"Everything is okay, I guess," Fiona responded, her voice laced with worry and uncertainty as she went on to tell Elena everything that happened at the hospital.
Elena's expression turned disapproving after Fiona recounted everything to her. "So, all of that happened, and you didn't bother to tell me?" she asked, her voice firm but laced with concern.
Fiona sighed, her voice cracking. "I'm sorry, Lena. It's just that everything happened so fast. I was so scared. I didn't know how to process it all and there was Liam," Fiona said and Elena sighed, understanding Fiona's difficulty.
She had been in similar situations before, and she knew how overwhelming it could feel. "So, how is she now?" Elena asked, pushing away from her laptop and standing up to pace around her office.
Although they were no longer in the same city, Elena still considered Fiona's mother a part of her family, and learning about her health challenges affected her morale too.
