Chapter 10 - Met With An Accident

After Kylie expressed her concerns, Darren calmly responded, "Don't worry, Kylie. I am aware of my physical condition. As I already stated, I will teach Zara whatever she wants to learn from me." As he sipped from the glass of flavored water.

He smiled at Kylie and continued, "And I also placed a bet with the grandfather and granddaughter pair that I will take good care of myself and outlive your father-in-law in terms of health."

Kylie chuckled at Darren's remark, and they spent some time discussing other things.

The family agreed after this conversation not to put Grandpa Darren under undue stress by having him go on a tour of the university, the mansion, and his home. So, in a week, Zara would attend two to three lessons at Adam Mansion and two to three days at Grandpa Darren's.

...

Zara attended her lessons carefully, as time passed. Zara's family would also take her out on occasion to relax. The family was concerned that if she kept studying without doing anything else, she would become a bookworm, and the family did not want that to happen.

In the same way, another two years went by.

Kylie had intended to take her daughter shopping and get her some items. So Kylie notified the family and took Zara to the Oasis Mall in the city center.

The Oasis is a luxurious shopping complex. Every shop in the mall is either an international or well-known brand that many people are familiar with. It also includes some entertaining and adventurous activities that youngsters typically enjoy. Many upper-class ladies and children came here to shop or spend the majority of their time.

After shopping, Kylie and Zara strolled down the steps at the mall's entrance and headed toward their vehicle, which was parked at the side of the entrance.

Kylie heard someone call her name as they descended. She looked towards the direction of the voice. She glanced around and noticed a woman approaching her, grinning broadly. This woman is one of the ladies from the families who worked together on a business venture with them.

Kylie and the woman exchanged pleasantries. The woman continually complimented Kylie and Zara. She complimented Zara on her discipline and mannerism.

Looking out of the corner of her eye, Kylie noticed Zara looking around as if bored and knew she was not interested in entertaining people.

Kylie then excused herself from the woman and patted Zara's hair, saying, "Baby, why don't you wait for me in the car? I know you don't like talking to strangers too much. I will stop by soon."

Zara smiled and nodded at her mother. Zara got in the car and began using her iPad when their vehicle was hit from behind by a truck, flipping it over and causing it to lie on its back.

Kylie was terrified when she observed the situation and ran up to the automobile, panting. When Kylie went over and peered into the overturned car, she discovered her daughter was unconscious and covered in blood.

Kylie felt as if someone had gripped her heart so firmly that she couldn't breathe properly and passed out alongside the car. But the bodyguard beside her held her to the right, preventing her from falling to the ground. Zara was transported to the hospital by security who had been monitoring the mother and daughter duo and immediately told the family of the incident

When the family members got the news, they rushed to the hospital. Adam's family members stood in front of the operation theatre where she was being treated, looking anxious and concerned. Following the disaster, the Daisen family hurried to the hospital.

Kylie had already burst into tears and was still clutching her mother-in-law. Her eyes had already swelled from sobbing. Andrew was pacing in front of the ward nervously, hands clasped together. The family's elders were praying for Zara's health alongside their grandchild.

Sofie and Alex were also concerned about their niece, but they didn't express it on their faces because they knew that someone should be there to keep the people together at this time. Sofie held Kylie in her arms and murmured, "Brother-in-law, Kylie, please calm down. Everyone knows that Lia is the lucky charm in our family. She will not face any unfavorable consequences." "Don't worry," Alex replied, his expression betraying his words.

"You know our Lia, Kylie. She will fight for what she wants with all of her strength." "You see, she'll be back in a day or two, grinning and asking for this and that," Sofie said, wrapping Kylie in her arms.

"If Lia comes back to us, that will be more than enough," Kylie said after hearing their comments. "She can have whatever she wants. It's sufficient for her to be safe and healthy." Kylie added as tears flowed down her cheeks.

After God knows how long, the door to the operating room was pulled open, and a doctor emerged and walked towards the Adam couple.

When the family saw the doctor, they raced forward before he could reach them. Kylie, holding Andrew's hand, stood in front of the doctor, tears streaming down her cheeks.

She said, worriedly, "Dr. Cooper, is my daughter safe? Can I go in and look at her?" Kylie bombarded Dr. Cooper with a list of questions without giving him time to answer.

Dr. Cooper is the Adam family's personal doctor as well as the chief doctor at Hope Hospital. Dr. Cooper glanced helplessly at Andrew as he heard the endless stream of questions. Andrew comforted his wife by cuddling her and saying, "Honey, calm down." "Let the doctor speak."

After everyone had quieted down, the doctor talked calmly and respectfully. "Don't worry, Mr. and Mrs. Adam. Little Miss is out of danger. She received medical assistance when she needed it, so there's no reason to be concerned at this time."

"However, she needs extra rest and should not leave her bed for a month." The family expressed their gratitude to the doctor after hearing his comments and felt relieved.
