The two wolves came to a stop not far from where they were standing, hidden by the shadows of the night and the invisibility spell. The smaller wolf was sniffing the ground while the larger one had his snout stuck up in the air, scenting at some unknown smell that went undetected by Luna.
Hopefully, it's not us that they're smelling!
The larger wolf suddenly froze, the hair on his back and tail raising. He sent a warning growl to the smaller one, whose hair was also starting to stand on end.
The night breeze suddenly turned cold and the air turned crisp. A low settling fog that was as dense as soup poured onto the ground. Luna felt the hair on her arms stand on end as she realized what was happening. Whatever creature had been prowling the woods the night before was back!
A chilling howl pierced through the night. The sound was higher in pitch and more broken than what the two wolves before them had let out.
