Every witch had an official name by which they were known and addressed in the supernatural realm. Sharon, became Avalone when she became the temporary coven leader.
There was a flash of disbelief across the face of Mamba when he heard her name. Not many knew her facially because she immediately went under in search of a man. Mamba was amongst the few men who tried to look for her to see if he could get a chance to be her husband.
Mamba quickly signaled to the other men to make them scarce with a nod of the head and they all obliged without complaining. It gave Sharon the impression that they either feared him or respected him. They all left leaving him with Sharon and Marcus who had remained silent all this time wondering what his fate would be.
"I am sorry to ask, but what business do you have with this werewolf? Mamba asked quietly as if he didn't want others outside to know what they were talking about
Sharon immediately understood that this must be a sensitive matter so she also chose to reply with a low tone. She also noticed he was trying very much to be very polite.
"As I said earlier, he is my friend my very good friend " Sharon replied surprised at her own words as she wondered why she was standing up for a stranger. One look at Marcus and she could feel a strange connection to him like she had known him longer than yesterday. She couldn't still understand how he could get into her head since he wasn't a wizard.
"We have a serious case at hand. We have Intel that some werewolves are being used as spies in witch-owned properties. I think he is one of such spies " Mamba declared with a dark look on his face
"I am not a spy I am just a man trying to earn a living quietly. It is not a crime to be a werewolf " Marcus suddenly spoke scared that Sharon might see him in a negative light and he would lose her support.
"Keep quiet!" Lamba barked at him ready to hit him but he immediately restrained himself when he remembered Sharon was present.
"He is not a spy, as I said before he was my friend. If he was a spy I should have known" Sharon spoke in his defense hoping she would not regret her words. The help Marcus rendered to her and the innocent look on his face were her convincing factors.
Mamba looked at her with unbelief in his eyes. He looked from Sharon to Marcus and Marcus again wondering if he should
"Are you saying you know he has been working in this hotel for a year now and he has no other intentions?" Mamba inquired
"Yes I am aware, I hope you know this hotel is mine" Sharon informed him knowing he would not be aware of that information.
She could see the look of surprise on the face of both men but Marcus was smart enough to hide his surprise.
"I thought this hotel was owned by..." Mamba stopped in his statement when he realized the person he thought was the owner was probably just covering up for her.
"I am forced to believe you are saying the truth on this issue but this is what I have to say on this matter. He is now your responsibility. I respect the fact that you are a coven leader and I trust your judgment. If he ever betrays our community or if it turns out he is a spy then I would have no choice but to hold you responsible for any damage he may cause "
"This is my declaration and everyone under the sound of my voice is a witness to this " Mamba declared in a loud voice that took Sharon by surprise as they were all speaking in a low tone
"We heard and we are witnesses " Sharon heard some voices reply echoing from outside.
It was at this point she realized Mamba spoke in that fashion for the sake of the men standing outside.
He went ahead to release Marcus from his chains
"I hope you will forgive us for the actions we took this night. I am sure you are aware of all that is happening. Please don't blame us too much" Mamba apologized to Marcus as he released.
"It's okay, I understand " Marcus replied thankful that he was able to survive with his life. That was his most important agenda at the moment
"Leader Avalone, I am deeply sorry for making your friend pass through these. I hope you can also forgive us" Mamba apologized to her bowing deeply as a sign of respect.
"I believe we will talk more about this but for now you can go" Sharon replied without an idea of what she would want to talk more about.
Mamba quietly left the room leaving Sharon and Marcus alone.
"Thank you very much, I am sure I would have died if not for you" Marcus apologized with traces of tears in his eyes. Sharon felt moved by his words and actions. For the first time, she felt she might have made the right decision to trust him.
"It is nothing, I should be apologizing for what my kind did to you "
"I will have to return to my post before anyone notices I am missing. I still need this job" Marcus said as he attempted to clean himself with the bucket of water in the room.
Sharon laughed lightly when she heard what he said. She wondered if the beating he received was beginning to make him forget things easily.
"What you need is a good wash and a rest. You will have to follow me to my room" Sharon spoke with an authoritative tone
"Thank you ma'am but I don't want to lose this job "Marcus refused but hardly had he completed the words when he collapsed.
