The hotel restaurant was the true definition of fine dinning. It was sophisticated, unique and the meals were very expensive because the target market was the top elite of society and not the ordinary person.
Cassandra sat across Luna however she couldn't stop worshipping her abilities.
"If it wasn't you and you're super powers right now things would have gone haywire, forget Prince Verlin's handsome chubby face that man can start a world War with a snap of fat his fingers."
Luna raised her eyebrows in disbelief " really! You don't say." She scanned through the menu but before she could make an order Stella expressed her concern that lately she hated the taste of the food there.
'Mom! That's just ridiculous, this hotel gets fresh groceries from the best suppliers.' Cassandra frowned at her mother who claimed that probably it was her palate that had changed.
"There is this place that I know that had this amazing food, we should go there besides Luna I have something important to ask of you and the walls here are too thin." Stella was standing up from her sit while beckoning them to follow her.
Stella opted for a five star restaurant that was five blocks down the busy street claiming that she didn't trust the hotel workers and whatever she wanted to discuss with Luna was highly confidential.
Nosooner had they entered, when the manager approached them.
"How can we help you madame and does this have something to do with official business because you should have made an appointment, the boss left on a trip."
His sharp eyes were suspiciously fixed on Cassandra.
"Am not here for official business neither am I here to steal your recipes you can relax your jaws, am here to check out the service of the competition but so far you're customer care is lacking." Cassandra's voice was glazed with arrogance as her eyesinspected the sparcely crowded place
"Iam terribly sorry that i don't meet you're expectations of our golden ranked restaurant. I hope that you enjoy yourselves." He gestured to the waiter to go ahead and attend to them.
The spot they were given had one of the best views of the city. Luna could easily see Euphoria from where she sat.
After the waiter took their orders, she turned her focus on Stella.
"What did you want me to do for you, Stella? Her voice was calm and collected although her look was quizzical
"Let's have our meal first, not only because am famished but also because I might loose my appetite." Stella lightly tapped her hand as she suggested.
Sipping on he Nojito Mocktail, she looked at Cassandra whose gaze was still fixated on her.
Embarrassed that she had been caught gaping at her she said "Am sorry, am I making you feel uncomfortable?" Cassandra let out an odd laugh.
"Am used to people looking at me weirdly, it doesn't bother me at all. I have grown to accept that I have white hair " Luna shrugged.
"Oh! That's not why am gaping at you. Girl, has anybody told you that you are gorgeous, as in super hot." Cassandra was gushing over her beauty.
Luna laughed covering her full mouth, honestly she knew that she was as pretty as a picture and an envy of most women
"I mean yeah, I have a mirror." She joked and continued to laugh.
"Prince Verlin was bewitched by you're beauty, he asked alot about you. Any woman would be happy to have such a powerful man at her beck and call." Stella let out a sigh of satisfaction, she had quickly savored the food like a hungry wolf.
"A beautiful woman like her can't possibly be single." Cassandra was searching Luna's face to confirm her suspicions
"Iam seeing someone but it's nothing serious as yet." A wave of hopeful emotions run through her. She couldn't tell them that it was someone they knew very well.
Stella let out a short sigh " you know in the past, before my son married that girl from the slums. You were my choice for him."
She spoke with great remorse while her eyes expressed great loss.
Cassandra's eyes grew bigger than the size of an egg "Who Arthur or Logan?" Her mother's words had caught her by suprise.
Stella's body stiffened before she shouted " The latter ofcourse." She smiled and composed herself the moment she caught Luna watching her intensely.
Luna never understood why Stella's attitude towards Logan had changed after he was promoted to vice president position of the King's group.
She once adored and loved him however since then she looked at him like he was a stray cat.
In Stella's view, a psychic was good enough to marry her stepson Logan and not her beloved son Arthur "Our family would have been a formidable force with you in it. What a pity that he was seduced by that old wench." Stella's eyes were clouded with regret.
This was an interesting development, one that was in her favor. Luna was now aware that when the time to replace Megan came, she would hardly face any resistance from the two finicky women.
"Fortunately he married again." Luna ate the last of her steak and watched them with keen interest. She wanted to know their true feelings towards her opponent.
"You must be kidding me! She was a goody two shoes when her sister was alive, but quite evil at heart. I loathe her, if she wasn't pregnant she'd have faced hell on earth."Cassandra's voice expressed her dislike for Megan.
"And she's the mastermind behind he's recent change in attitude, He has the guts to openly challenge Arthur can you believe that!
When Ariel was with him, he was obedidient and down to earth but now he's exposing his claws wanting to grab what rightfully belongs to the first son, that woman is pulling the strings" Stella's cold eyes exuded bitterness and hatred.
"Can you believe he engaged Arthur in a fight and his wife was cheering him on, that bitch's main aim is to come in between my brothers." Cassandra clenched the glass she was holding
"I'll give you one piece of advice, stick with Arthur. You'll only regret it if you dont." Stella grabbed her daughter's wrist until she winced in pain.
She turned and gazed deep into Luna's blue eyes which displayed confusion because she was trying to put two and two together about what they were talking about.
The only thing she had figured out was that the day Logan came to her penthouse disheveled, he had fought with Arthur.
"What I want to ask of you is strictly confidential and I'll be paying highly for your services." Stella spoke with a stern face.
"I want you to be there at the reading of my husband's will because I know someone has an ace hidden up their sleeves."
