Even though Sharon was Sitting in an air-conditioned room she was sweating profusely and having a hard time organizing her thoughts. She couldn't believe her marriage of barely a year was coming to an end without any warning.
Divorce papers served by her husband's lawyer stared at her, the words hardly making sense to her.
"Your husband wants you to sign the papers without delay," he said in a tone that suggested he was only doing his job.
"If Freeman wants a divorce I believe I need to know why, what offense have I committed. I have been a submissive, supportive, and faithful wife to him. What did I do wrong? Sharon asked in a calm voice refusing the urge to cry immediately.
"I do not have answers to your question ma'am" he replied hardly exchanging looks with her.
"Then I won't sign this till I get an explanation," she said pushing the papers back to him
"If my husband wants a divorce he should say it to my face, tell him I said that,"
At that moment the door swung open and Freeman walked in with a straight face he signaled to the lawyer to give them privacy while he took the papers from him. He sat directly opposite her and pushed the papers back to her.
"Let's not make things difficult Sharon, I know you are not satisfied with me to save the pretense and sign these papers," Freeman said maintaining a straight look on his face
"You expect me to sign a paper without an explanation? I need to know why you are making this decision. I have been a supportive partner to you from day one so..."
Without allowing her to finish her statement Freeman banged his hand on the table and snapped at her
"I told you to save the pretense, just sign the damn papers Sharon"
"What is my offense? Sharon half yelled almost losing her cool as she knew she was about to lose a lot far more than this marriage.
"Do you want to know?
"Yes please "
Freeman put his hand into his trousers to reveal some pictures in his hands. He threw them at her while he watched to see her reaction.
Sharon picked the pictures and was shocked to see that they were photos of her with different men in public places. Some of them were friends of her husband and others were his business partners.
"I received information that you have been sleeping around with my friends and business partners but I refused to believe it until I saw these pictures.
"I never knew I had kept a slut as a wife all these months, we should end things quietly because I believe there is no reasonable explanation for this," he said this time pushing a pen to her.
Sharon could no longer control herself as she allowed her tears to freely run down her cheeks. She was disappointed that Freeman would hold this as evidence against her.
Sharon became the temporary head of the Mazukin coven after the sudden death of her father. She was given five years to get a husband or risk losing the leadership of the coven to one of her uncles.
The Mazukin coven was not just a bunch of witches coming together, it was also a symbol of great wealth and authority in the oil country of Nizoral members of the coven controlled different sectors and businesses in the county while her family the Lancaster family had the right of producing leaders of the coven at every opportunity.
There were other rival covens and cults present in the country who saw this as an opportunity to approach Sharon with marriage proposals. But she had turned them all down because she didn't want any man who would marry her because of her position. She wanted a man who was ignorant of her position and yet still loved her. That way she would be sure he wasn't marrying her for the position.
When she got married to Freeman he had a small business that was barely making profits. She decided to marry him then because even while he was not up to her standard he was a kind and hardworking man. Sharon had hoped to stay with him for one year before revealing her true identity as the head of the coven. He was not a supernatural but that wasn't a problem. The witches had an initiation ritual that bestowed powers on anyone. The eventual display of the power depends on the willpower of the individual.
Due to her influence Freeman started to experience some level of growth in his business he began to open branches within a few months of marriage to Sharon but he never knew she was responsible for his growth.
Freeman would meet investors for his business and they would turn him down but after some days he would receive a call from them informing him of their acceptance. He never knew that after having a disappointing meeting with those men Sharon would be the one to meet them behind his back to gain their acceptance for his business. Some of them knowing who she was would accept immediately while others who try to be stubborn finally bow when they know the kind of influence she can pull for their favor. She always left them with a warning never to inform her husband of the role she played in making them invest in his business. She didn't want to hurt his ego
It was her meetings with these men that were snapped and are being used as evidence against her in suing for a divorce.
"Is this want you to want?" Sharon asked Freeman as she slowly cleaned the tears from her eyes hoping he would change his mind at the last minute but his eyes carried no emotion to suggest he would change his mind. He remained silent as he didn't want to answer.
"I can see your mind is made up, you would regret this decision, you would beg for me to return to you and I will never forgive you for this "
Sharon stated as she signed the divorce papers with a heavy heart
