REYNA looked at the dress on her bed.
Her room was empty and not at the same time. There were two things she liked about the giant space she called a room was that it was her personal studio and the picture of her and her dad beside her bed.
The room was exactly how she left it.
The mannequins were all covered with half made dresses, and materials were still sprawled on her desk with needles everywhere.
She walked over to the desk and looked at the picture of her and her dad.
He had black hair, which he always had sleeked back. His hazel eyes were always full of warmth.
There was a knock on her door.
She opened it to see Isaac.
He looked a little tired and his clothes were a little dirty. She could see some grass on his shorts, and she guessed that he had gone through the maze.
"Are you busy?" Isaac asked.
"Not at all," she replied. "What do you need?"
"I was thinking if you could take me on a tour of Naples," he said.
Silence passed between them for a few seconds.
"Are you crazy?" she asked.
He shook his head. "No, I'm not. I figured, if I was going to die soon, why not enjoy a little before someone snaps my thread."
Reyna laughed.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
He wasn't aware of the pun he had just made, but she wasn't going to explain it to him.
He had changed a little since they'd met, which was about three weeks ago. He didn't wear his contacts anymore, and he expressed himself more often. He was still reserved in school but she couldn't blame him. The students in their school were oppressive with their wealth and status.
"Just who I was looking for," Isaac said and waved at the people at the other end of the hall.
Lisa and Leo walked over to them.
Reyna noticed that Leo's leg was bandaged and she asked why.
"Long story," he replied.
"Why is she here?" Isaac asked referring to Lisa.
"She'll snitch," Leo replied.
Lisa nudged her brother in the side and shook her head.
"I'm not a snitch, I'm just a bad liar," she corrected.
Reyna ushered them to her room and locked the door behind them to avoid eavesdroppers. Her house was the very definition of the walls having ears.
"Your room is so cool, Reyna," Lisa commented, looking at the mannequins with clothes on them.
"Thanks."
At the other end of the room, Isaac was looking out the window, not caring about the contents of her room.
She smirked. That was one thing she liked about Isaac. He hated being reminded of his financial status or maybe he didn't like the fact that money was bountiful everywhere he went.
"Your house doesn't have cameras, does it?" he asked.
"If it did, which it probably does, it would be considered a prison, wouldn't it?" Leo replied.
"I heard from Ludo that dinner's by six, and it's around two right now," Isaac said. "So we have roughly three hours to sneak out and come back."
"So, how are we sneaking out?" Lisa asked.
"I haven't gotten that far yet," Isaac admitted.
"Typical," Leo sighed from the other side of the room.
"At least I did something," Isaac retorted.
"Good job," Leo said sarcastically.
He turned to Reyna.
"Don't you have a way to get out of your house or are you like Rapunzel? Stuck in your huge castle, not visiting the outside world."
Reyna didn't like where the conversation was headed.
"I don't," she replied, "and I'm not Rapunzel. Don't you have a teleportation spell that could whisk us away from here?"
"I don't," he replied, "and if I did, your house would most likely be anti-magic. So, no teleporting for anybody."
"So it's true!" Lisa gasped at the end of the room.
Isaac being a witch was just a rumour, it hadn't been confirmed yet. And they had just spilled the beans to Leo's sister.
"Door," Leo said.
As if on queue, there was a knock on the door.
Before anyone answered, Fillip let himself in.
"What do you want?" Reyna asked.
"I just came to check on my younger sister, can't I?"
"You've seen me, so can you go now," she said and guided him back to the door.
He held the door frame and turned around.
"Don't think about sneaking out," he warned them.
"How did -" Isaac asked.
"Sibling thing," Filip replied.
Isaac turned towards Leo, who shook his head.
"It wasn't going to work," Reyna told him. She wanted to let him be optimistic before she burst his bubble.
"Obviously," Leo scoffed.
"Who told you it wouldn't?" Isaac refused to believe him.
Lisa sighed. "No one sneaks into or out of Gomez estate. It's too secure."
"Oh," Isaac said. "Then, what about a tour of the mansion?"
"Now that's better," Filip said.
"Good timing," Reyna said and shoved Isaac towards the door. "Filip was doing some rounds anyway, so he would be delighted to take you on a tour of the house."
Filip and Isaac started to argue, but Reyna threw them out of her room.
She took a deep breath and looked at the last two intruders in her room.
They got the message and left quickly.
As she closed the door, she sank to the ground, thinking about what she was going to do about her mother's request.
