Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

"You called," Seraiya said entering Aaron's office alongside Amani. "Someone is here to see you," he told her. Suddenly a tall man with red eyes and jet-black hair appeared in front of her. "Hello seraiya," he said with a look of relief on his face. "Dad…" Seraiya said surprised to see him.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him. "I came to see you for myself," he told her. "Your mother and Damien said they had found you and I couldn't believe it" he added. Seraiya was silent. She was never very close with her father but she had never pushed him away either.

"I have a surprise for you," he said. "Come with me" he added walking past her. Seraiya let out a deep breath and followed behind him. Amani and Aaron followed after the both of them.

When they got outside a horse trailer sat in the driveway. Seraiya looked confused as he opened the trailer and went inside before bringing a large black horse out of it. Seraiyas jaw dropped and a smile crept onto her face.

"Shadow!" she said before running to him and hugging the horse. "How did you bring him here?" Seraiya asked her father. "I know how much you love him and since I heard you were choosing to stay for the time being I figured I would bring him here for you," he told her.

"You didn't have to do this I don't even think there's anywhere to put him," Seraiya said looking at Shadow and petting his nose "We'll find a place" Aaron chimed in. Seraiya had been through so much already, that he didn't want to take what little happiness she had away from her. "Thank you" she mouthed to him and he gave her a nod.

"Did you bring his tack?" Seraiya asked daemon. "It feels like it's been forever since I last rode him" she added. "It's in the trailer," he told her before going into the trailer and grabbing it. "No offense Rai but you can shift into a wolf now isn't that way better than a horse?" Amani asked. Seraiya just looked at her.

"It's great sure but nothing compares to riding shadow," she told Amani. "He's my best friend and when I'm both with him and riding him it's like we're both in sync" she added as she and daemon began to slowly tack up Shadow.

As soon as they were done she climbed up on shadow. "I'll be right back," she said taking off into the woods on shadow.

Amani looked up at Aaron and he gave her a nod. She quickly shifted into her wolf form and followed behind Seraiya at a distance. "Sending someone to follow my daughter?" Daemon questioned. "Sending someone to protect her or at least by time until I can get there," Aaron told him. "What on earth are you talking about?" Daemon asked.

Aaron was silent for a moment. "Someone is after her," Aaron said simply turning to walk back into the pack house. "Who?" Daemon asked following him. "I don't know," Aaron told him. "How do you know someone is after her but not know who?" Daemon demanded to know. Aaron stopped and turned to Daemon.

"Name one person who isn't after her?" Aaron asked. "Instead of questioning the alpha of a pack protecting your daughter why don't you focus on finding out who the hive is and what they want from her," Aaron said.

"Did you just say the hive?"Anya asked suddenly appearing behind daemon. "You know of it?" Aaron asked as daemon turned to her. "Yeah," Anya answered. "She is a false god of witches," Anya told them.

Seraiya and Shadow had finally found an open stretch of land and took off at a gallop. Seraiyas long black hair blew in the wind and as she relaxed she gently let go of the reins and put her arms out almost as if they were her wings. Closing her eyes she pointed her head to the sky enjoying the moment.

Suddenly shadow began to slow down prompting Seraiya to open her eyes. Shadow came to a stop at the tree line in front of them not wanting to move forward. "What is it?" she asked petting his neck before squinting her eyes in an attempt to focus on what was in the woods.

An unfamiliar scent filled her nose. This must have been what Amani meant when she said her senses would become stronger.

In the distance, she could see the figure or a person. "Amani" Seraiya said in a whisper and Amani slowly walked to shadows side so as not to startle him.

"Tell me you know who that is," Seraiya said not looking away from the figure. Amani let out a low growl. Suddenly a woman with red eyes and brown hair appeared in front of them. Without hesitation, Amani lunged for the vampire.

Shadow reared up and Seraiya fell, hitting her head upon impact with the ground the vampire threw Amani off of her and as Shadow attempted to attack the vampire the woman lunged for him. "NO!" Seraiya yelled unable to focus on the vampire, but somehow still managing to throw her away from shadow. Amani quickly got up and ran towards the vampire but the woman dodged her and by the time Amani jumped at her she already had Seraiya by the throat.

Seraiya grabbed the woman's arms. Her eyes then gave off a golden glow as daemon appeared in the field "Converto te ad pulverem" Seraiya managed to choke up the spell. "Seraiya!" daemon yelled from across the field as the woman turned to dust and Seraiya fell to the ground.

Daemon ran to her appearing ag her side in a second. "Are you ok?" he asked her as she only stared at Amani. "I'm fine" she answered as Amani limped over to Seraiya. "Are you alright?" Seraiya asked Amani.

Amani nodded and Seraiya let out a breath of relief. "You handled that well," Daemon told her. "I only handled it like you would have, that's all" Seraiya replied simply.
