the middle of the street? I was gasping for air. Damn it, I can't get out.

I remembered one thing, "let's watch the fireworks together, okay?" I'm getting kidnapped, and I only thought of going to the fireworks with Gesine. My arms were swinging left and right; they can't move anymore.

The person who seemed to have taken me ran faster and faster. I give up; this is quite a drag. If I happen to wake up, I'll just beat the hell out of the kidnapper, 'ah f*ck'.

"Alright, settle him down and tie him up in this." My head is ringing, and my feet are really sore. Still, I couldn't see anything, but I am conscious right now, though maybe a bit drowsy.

"Ahghh," I groaned; my body was aching.

"He's awake! Quick, move to the shadows where he can't see you," I heard a girl's voice. Is she with someone?

"You're awake? Well, I expected this. Anyways, my name is... Wait, take off the sack that is covering his head!"

As soon as she said so, the sack that was covering my entire face got removed, and I was met with a bright light since I only saw darkness for a few... I don't even know how long I was kidnapped.

"Good morning! Or good evening, anyways it's me, the..." Ah, shut up. My head is still ringing. I'd prefer if I sleep right now.

My eyesight slowly came back, and I noticed that I was in a room with a bed and a table in front of me. It looked like an ordinary apartment room.

I looked in front of me and saw a familiar face.

"Hello, Cassius," a girl with brown hair and an annoying voice, who was also a damn pervert.

"Well sh*t, are you that obsessed with me? I only arrived here a few weeks ago. Though, did you fall in love with this face?" I'm trying to be funny in this matter, but the woman didn't even smile.

"I really hate keeping an act, so why not just do a final reveal?"

"The hell are you talking about?"

"Shhhh, I'll be right back. Just one moment, please. That is if you can wait... Esmond."

The moment I heard my name, my eyes widened with surprise as I clenched my fist. Joking time is over. I used all of my strength to break free from the chains that held me, but nothing happened.

"Is my dearest Esmond trying to escape?" I heard the voice and looked at where it came from, and I was caught by another surprise.

"Hahahaha no wonder this happened ah f*ck why didn't I even realize the moment you called my name I should have known."

A woman with shining blue hair that looked like a diamond in its purest form and skin as pale as snow, a one-of-a-kind beauty and the only saintess in the entire continent.

"Cassandra," her beautiful face turned into a woman that looked like she was ready for an intense battle in bed; her face remained beautiful, and any man would fall for her.

"Yes? Esmond"
