Chapter 14 - Regained Consciousness

The family obviously couldn't send Zara overseas without others knowing, and they also couldn't remain concealing Zara's whereabout without disclosing any information to society, which would alert the mastermind.

So the family decided to publish a public statement saying, 'The granddaughter of the Adam family met with a major accident two days ago and is currently in serious condition.' This allows them to change the statement whenever necessary.

As soon as they announced the news, several people contacted them to express their concern, but the family did not take it seriously unless the callers were their close ones.

.......

As usual, the boys visited their sister the next day. After a while, Jack observed Zara's eyes moving, so he stood up quickly and screamed out, "Mom, Dad, Lia's eyes are moving. Come and see. Lia, can you hear me?"

Noah and Alan, who were standing alongside them, glanced up and approached Zara. Kylie and Andrew dashed into the room after hearing Jack's statements. As they all surrounded the bed and looked at Zara, she slowly tried to open her eyes.

When Alan noticed her having difficulties seeing, he swiftly ran to the switch and dimmed the lights so that the strong light would not harm her eyes.

"Baby, can you hear me?" Kylie said softly from the side, with her crimson eyes and smile on her face directed at Zara. Andrew, holding Kylie's hand, smiled at Zara and said, "Alan, call the doctor."

Alan hurriedly pressed the emergency button on the wall. Immediately, doctors and nurses rushed in to examine Zara. After some time, Kylie glanced at the Doctor, who was heading out of the ward, and inquired, "Dr. Cooper, is Lia all right?"

"Yes, Mrs. Adam. So far, she appears to be doing well. However, to be on the safer side, we will do some tests and physical checks." Dr. Cooper patiently explained to the Adam couple.

"That's good. Thank you for your assistance, Dr. Cooper." "Thank you for your help, Dr. Cooper." Kylie and Andrew thanked Dr. Cooper after learning about Zara's situation.

Dr. Cooper smiled and waved both hands, saying, "No...no. That's what I should do." He then instructed the nurses to bring Zara to do various examinations.

Zara was brought inside the room to take rest after the examinations were completed. When the couple entered the room to see Zara, they noticed the scene of brothers serving their sister with delighted and calm expressions on their faces.

Noah stood on Zara's left side and poured a glass of water for her to sip. Alan was slicing apples on the right side to make juice for Zara because the doctor had instructed them to let her have liquid food for two days.

Jack sat alongside Zara, smiling as he spoke with her. At this point, the front door of the ward burst open, and Hendry raced in.

He didn't even greet his parents, who were close to Zara's door, and instead walked right to his sister. Kylie and Andrew stared at the view, unsure whether to laugh or weep. Nonetheless, they were pleased to see the relationship between these siblings to be so close.

Looking at his sister, Hendry came nearer and said in a doting voice, "Lia, are you all right? Do you have any discomfort elsewhere in your body?" Zara smiled at Hendry and replied, "I am fine, Second Brother. Drink some water."

Hendry was glad to hear this and stroked her hair with a kind smile and took the glass with another hand, "Thank you, Lia."

Kylie and Andrew approached Zara, and the boys moved aside to give their parents some room. With an affectionate yet irate tone, Kylie sat next to Zara's bed stroked her face with a warm smile, and said, "Look at you. Do you realize how much you scared all of us?"

Zara merely smiled at her mother without saying anything. Andrew caressed Zara's head and murmured fondly, "Rest well, Lia. Don't worry too much. And if you need anything, let us know, okay?"

"Sure thing, Dad." Zara nodded and smiled as she said. Andrew's heart turned cold as he looked at his small doll, whose body was covered in bandages and had a pale face with some bruises. He couldn't suppress the rage that was raging inside him.

But he attempted to restrain his wrath since he was in front of his baby girl, who was smiling and listening to Jack's blabbering and was afraid of scaring her.

As Kylie turned to look at Andrew, she noticed a shift change in him, so she asked the brothers to watch after Zara and pulled Andrew out of the wardroom.

"What happened?" "Why do you look angry?" Kylie asked as she sat on the living room couch, holding her husband's hand.

"I'm not going to let the person who did this to our daughter off easily. He must pay for all of my daughter's suffering up to this point." Andrew said harshly, clenching his hands. Because of the enormous force he gave, his hand quickly turned white.

Kylie patted his hand to make him loosen up his hand and said, "Of course, we will not let him off the hook that easily. Everyone is working on the investigation, and we will get him shortly. Do not worry."

Inside the room, seeing Jack continue to blabber made the other three boys' heads hurt. Zara was equally speechless when she heard her brother say so much in such a short period of time. She knows that her third brother likes to chat with her a lot, but doesn't this seem excessive, especially since she just woke up from a coma?

Noah couldn't take it any longer and replied coldly, "Jack, could you just stay quiet? How long will you keep talking? Lia barely got up, and you're already attempting to make her dizzy by babbling nonstop. Let her have some rest and recuperate."

"Noah, speak properly. I am your elder brother. Talk politely. And how can I make my sister dizzy? You're simply envious because I get to chat to my sister more than you." Jack muttered with a snort and turned around to avoid looking at Noah.

"Jack, try to be mature. You are not a child anymore. At the very least, be a big brother in front of our sister. Won't she think that you are foolish and childish? And what Noah said is not wrong. Let her relax and be quiet." Hendry stated with a stern expression on his face, which prevented Jack from rebuking his remarks and keeping quiet.

Alan, who had been silent until now, moved towards Zara, holding a glass of juice. "Have it. Finish it completely and take a rest. Do not heed to his gibberish." Alan stated as he passed the glass to Zara. "Thank you, Big Brother." Zara accepted the glass with a smile.

Jack couldn't do anything, even if he heard them criticize him one by one, because he couldn't fight any of his brothers. It's not that he lacks fighting skills, but the other three are far superior to him and could land him in hospital if all the three joined hands.

So he could just sit quietly and only talk from time to time when he felt as if Zara was bored. But he still knew when to stop or else the brothers of his would skin him alive if he disturbed Zara's rest.
