Phil's smile faltered for a moment, his eyes searching hers. He seemed to sense her unease, her fear that he was going too far, getting too close. As much as he wasn't ready to love again, yet, he couldn't help but wonder why she was scared he might be taking things too far.
"What? No one has ever done that for you?" he asked, teasingly and Elena shook her head. It was a sweet gesture, one that she couldn't help but appreciate. But she was scared since she knew she wasn't cut out for love. The last thing she wanted was to lead anyone on like she had done, Dan.
She sighed. "Look, Phil, I appreciate your kind gesture and all but I must tell you we can't take things any further. I don't do relationships," she said, wanting to create an understanding between them.
Phil looked at her for a moment before bursting into laughter causing Elena to look at him in confusion.
"What's amusing? I'm not joking Phil," she said and he nodded.
