Adrian's POV
I was quite worried that my former party might be after me, or worse, my new party Although they would be suspended by now and by any chance, what if they escape their punishment and go to chasing me? Oh, no, I'm worried for Russell-kun's safety…even though he can defend himself. I must watch out.
Rai's POV
Russell is so cool. I think I am in love with him…He's a human, I know that. But he was just that cool and nice. His occupation might be strange and new, but that makes him so cool, and a bit charismatic. Also, seeing his ability that allows him to repair his complex vehicle in an instant allured me to fall for him.
Third person POV
Later after that, Russell and his group went down the fields, only to hear cries of another farmer nearby. The reason is the same as the first farmer: his farming fields were destroyed by the same cause, which is pestilence. So, all of them went to him and asked him about his farming fields. Then, that farmer, who was a neighbor to the first farmer they met yesterday, then said to them, "Some pesky insects did it. It's two of them." He then pointed his finger at two of his crop fields, which were ruined. The potatoes, sweet potatoes, and a handful of radishes were eaten and destroyed, stripping them of their market and selling value.
Seeing those ruined fields caused Russell and his group to be taken aback.
"No way…"
"Now two more?"
"How that one even happened?"
The farmer then managed to calm down and looked at them. "My neighbor has the same problem, too. I'll go to the town hall to inquire the mayor about this strange disaster."
"Woah, really?" Russell asked.
The farmer nodded. "Yes."
"Okay, can we come with you? We want to help out."
The farmer thinks about it for a bit but agreed eventually. "Okay, come with me."
And so, he led them to the town hall to see the mayor, who was working in his office at that time. There they asked the receptionist for an appointment with the mayor. "Okay, what is your purpose of your visit?" the receptionist asked them in response.
"We want to ask him about the pestilence that destroyed some farmers' fields," Cassius asked on the farmer's behalf.
"I see, that happened?"
The farmer then nodded. "Yes, my neighbor and fellow farmer also has the same problem, too."
Eventually, the receptionist accepted their request and gestured to a set of stairs. "Okay, the mayor was in his office in the second floor."
"Thank you, ma'am," Russell replied in gratitude.
Then to his group and the farmer. "Okay, let's go."
And so, all of them went upstairs to the second floor and to the mayor's office. When they arrived there, Russell opened the door. "Come in," a voice responded. So, the door was opened, and all of them went in. Then, the mayor noticed their presence coming into his office and looked at them. "Oh, hello there, can I help you?"
The mayor was a middle-aged man with reddish brown hair and blue eyes and was a bit overweight.
The farmer then stepped in and said to him, "Sir, I am here because two of my crop fields had fell into a pestilence."
The mayor was surprised to hear that. "What? This season is not even a season for pestilence!"
"We know," Kelly responded, "but this fellow is not alone. Another farmer has one of the fields destroyed by the same cause."
"We believe that someone or something might cause these sabotages," Adrian added.
Hearing their responses, the mayor began to think about helping them out.
After a bit, he said to them, "Alright, we will get to the bottom of this. I'll send one of my squads of town guards to guard your fields and that person's fields to see if anyone was responsible for that supposed pestilence."
"Thank you, sir," the farmer replied back gratefully, before bowing his head towards the mayor for a few seconds.
"We can help out!" Rai added happily.
"You want to help us?" the mayor raised his eyebrow for a few moments.
Russell then responded on his group's behalf, "Yes, we had different abilities that may be useful in your aid for this farmer."
The mayor, although not seeing their abilities literally and directly, then agreed with them, enlisting their help in response.
Meanwhile, in a shabby farmhouse on the outskirts of town, a group of hooded members of the Square Order of the Squirrels, which consisted of a squad of 6 people, are discussing their next move on the town.
Their next move is destroying more crop fields and even possibly burning one of the town's food reserves silos. With that, the farmers would stir up a rebellion against their town mayor and overthrow him for not responding to their problems fast enough. The motive behind their instigated attack on the town in the form of pestilence was clear, making it one of their threefold purposes for the existence of their secret organization.
