Chapter 5 - Chapter 3!

Mila turned around and held the book closer to her chest; she couldn't believe Marlene found her. "Do you believe you could hide from me?" Marlene grimly asked. Mila did think she wouldn't see her in Perth, but she also knew Marlene wouldn't let her go freely. Marlene snatched the book from her, and though Mila wanted to take it back, she wanted to know what the phrase meant.

"Why must you know what it means?" Marlene asked.

"None of your business! You said you could translate it, so do it," Mila retorted.

Marlene scoffed and sat on the small rocking chair in her room while Mila stood there impatiently waiting for her to find the page. Once she was done reading the sentence, Marlene looked at her with darkened eyes, and Mila could sense Grandma Agatha's curse.

"Your grandma is such a vicious villain!" Marlene yelled, throwing the book out of the window.

"Hey! What the heck do you do that for?" Mila screamed, seeing her shattered window glass. Mila didn't care, but the heavy book was thrown outside her bedroom. As Mila would've left to go and get it, Marlene lifted her, and now she was floating in the air.

"Marlene, put me down now!" Mila demanded.

She didn't have time to speak with her nicely; Marlene ignored her and left her floating in the air—-then, she went outside. Then, suddenly, a loud thud was heard, and Amy ran to her daughter's room and saw her on the floor.

"Mila, what are you doing out of bed?" Amy asked.

"I saw grandma, and there was a ghost in my room," Mila said. Amy picked up Mila and tucked her in bed. "Mila, please stop talking about ghosts and grandma. Besides, you sleep—you have school tomorrow," Amy said.

She believed Mila had a wild imagination and pecked her forehead; "Now, I don't want you to get out of bed again," Amy said.

"Okay, mom," Mila replied.

Once her mother left the room, Marlene reappeared and smiled grimly at her; Mila stood on the bed and stretched out her hand.

"Give me the book!" Mila asked.

"You don't want me to translate it for you!" Marlene asked.

Mila scoffed in annoyance because she didn't believe Marlene knew the language. "I don't want you to because I'll look it up tomorrow at the local antique library," Mila replied. She got off her bed and snatched the book from Marlene. Get out of my face, and don't let me see you!" Mila said.

"Humph! Your threats don't affect me!" Marlene replied.

"But this spell does!" Mila grimly said.

She grabbed the night lamp flipped through the pages; she saw the spell. However, as Mila would've read it, Marlene vanished into thin air, not before shouting these words: "You shall never find the meaning behind those words!" Marlene said.

"You'll be in danger if you do!" Marlene's words echoed in her bedroom. Mila scoffed because she knew Marlene was trying to frighten her, not wanting her to discover the truth.

The whole time I was at school, all I could think about was the phrase; "What did Grandma Agatha write that pissed off Marlene?" I murmured. My best friend, Julia, and I headed to the antique store because she wanted to uncover the truth; I couldn't keep it from her.

Also, I wanted to have someone by my side as I discovered whatever the bloody hell Grandma Agatha wrote. As Julia opened the door, all the hair in my body rose, and the older woman looked at me.

She looked creepily like one of the dolls Grandma Agatha had in the storage room; "I have been expecting you," she said.

"Us? Why have you been expecting us?" Julia asked.

"Follow me!" The older woman said.

Julia and I looked at each other with a questionable expression but decided to follow her. As the woman made her way between the bookshelves, I noticed ancient books, but they were too dusty for me to read the titles.

Then, the woman stopped before a mahogany door; "You come with me, but your friend mustn't enter!" The older woman said.

"Wait for me!" I said to Julia.

I head inside with the woman. Then, suddenly, she becomes young and faces me. "Mila Anderson, you must have met my daughter, Marlene!" the woman says.

"I don't think you'd leave because your grandmother took everything from my family, and today, I shall take what she desires most," the woman uttered. She lets out a peal of menacing laughter, making Mila look at her with bewilderment.

Then, Mila noticed the woman had claws, and as she screamed, the sound came out as a muffle—"Your friend shall not save you!" the woman said.
